Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Tortonesi

The Consortium for the Protection of the Colli Tortonesi Wines is the body tasked to protect and represent the interests of Tortona’s wine producers and has proved to be quite suitable and effective to undertake the difficult process of revitalization, enhancement and improvement of the land, the local wine production and the spread of the Designation of Origin.



In addition, among the aims of the consortium we may include:



– the coordination of members for the compliance of the rules of the product specifications
– the protection of the same designation from unfair competition and other offenses
– the activities and responsibilities assigned to the Consortia through EU and national legislation in the field of wines with designation according to the Law No.164 of 10th February 1992.



A border land, a strategic crossroads of ancient peoples, the D.O.C. Colli Tortonesi wine district consists of thirty municipalities, all having one thing in common: the geological and climatic predisposition to host a high–quality viticulture.

Consorzio Tutela Nebbioli Alto Piemonte

Established to protect, enhance and promote the wines with designation of origin of the provinces of Vercelli, Novara and Biella, the Consortium protects the Nebbiolo grape, combined with native vines of Vespolina, Uva Rara and Croatina, and large wine productions obtained thereof.



High Piedmont offers a wide range of wines – from the great aged Nebbiolo to the fresh and young red wines, to rosés and white wines – that can satisfy a wide range of consumers. Currently, the companies participating in the Consortium represent almost the totality of the production; there are trademarks of ancient local tradition and others more recent, large–size companies and organizations with very limited production.

The Consortium groups currently six wineries and a wine cooperative that vinify in total the grapes from 115 growers in the area of the Province of Turin. The area grown with vineyards, registered in the DOC Freisa di Chieri and Collina Torinese roll, is of about 968,500 square meters and is therefore a matter of great characterization and wine tourism attraction that encompasses the entire hill of Turin.



The District of this Consortium consists of 28 municipalities of the Province of Turin, namely: Andezeno, Arignano, Baldissero Torinese, Brozolo, Brusasco, Casalborgone, Castagneto Po, Castiglione Torinese, Cavagnolo, Chieri, Cinzano, Gassino Torinese, Lauriano, Marentino, Mombello di Torino, Moncalieri, Montaldo Torinese, Monteu da Po, Moriondo Torinese, Pavarolo, Pecetto Torinese, Pino Torinese, Riva presso Chieri, Rivalba, San Raffaele Cimena, San Sebastiano Po, Sciolze, Verrua Savoia.

Consorzio Tutela Del Gavi

The Consortium of Protection of Gavi was founded in 1993, in order to protect, promote and serve the interests relating to the Designation of Origin. It represents about 75% of the production of Gavi and has 200 member producers (including 64 bottlers), which in 2004 celebrated the 30th anniversary from the attainment of the D.O.C. (1974) and 6 of the D.O.C.G. (1998).



Its activity is divided into two moments: supervision, in collaboration with appropriate agencies, of production, vinification and bottling of GAVI D.O.C.G., and promotion of the image of the designation.



In 2004, the Consortium for the Protection of Gavi was the first in Italy to have completed the revision of the register of vineyards. Through on–site visits by inspectors and aerial photos, the area of ​​Gavi D.O.C.G. has been photographed with precision, both from the cadastral point of view – the exact surface is equal to 1,075 hectares bordered in 11 municipalities – and from the ampelographic one: in effect, we can proudly declare that in the vineyards there are only Cortese vines, for the production of Gavi in single–variety, as required by the specification.

Newly established, it can be defined young, like the Malvasia wine represented, of innate innovative features, evolutionary of winemaking tradition.

On the back of the label of this wine you can pick up the history, the traditions, the legend and the sensitivity that resulted in quality and communication features, with tastes and mentality of the hilly areas, of the territories of production.

The district of Casorzo is located in the area of Monferrato (to the North) and distinguished as a medieval territory; very rich in fossils and defined as a basin of the Asti area which was influenced in geological ages by the languid scent of water, of the Adriatic Gulf.

Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Caluso Carema Canavese

The Consortium for the Protection and Development of the D.O.C.G. Caluso, Carema and Canavese D.O.C. has on the one hand the task of ensuring compliance with the product specification and of defending the designation against illegal actions, and on the other hand to enhance and promote the wines (with reference to the article of the Ministerial Decree No.256 of 04.06.1997 and the Law No.164 of 1992).



The Consortium was founded in 1991 by the evolution of the Centre for the Protection and Development of Caluso D.O.C. Wines, founded by seven growers in 1986. In 1996, the jurisdiction was extended to the Carema D.O.C. and in 1998 to the Canavese D.O.C., the most recent of the D.O.C.



The Consortium brings together 26 partners, representing 90% of the producers of the Designation.

Consorzio di Tutela Vino Dolcetto di Ovada

Dolcetto d’Ovada is a noble wine, with centuries–old tradition and is counted among the great red wines of Piedmont.



It is produced in 22 Municipalities in the Province of Alessandria, in hilly areas, on soils of clay and limestone that give wine elegant aromas and a good body.

The richness of the soil and the favorable exposure give to Dolcetto d’Ovada an excellent quality and a particular predisposition to aging that make it unique in the wide panorama of production of Dolcetto grapes in Piedmont.



In the expression Ovada, the sweet wine produced in this area boasts the Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (D.O.C.G.), attesting a higher quality that today only 12 Piedmontese wines can boast.



The wines of the Consortium of Protection are carefully selected through meticulous chemical and tasting analysis by a specialized technical committee.

