Costigliole d’Asti is a must, its imposing castle located on the hill top fascinates any tourist from any road it is reached, and if you want to try pleasant experience, once you get near Costigliole, a visit to Cascina Castlet, in the locality of Castelletto, just outside the village, is recommend.
Cascina Castlet is a typical farmhouse, as they used to be in the past, located on the crest of the hill with vineyards on both sides. At first glance there is nothing different from any other farm. Visitors who reach it find Mariuccia and Ada to receive them, can taste the wines, Barbera above all, in all versions, from Goj, joyful and sparkling, to the elegant Passum, but also Moscato, either in its natural fermentation version and in the charming raisin version: Avi.
But there is an element that distinguishes Cascina Castlet, and the visitor notices it right away by looking at the labels, modern, fine even if open–minded, innovative and classic at the same time.
This is Cascina Castlet, the result of the encounter between rural traditions and urban culture of the owner’s family who has lived, studied and worked in the center of Turin in the family wine shop frequented by the upper class and the intellectual elite of the city. When you know it, you better understand the outstanding research that does not stop at the design and the label, but extends in wines.
There is even a wine, Uceline, that is the result of university scientific research and the recovery of a twenty–years–old vine, then endangered, which has allowed this precious wine to exist for now in exclusive company. It is understandable, then, the reason of the kind gestures, you fall in love with the ancient mother who occasionally sits in front of the threshold to take the sunset sun and greets every guest with a smile.
You can admire the modern winery, a jewel of rationality, light, and cleanliness. And we understand that the little table in the little room, where you sit in a few to enjoy a glass of wine, must remain so. It is a matter of seriousness and honesty, reflecting that wines are honest, in price and in its declared identity. A visit that remains in the memory for its simplicity and taking away a bottle means to renew that serene moment.
In the heart of the Langhe, in Bussia di Monforte d'Alba, stands Cascina Sciulun, an ancient farm typical of the Piedmontese architectural tradition. The building, built in the mid-19th century and enlarged in the 1940s, has always belonged to the Conterno family. The Franco Conterno farm boasts roots that have their roots over the decades and date back to the family branch. It was grandfather Pietro who allocated the 18 hectares of land owned to the cultivation of Nebbiolo vineyards, initially to be sold to other wineries for
Located in the heart of Piedmont, in the Monferrato, the Angelini Paolo Agricultural Company consists of 40 hectares planted with vineyards on land that varies from the most calcareous to the most clayey. Every single variety has found its ideal place to give the best results. The recent modernizations, together with production techniques aimed at enhancing the typicality of each single grape variety, allows us to have a very varied range of wines closely linked to our territory. Maintaining respect for the classic vines of Monferrato, Barbera and Grignolino, curiosity made us dare with Viognier and Syrah, relying on over 100 years of history and experience.
Thanks to the dream of three young brothers and love of the land, in 2000 "La Tribuleira", a small family farm, was founded.
In 1999 Mauro Gallo, after graduating at the Agricultural Technical Institute, and becoming a specialist in Viticulture and Oenology, together with his younger siblings Daniele and Elisa, decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Eugenio, a historic cellerer in a well–known winery in the area.
The grounds of the company extend in the town of Santo Stefano Belbo, a small village of the Langhe characterized by its outstanding and historic vineyards, which do not allow high mechanization, but thanks to the sun, the exposure, and many efforts originate the flavors and aromas of our culinary tradition. From this all, the name "La Tribuleira" comes, that does not mean only to struggle in the true literary sense, but that wants to pay tribute to the sacrifices and hard work that are necessary to achieve and maintain these typical and unique products related to our culture.
Currently, about 8.5 hectares are planted with vines on a hillside area, which is divided into different types of vines: white Moscato 6.5 hectares, Chardonnay 0.35 hectares, Barbera 0.38 hectares, Nascetta 0.5 hectares and Albarossa 0.5 hectares.
The excellent exposure to south south–west is associated with a sandy soil with marl, a special microclimate and a production philosophy oriented towards the development of the grapes produce: winter short pruning and proper green pruning, thinning of excess grapes ect ... makes it possible to obtain red and white wines that are fragrant, harmonious and structured.
All wines are produced with traditional winemaking techniques employing the same philosophy adopted in the vineyard, that is, trying to find the right balance between technology and tradition to keep all the flavors of our land.
In 2000 they entered the market with two products: the Langhe D.O.C. Chardonnay and the king of the wines in the region, Moscato d’Asti DOCG, in which part of the grapes are sold to wineries in the area and part of selected grapes are processed in our winery.
In 2003 they expanded their range of wines producing a Barbera d’Asti DOC and a sublime Piemonte D.O.C. Moscato Passito in which only the better suited to drying grapes of Moscato are harvested; drying takes place within the premises of the company at controlled temperature and humidity, to obtain a concentrated liquor with the taste of ripe fruit and intense aroma.
In 2004 they increased their production again, planting two typical of Piedmont grape varieties: Nascetta and Albarossa are two native grape varieties in the region of Piedmont rediscovered within the past decade.
