Azelia

In 1920 Gentleman Lorenzo Scavino began to vinify part of the grapes prodouced in the vineyards by his family, a small peasant reality in the heart of Langhe, in Castiglione Falletto.

His son Alfonso began with enthusiasm to bottle the wine produced and thanks to Luigi’s father, Lorenzo, with perseverance and will, the wines were exported for the first time.

Azienda Agricola Azelia, in the center of the production area of Barolo, today consists of 16 hectares and produces an average of 80,000 bottles per year. Louis is helped by his wife Lorella and their son Lorenzo, who now represents the fifth generation of winemakers. The family management is essential as it allows an extreme accuracy in every step of production.

Great attention is paid to the work in the vineyards. The wine is made in the vineyard, from ancient vines, which produce very few clusters. The low yields are further reduced by green harvesting, which is essential to select the fruits, to have a uniform maturation and an impeccable quality.

Fundamental is a scrupulous attention to the wine cellar where respect for tradition does not exclude the contribution of modern techniques.

Arbiola

Arbiola dominates the Nizza Valley from the summit of the hill from which it takes its name. It is San Marzano Oliveto, on the border between Monferrato and Langhe. In its ancient cellar, has made wine from the grapes of its vineyards. The guidelines are: a viticulture in harmony with nature, an accurate selection in the vineyards to abtain a ntural concentration, always updated technologies and procedures to respect and exalt the grapes, along with a careful choice of oak and careful selection of companions for the blends. Along with the local vines Barbera and Moscato, Arbiola has recently introduced Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc. Thanks to a young and dynamic staff's contribution, in the year 2000 Arbiola was certified according to the ISO 9001 quality standards.

Oddero

We have a country, we have roots that date back to the late eighteenth century.

We have a great–little story to tell, that of our family, our wine cellars, our vineyards, located in the most important municipalities of the Barolo and Barbaresco areas. We will tell it to all the wine lovers who come to visit us and taste our wines.



It is difficult to state with certainty a start date of winemaking, as the vineyards and the farms have always belonged to the Oddero family, as attested by municipal documents of the eigteenth century. We go back with writings, deeds and photographs to our ancestors Giovanni Battista (1794–1874), Lorenzo e Luigi, who at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centures started making wine from the grapes grown in their own vineyards in the La Morra municipality, an idyllic village with wide horizons covering all High Langa.



It was thanks to them, that the Oddero wine took the ways of the world, first sold in small barrels and carboys and then from 1878 in the bottle. In 1911 Giacomo Oddero, grandfather of the current Giacomo, participated with pride in the International Exhibition in Turin with his Barolo, taking part in the tasting organized by the Subalpine Wine Club, on the 50th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.



Today, after 150 years of operation, the historic company is managed by the sisters Mariacristina and Mariavittoria, women of wine, who succeeded their father Giacomo and are supported by their young children who give freshness and innovation to the wise tradition.

Marengo Paolo

Schiavenza

The Schiavenza company has been operating on the territory of Serralunga d’Alba since 1956.

The activity was started by the brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria and now is followed by his son Luciano Pira, agronomist and winemaker, assisted by his wife Maura and his brother–in–law Walter.

In the past the farm, with its surrounding lands, was owned by the Barolo Charity; the work was done by sharecroppers called "schiavenza", hence the curious name of the company.

Currently, the company covers about eight hectares of vineyards in the territory of Serralunga d’Alba. Moreover, it owns four Piedmontese giornate in the town of Monforte d’Alba, in the hamlet of Perno.

On these grounds, the company produces fine red wines of quality in craftsmanship.

Azienda Ceretto

The Ceretto family is one of the major vineyard owners of Piedmont, with more than 160 hectares of property located primarily in the most prized area of Langhe and Roero, including the Barolo and Barbaresco DOCG.

The name Ceretto is synonymous with owned vineyards, care, research and wines that express the true varietal character of the grapes with purity and elegance. The Ceretto family started in the sixties to invest in vineyards, enhancing the importance of terroir and creating different wineries for the production of their cru wines.



The family has 4 independent wineries, each dedicated to specific wines, and each with the name of its specific geographical location:



Bricco Rocche in Castiglione Falletto, where Barolo cru are produced;

Bricco Asili in Barbaresco, home of Barbaresco cru;

Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina in Alba, dedicated to the production of wines from the areas of Langhe and Roero;

I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano in Santo Stefano Belbo, entirely dedicated to the production of Moscato wines.

The Ceretto family were the first in Piedmont to invest in the image of their wine entrusting the design of their labels and bottles to well-known designers. Over time, their attention went further, turning more and more to the visual arts. Then, they began a collaboration with famous artists and architects on many projects aimed to enrich and characterize their properties.

Azienda Agricola G.d Vajra

The G.D. Vajra farm owns the best lands in Vergne resort, halfway between Barolo and La Morra. It is a rather large part of the district of Barolo, where wines of great finesse and aromatic complexity are produced.

Aldo Vajra becomes to be interested in the family farm during the years of the university and makes his debut in the difficult year of 72. He runs away early from modernist manufacturers and begins a personal journey, in balance between tradition and modernity.

