In the early seventies, Marcello Giovannini leaves the plains of Lugo in the hills of Brisighella, where with insight and passion founded Podere La Berta. Under his leadership, Podere La Berta becomes a place of innovation and experimentation on native and not grape varieties, beginning the path of quality that still characterizes the company.
In 2009, the Giovannini family left for the Poggiali family. By integrating sobriety and quality, perseverance and resourcefulness, without neglecting the passion for what they do, Giovanni, Nicolò and Domenico enhance the role of Podere La Berta, combining a careful attention to the product and the territory with their will continue to enhance the identity of Romagna, bringing its values towards the future.
The company is located in the hills of Mongiorgio in the heart of the Bologna hills. Marco Franceschini involved in his passion the whole family, working in particular with his son Gian Luca. Love for quality oenology has spawned the Selection line, wines particularly well cared with winter pruning in the vineyard, in order to produce low yields per vine and thinning after the period of the maturation.
The story of the Il Poggiarello wine company begins in 1882, when grandfather Perini meets grandfather Ferrari. A farmer who made wine and a carpenter who made barrels. Since then, generations of vinegrowers and ways of treating grapes and wine follow, up to the great–grandchildren of today that in response to a family challenge in 1980 take over the company in complete degradation. In 1982 its reorganization starts: we plant 13 hectares of vineyard integrating the variety typical of the hills of Piacenza with more international varieties. This part of Trebbia already in the sixteenth century was known and appreciated for the quality of its wines, the characteristics of which come from contained production, the forerunner of the techniques that are most commonly used today in the vineyard.
Here at Il Poggiarello a small farmhouse inn has been opened, that works on reservation and where you can taste wines, meats and cheese typical of Piacenza. The main body of the building, which houses the tavern and the wine cellar, a rustic house dating back to the half of the nineteenth century, has been refitted with a clever job of maintainance. From the old porch that looks out onto a cool garden and from the terrace above you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama with a view of Piacenza and of the castles that surround the plain of Statto.
The "Gradizzolo" winery, located in Monteveglio in via Invernata on the border of the Natural Park, has a surface area of approximately 7 hectares in the typical production area of the Bologna Hills.
From the vineyards located at an altitude of 180 m above sea level on steep sunny slopes they obtain some of the most typical wines of the area such as Merlot, Barbera, Pignoletto, Pinot White.
In the wine cellar, the vinification is made using modern technology while respecting a well–established for more generations tradition and with the use of small oak barrels for aging.
The Gaggioli company is a small company in the Bologna Hills that produces and sells DOC wines.
The company works in the vineyard according to the EC Regulation (European Community) n. 1257/99, then, in the maximum respect for the environment. Only grapes of own production are vinified and in the winery the various production processes take place in the most hygienic way possible (HACCP).
The Gaggioli company, which for nearly forty years has been working these lands, from the refit of the old barn has created a modern farmhouse in the countryside. Twelve beds with double and single rooms offer many opportunities for overnight stay. A large kitchen offers opportunities for banquets, parties and business lunches with traditional menus based on traditional local products.
Azienda Agricola Stefano Ferrucci Societa' Agricola S.S. is a winery that prides itself on producing high-quality wines using traditional winemaking techniques. Several are the novelties affecting the company of the dynamic and enterprising Maurizio Vallona. A new wine from grapes is in fining: Pignoletto, remaining 24 months in steel. At the same time, the inauguration of the building used for the tasting of many products has taken place, all characterized by respect and the evolution of the varietal features; from a well–balanced alcohol content, great pillar of the structure; to pleasure and taste balance. The Permartina 2006 stands out for its refined floral nuances and a pleasant softness given by a slight drying of the grapes.
Fattoria Paradiso, former Castello Ugarte Lovatelli, stands on a hilly knoll alongside the medieval Bertinoro.
Ancient documents indicate its origin in the fifteenth century, although the Roman period can not be excluded. The location of the hill overlooking the Via Emilia, in effect, together with time vestiges returned by the soil that now houses the Molino Vine, lead us to consider them a strategic vantage point of observation of the wagons in transit on the Consular and the seat of country villas of the period.
The villa and adjoining land, owned by the Countess Gabriella Ugarte Lovatelli, the last heir of the namesake patrician family, was purchased by the Pezzi family, at the end of the nineteenth century.
The ancient dwelling is related to the birth of Marco Palmezzano, a disciple of Melozzo da Forlì. This is confirmed by the initials of the M.P. master (symbolic and surprising coincidence with those of Mario Pezzi) carved on the stone pediment of the monumental chimney of the apartment that Fattoria Paradiso offers to its distinguished guests.
We like to remember, among others, the sculptor Giacomo MANZU, the American Ambassador Dina LUCE, the writer Julien GREEN, the Nobel laureate Dario FO, the writer and poet Anthony BURGESS, the actor Danny KEY, the Russian astronaut Valentina TERESKOVA, and the American Karhin THORTON, and countless characters of art, culture, theater, film, politics.