Consorzio per la Tutela dell’Asti

Since its foundation, in 1932, the tasks of the Consortium were definite and farsighted: to do everything necessary for the protection and enhancement of the image both of Asti and Moscato d’Asti, which of the Consortium, in Italy and abroad, recite the first article of the statute:


“The Consortium dedicates itself to research in order to improve production and promote Asti D.O.C.G. and Moscato d’Asti D.O.C.G. and territory of origin, as well as implementing tasks of control on the entire production chain to protect the companies which it repersent and the final consumer”.



The production area of the Asti wine is included in the territories of 52 Municipalities in the provinces of Asti, Cuneo and Alessandria.

Already at the beginning of the latest century the winemakers of Barolo and Barbaresco felt the need to come together to protect their productions: in 1908 they asked for the creation of a certificate of origin issued by an association that was operating under the control of the provincial administration and the wine trade union of Piedmont. But only in 1924 the Italian Parliament issued the law on typical wines and settled that their characteristics should be constant and defined by statutes of consortia.



In this way the preparatory work for the establishment of the Consortium for the Defense of typical wines of Barolo and Barbaresco began, officially founded in 1934 with the task of defining the context of production (the area of origin, the grapes and the wine’s characteristics etc.), monitoring against fraud, adulteration and unfair competition, promoting knowledge of wines, as well as defending name and quality in the most appropriate locations. After the break dictated by the war, the Consortium was reconstituted in 1947. In 1963 the law n° 930 was enacted, which sanctioned the birth of protected designations of origin and defined the exact role of consortia.



From its outset, the Consortium of Alba worked for the recognition of the Doc for Barolo and Barbaresco, which occurred in 1966, and later for that of the DOCG, granted in 1980. In 1984, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry entrusted officially the Consortium the task of supervision of the production of the two excellent red wines. In 1994, following the issuing of the new law on designation of origin of wines, the n° 164 of 1992, the ancient institution of protection was turned into the current Consortium for the Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Roero, expanding its expertise to all designation produced exclusively in Langhe and Roero area. Today, therefore, the body is set up as a consortium of territory and not only of designation.



The protection exerted on the wines of the Langhe and Roero was completed between 2007 and 2009, when the Ministry gave the Consortium the task to carry out Control Checks on all the DOCG and DOC within its jurisdiction. In this way not only Barolo and Barbaresco, but also Dogliani, Roero, Roero Arneis, Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto (in its various types), Langhe, Nebbiolo d’Alba and Verduno Pelaverga are fully guaranteed in terms of traceability. The European Union does not recognize the consortium structure and then, every three years, producers have to entrust a certification body the action of control paid by themselves in accordance with the ministerial tables.



For the period from 2009 to 2012, the Council of Administration of the Consortium has entrusted the task to the Valoritalia company that operates on the whole national territory and that agreed the maximum sharing of data collected in order to publish regular bulletins available to the Companes and the Press. The internationalization of the markets that characterizes the new millennium actually queries the productive reality of Piedmont and obligates the institutions that represent it to plan for the future in a socio–economic context that is continuously changing.



The choice of the production tradition and of a territorial identity remains undisputed, but must necessarily deal with the prospects posed by the new European policy, the so–called OCM–Community Organization of the Wine Market, and with the increasingly diverse needs of buyers, not only European or American, but also with emerging countries such as Asia or eastern Europe, carriers of different cultural habits and attitudes.

Consorzio Tutela Vini D.o.c. - Capriano Del Colle

The origins of the Capriano wine are lost in the mists of time, or rather, they refer to the cultivation of the vine, a plant typical of the Mediterranean area, practiced at least two millennia before Christ in the homonymous basin, from whose juice this precious drink is obtained.

About 10 km south of the City of Brescia, in the territory of the Municipalities of Capriano del Colle and Poncarale, in the middle of the Po Valley an upland stands: the Monte Netto, the core of this precious D.O.C. in the Brescia area.

It is a very characteristic area, because Monte Netto rises suddenly in the middle of the upland plain, and becomes the main attraction in the area.

Geologically, Monte Netto has the natural right to the cultivation of the vine, being a hill of alluvial origin, formed in the latest glaciation with significant presence of clay. These morphological features, together with the microclimate of the hill, with good ventilation and lower humidity than the surrounding plain, make all the wines produced very distinctive.

Our Consortium, founded in 1994 (the Capriano del Colle D.O.C. has been existing already since 1981), was created to protect and promote this area.

On the hills you find the vineyards that give rise to this tiny D.O.C., small (100 hectares) as much as significant of the great willingness that animates the many Italian wine regions, so determined to defend the value, certainly more cultural than commercial, to face and to reserve a future to a wine of quality, their wine gems.

Consozio Vini DOC Cellatica

The Consortium for the Defense of Typical and Valuable Wines of the Brescia Province was founded in 1962, with the aim to protect and enhance the wines of the Province. A few years later, with the foundation of the Designation, it became Consortium for the Protection of the Brescia Wines with Controlled Designation of Origin. The efforts were awarded in 1968 with the recognition, at a European level, of the Designation of Controlled Origin (DOC) Cellatica.



The Consortium for the Protection of the Brescia Wines with Controlled Designation of Origin became, since 1990, “Ente Vini Bresciani”. Currently the Consortium for the Protectiono of the Brescia Wines supports and coordinates the individual consortia, founded on that date in order to protect the local DOC, represents and manages the interests of the public. Within the Ente Vini Bresciani, each associated Consortium (including the Cellatica Wines Consortium) maintains its own autonomy and individuality, also to enhance the peculiarities of the wines produced in different areas.