Nascetta is a white grape variety, suitable for producing fresh white wines with a fine bouquet.
Albarossa is a red grape variety, obtained in 1938 by Professor G. Dal Masso, crossing two varieties Nebbiolo and Barbera, perfect for producing rich and harmonious wines.
In order to introduce our wines and to taste them, we have created a special room: the cozy tasting room.

The Tenuta La Meridiana farm is located a few kilometers south of Asti, in the hills of Monferrato, an area particularly suited for the production of Barbera and the cradle of Piedmontese viticulture. Care and attention are first put into the processing of the vineyards, grown almost entirely with Guyot, according to the ancient Piedmontese tradition, in which, thanks to skilful manual work and thinning techniques, we obtain high quality grapes, further selected in the phase of harvest. The same care is then placed in the other stages of the production process, concerning winemaking, aging and bottling, with the belief that all this is reflected in the finished product. Our wines are the product of the commitment and strength of the territory; respecting what nature gives us and the values we believe in.
Tradition, passion and dedication combined with a land like Monferrato can just give rise to a high quality product. And it is exactly the constant pursuit of quality that enabled the Casalone company to go through more than a hundred years of history while remaining faithful to the inspirating principle according to which producing wine is not only a craft but an art to be handed down.
Monferrato is a corner of Piedmont in which the encounter between man and nature has given rise to a perfect fellowship. That is why vineyards, priceless heritage of this territory, can only be found where they have given historically the best results, in the areas where the high quality of grapes is a natural response of the earth and not the result of a human forcing.
Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Acqui was founded in 1992 in Acqui Terme with the purpose of controlling and regulating the growth of this wine and protect the land, planning its production, encouraging its marketing with a strong commitment to promoting and enhancing it on global markets.
In addition to Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG, the Consortium is also in charge of the protection of Dolcetto DOC. The Consortium was the main promoter of the contribution of the DOCG to Bracchetto d’Acqui, obtained in 1996, which defined more precisely even from the legal and administrative point of view the peculiarities of this wine clearly distinguishing it from other productions. Brachetto d’Acqui remains one of the few wines to be awarded by the Italian Government with the Controlled Designation of Origin Guaranteed.
All the bottles are subjected to an inspection of tasting before getting the watermark numbered band which proves their origin, supported by a careful control of the Consortium of Protection that programs and enhances its marketing with a strong commitment to promoting and enhancing in global markets.
In the Piedmont wine panorama, domestic and foreign, the importance of the Consortium for the Protection of Wines of Asti and Monferrato is proportional to that of the territory it represents, and of the DOC and DOCG wines produced there.
In effect, its activity concerns a productive area of secular tradition and renowned excellence, involving about 170 companies representing all components of the supply chain: farms, wineries, wine producers, cooperative wineries, bottlers.
The wines that are part of the Consortium are the DOCG Barbera d’Asti, Barbera del Monferrato Superiore, Ruche del Monferrato and the Albugnano DOCs, Barbera del Monferrato, Cortese dell’AAlto Monferrato, Dolcetto d’Asti, Freisa d’Asti, Loazzolo, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco, and Piedmont.
Briefly, the purposes and tasks of the Consortium consist in:
activities for the protection, enhancement and promotion of the image and the knowledge of the wines that refer to the same entity in Italy and in the world;
the proposal for the revision and adaptation of the production rules to new production requirements;
the production management and the definition of the government policies of the offers, to safeguard the quality of the product and contribute to a better coordination of the introduction in the market;
activities of market supervision and control of the compliance of wines with the provisions of the different regulations of production, in collaboration with national and regional authorities responsible for verifying the compliance with the laws and disciplines;
supervisory activities on the using of the names of the protected DOP wines, licensure, and enter into a civil lawsuit in the event of improper use;
promotion and implementation of studies and initiatives in the field of viticulture and winemaking and marketing, aimed at improving the production and to encourage the marketing of wine;
information and assistance regarding the fulfillment of the rules and regulations in force;
promotion of agreements and cooperation with other economic operators, agencies, industry bodies and chain operators, institutions.
San Pietro Estate is one of the historic companies of production of Gavi DOCG Wine, situated on the Hills of Tasarolo 300 meters above sea level. It covers an area of 60 hectares, of which 30 are planted with vines, mainly with Cortese di Gavi, and a small part of with red grapes. The wines of San Pietro Estate are obtained following the criteria of Biodynamic Agriculture: you bring in the bottle a lively wine, produced by plants that grow on healthy and lively soils.
The story of Cascina Valeggia is not traceable from historical documents but only from the tales handed down from father to son.
Cascina Valeggia is located in Moncalvo, a village of Piedmont in the province of Asti with more or less 3,500 people, situated 305 meters above sea level. The wide municipality territory, 17.6 square kilometers, after having been a fief of various noble families, passed to the bishops of Asti who, in 1198, ceded it to the Marquis of Monferrato. On August 9th, 1774 Vittorio Emanuele declared it City of Italy.
The Bollito family, from Cisterna, a municipality in the Asti area, comes to Moncalvo at the beginning of the twentieth century and chooses to produce high quality wines, using methods that respect tradition and nature.