He produces intact wines, respectful of the terroir, elegant and fresh. With the support of his wife Milena, woman of extraordinary human qualities, he extends the farm area with new vineyards and new varieties, managed according to the criteria of organic farming. Today, the company covers an area of ​​50 hectares in the municipalities of La Morra, Barolo, Sinio, Serralunga, Novello and Mango.

Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa

Apart from Antica Casa Scarpa, few Piedmontese producers can boast fully to have contributed with a major role in writing the history of Piedmontese wine of quality for 150 years now.

The current seat in Via Montegrappa in Nizza Monferrato dates back to 1880, but the winery was founded years before by the oenologist of Venetian origin Antonio Scarpa and was located in the heart of the historic center of the town, known today as the time for the production of the most qualified Barbera wine.

Five families of Nizza Monferrato bond to the vineyards and the wine, either directly or indirectly related to each other, have occurred for this long period running a business that over time became more and more qualified and well–known in Italy, and more and more qualified and well–known in Italy and abroad, for its great and meticulous care in production.

Marchesi Alfieri

The Marchesi Alfieri company is a historic winery which is located in the Alfieri castle in San Martino Alfieri, on the top of the hills between Asti and Alba.



Emanuela, Antonella and Giovanna San Martino of San Germano lead the company assisted by the oenologist Mario Olivero.



Barbera d’Asti is the spearhead of production. This is of about 100,000 bottles of wine, produced from 25 hectares of vineyards located in the municipality of San Martino Alfieri and cultivated directly.



In the adjacent lot of the imposing complex small apartments to accommodate passionate wine tourists have been recently restored.

La Spinetta

Everyone who works at LA SPINETTA is a big lover of wine, people who have chosen the hard work in the vineyards more for passion than to earn a living. Rivetti or not Rivetti, all contribute to produce great wines, working with passion and in respect of the philosophy of LA SPINETTA.

– At LA SPINETTA 65 people work, 50 of whom are engaged in the work in the vineyards.

– The company is completely family–run, the owners are Bruno, Carlo and Giorgio Rivetti.

– The chief oenologist is Giorgio Rivetti.

– His assistants are Andrea Rivetti, Stefano Mazetta and Mirko Bessi.

– The oenologist Bruno Rivetti, assisted by Mirko Bessi, responsible for the entire process, from the tree to the bottle.

– Carlo, Marco and Giovanna Rivetti manage and control the work in the vineyards.

Giuseppe Cortese

From its 8 hectares of vineyards located in the heart of Rabajà, a historic and valuable sorì in the territory of Barbaresco, the Cortese family has been producing wine with a great passion for the past three generations, exclusively from self produced grapes. The Rabajà cru offers especially favorable exposure to the south, southwest and expresses the best in terms of microclimate (due to the amphitheater position of vineyards), and soil maturation, giving a product that summarizes in itself all the characteristics of a great wine.

The Cortese family has always manifested a strong link with the terroir of careful and painstaking care of the vineyards from pruning to an attentive selection of the best grapes to achieve the highest level of quality.

In winemaking, the Cortese Company expresses tradition in working, together with modern techniques, all to get those peculiarities typical of the wines of exceptional complexity, finesse and elegance.

Tenimenti Ca' Bianca

In Piedmont, in north–western Italy, in the heart of the rolling hills of High Monferrato in the Province of Alessandria, the Ca Bianca Winery is located, in Alice bel Colle near the town of Acqui Terme.



Piedmont, according to the etymology “ai pi del monte (at the foot of the mountain)”, is one of the historically most valuable and famous regions in the Italian wine heritage.

Its beautiful hilly territories, Langhe and Monferrato on all, located at the foot of the Alpine chain that includes the highest peaks of southern Europe, combine perfectly a ground that is extremely suited for the cultivation of vineyards with an ideal climate for their maturation. Therefore, it is one of the most suited wine areas in Italy and in the world, that counts on 12 out of the 48 Italian DOCG, as well as on wines known and appreciated by a wide audience: Barbera, Barolo and Barbaresco among the red ones, Gavi among the white ones, Moscato, Asti Spumante among the dessert or aperitif wines. Ca Bianca was founded in the early fifties, its estate has 39 hectares of vineyards that encircle, in a single body, the vinification and bottling plants. Most of the vineyards is planted with Barbera, a grape variety typical of the area, that here adopts, starting from the 2008 vintage, the Barbera d’Asti DOCG.



Next to Barbera, the choice offers also a selection of the best wines of its territory such as Moscato d’Asti, Dolcetto d’Acqui, Gavi and Barolo. In line with its mission as a young and dynamic winery, along with the classical choice, modern wines are offered, such as Langhe Nebbiolo or Roero Arneis. Ca Bianca just wants to be characterized as a modern winery, with no historical binding ties, which, in a continuous renewal, looks to the future.

The primary aim is to propose wines of superior quality, recognizable for their territorial typicality expressed in new forms, in line with the emerging styles of consumption.