These people, and the frequent succession of dinners, round tables, conferences, concerts and events of various culture, that the Pezzi family has always elegantly housed in environments of great distinction and accommodation skillfulness, have made Fattoria Paradiso meritorious of the title
of Cultural Lounge of Romagna.
Fattoria Camerone, personally run by the Marabini family, is located in the hills of Romagna, an area particularly suited to wine production.
In the 60s, in Faenza, the "Ente Tutela Vini di Romagna" Consortium was founded, under the symbol of the "Passatore" (Romagna bandit). The Camerone farm joined immediately and in those years the first bottles of Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano were produced, with the image of the Passatore. In these forty years of activity the company has gained widespread recognition (25 Plates by the Tribuneship di Romagna, two stars in the traditional Bolaffi catalogue, medals in Pramaggiore–Asti, Oscar of Kitchen in Perugia, "Bianco più Bianco" in Gorizia). Fattoria Camerone has always stood out for its wines, which have a distinct personality, very precise, in order to preserve the virtues of character of the wines of Romagna.
Fattoria Camerone has been belonging to the Marabini family for four hundred years, and currently is represented by Giuseppe, a well–known veterinarian, who between one visit and another found the time and manner to work as a vintner with unusual passion, with the collaboration of his wife Edda and now even of their children.
In the book "Vini e Cibi di Romagna" by G. Bonacina you read: «I never understood how Giuseppe Marabini manages to do all the things he does: vinegrower, producer, winemaker, bottler, packer, conveyor for the full range of his wines in Italy and abroad, that you can find in good restaurants in New York, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Geneva, Salzburg, and other places. Moreover, in his spare time, he is also a veterinarian. But not so much doing: all the things he does, he does them well, with great skill and passion.
The farm owns, both in property and for rent, approximately 25 hectares of specialized vineyards. Everything is monitored directly and with the utmost care, from planting to pruning, harvesting, vinification of the grapes, to bottling.
We treat our wines with the utmost care, from the cultivation of the vine, according to the most modern agronomic and ecological criteria, in order to ensure a craft "nectar", but that meets the quality requirements demanded by an increasingly more attentive clientele. In addition to the D.O.C. wines of Romagna: Albana (in the dry, sweet and raisin versions), Trebbiano, Sangiovese, Pagadebit and Cagnina, Colli di Faenza Red, we produce wines of imagination with our brand, the result of blends of our precious grapes: Camerone Brut, Frizzante del Camerone, Rosé del Camerone, Bianco del Camerone, Rosso del Camerone Reserve, Cru Vigna Badilona, Millennium Reserve, and, from the best pomace of Sangiovese and Albana Raisin, we obtain Grappa del Camerone.
A produce range focused on quality, from the simple Pignoletto Frizzante to Merlot in barrels, reflecting the work done in the company to obtain more positive results. In effect, constance is the element of merit that characterizes the Cinti production that, even in the absence of peaks of excellence, knows how to propose clean versions and respondents both to local varieties and to the "international" ones, always at home on the Bologna Hills.
Umberto Cesari is a family-owned winery that has been producing high-quality wines for over 50 years. The winery is committed to sustainable practices, using only the finest grapes and modern winemaking techniques to create a range of elegant and complex wines. The winery's portfolio includes signature reds made from Sangiovese and unique whites made from Pignoletto and Albana. Founded in 1963, owned by the Sirri and Casadei families (BRON & RUSEVAL) since 1965, and since then the accurate selection of the grapes from small farms located in the area, have given interesting results from the qualitative point of view.
In 1985 the renovation of the winemaking facilities began, and above all, a new philosophy that drives us towards the constant search for quality and the typicality of the wines we produce.
In 1995 the company develops the agricultural sector purchasing and planting new vineyards. Currently, we carefully select the grapes from 39.40 hectares of vineyards situated in the most suitable areas of the town of Bertinoro.
The Castelluccio farm was founded in the 70s, with the agronomic advice of Mr. Remigio Bordini and later with the advice of the oenologist Vittorio Fiore.
The first 6 hectares were made with important and avant–garde technical innovations for those times, which soon led to the achievement of extraordinary results, such as the creation of wines like Sangiovese Ronco delle Ginestre and the acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc, Ronco del Re, all wines from individual vineyards.
In 1999 Vittorio Fiore, involving his brothers Ermanno and Gianmichele and his son Claudio – oenologist, too – acquired the majority of shares, joining in this way the previous corporate structure, composed of the same Remigio Bordini, Augusto Valentini, Gianalfredo Bernabucci and Diego Amaducci.
Vittorio, who in the early 80s created, as a consultant, the wines of Castelluccio and contributed firsthand to the success of the company – which soon achieved international fame – provides technical support of considerable importance, thanks to its professionalism.
Castelluccio has always been considered to be the first innovative company in Romagna.