With perseverance and patience it develops and achieves the sizes of our days thanks to the experience gained and handed down over the years for three generations. The company, with its 25 hectares of vineyards in constant development with new vineyards and modern technology, always ensures the best quality of the product. It can face the most demanding international markets with great traditional wines of Piedmont: Barbera d’Asti Superiore, Barbera d’Asti, Piemonte Barbera, Grignolino D’Asti and Freisa d’Asti; two White wines: Manzoni Bianco and Piemonte Chardonnay; some international red wines: Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, and finally a very limited production of an indigenous variety of Monferrato: Slarina.
The Whole production is vinified in owned wine cellars with new technologies developed respecting hygiene and the typicality of the product. In the old cellars in brickwork, the best wines of Cascina Valeggia are aged in oak barrels. In addition to wines, delicious raw milk goat cheese is made, derived from milk produced in the company’s breeding farm, salami of own production, Piedmontese breed meat. All of our products can be tasted and bought in the new farm shop. The rooms of the farmhouse inn will be available soon.
Azienda Agricola Gabutti vinifies independently the grapes produced in its owned vineyards. It owes its name from one of the most suited areas for the production of Barolo: the Gabutti the area, already classified as a high quality sub–zone.
Through the reduction in yield, the timeliness of operations in green and a proper assessment of the harvest period, grapes able to offer great wines for aging are produced.
No family traditions nor business choices matured aound a table. The history of Cascina Zoina is a story of passion, a passion born almost by accident, with the occasion of buying a small plot of land planted with vines in the hills of Mezzomerico, and what started in 1999 as a simple hobby for the production of good table wine, over time has evolved in the current three hectares of vineyard entered in the designation of origin of the Novara Hills.
The winery, in which winemaking and aging take place, was deliberately built very close to the stables where horses are accommodated, the other great passion of ours, Not surprisingly, wines are named after it.
Quality wines that the company is constantly seeking to improve, year after year, harvest after harvest, following the work in the vineyard and in the winery. Because to do things right you need passion.
A passion that is also a commitment to transfer in wines the unique imprint of the grapes of the area, in a unique combination of flavors and aromas that can transmit strongly that identity of the Novara hills of which every single bottle intends to be the expression.
Tre Secoli winery was founded from the merger of two wine cooperatives of Piedmont: the Cooperative Winery of Mombaruzzo, founded in 1887 as the first membership reality of Piedmont, and the Cooperative Winery of Ricaldone, with 60 years of history behind it.
The numbers of this new reality are really important:
over 1,300 hectares of land planted with vines that make the Tre Secoli winery one of the first transformers of grapes owned in Piedmont
more than 180,000 hectoliters of capacity
more than 450 vinegrowers members
These numbers make Tre Secoli winery the largest producer of wine from Piedmont of Moscato d’Asti and Brachetto d’Acqui and among the first ones of Barbera d’Asti. Over 90% of the production is DOC and DOCG.
Along the road that from Asti goes up to the lands of Casale, the Monferrato hills are more sweet than elsewhere and landscape a scenery that alternates vineyards, woods and orchards.
When we go down into the valley, vines and fruit trees give way to green meadows and fields, limited by neat rows of poplars and willows. In Cioccaro di Penango, a big farmhouse emerges among the trees on a hill surrounded by vineyards: La Fiammenga, the farm that the entrepreneur Vittorio Radicioni from Turin has acquired a few years ago to give a reason to his great passion.
An eighteenth–century building, resting on the hillside facing south: all around the vines form a spectacular amphitheater. Perhaps it is the same landscape that struck the mysterious Flemish man who gave the name to the estate. The ancient vaulted winery, with exposed natural bricks and old floors, is evidence of a winemaking vocation that comes from afar. To this vocation, in the careful renovation, the spaces of other rural activities, such as stables
and barns, were converted into spaces for vinification, bottling, packaging.
The most important works were carried out in the vineyards, where the choice of producing quality led to the rationalization of the oldest plants and to the pursuit of a selection of grape varieties in the new plants. At the same time, in the winery facilities were renovated in a program of systematic review of the entire production process.
Today La Fiammenga, practically reconstituted, ownes over 30 hectares of land, most of which are planted with vines. The classic grape varieties of Monferrato: Barbera, Grignolino and Freisa, have gradually been joined by other fine varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The production started in the 2001 vintage, when Grignolino d’Asti and Barbera d’Asti were produced. Every year since then, production has been enriched with new proposals. All wines are made from vineyards grown on the estate, with manual harvesting with a careful selection of ripe grapes for a result of maximum quality.

In Manzoni Soprani locality, around the business core, there is a splendid vineyard with exposure ranging from south to southeast, southwest.
The plot of land facing full south is called Vigna dla Roul (vine of oak) and is one of our main Cru for the production of Barolo. Formed by a calcareous clayey soil, it provides exceptional wines of great structure and longevity able to surprise after a long aging, as young they are presented with a very pronounced and rough tannin and with pungent and persistent aromas.
