The Consortium for the Protection of Cannonau di Sardegna was formed on 30th January 2007, with seat in Nuoro at the Chamber of Commerce, has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry pursuant to Article 19 of the Law No.164/92 laying down the new specifications on the designations of origin of wines.
The recognition took place with the Ministerial Decree of 19/09/2007 published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale No. 229 of 02/10/2007. The Decree, in addition to the approval of the Statute of the Consortium, instructs the same to carry out responsibilities of protection, enhancement, general care of the interest relating to the Cannonau di Sardegna designation of origin, as well as of proposal and consultation with the Public Administration.
In Sardinia, to date, is the first and only Consortium of the wine sector to have obtained the important ministerial recognition. This allows us to fill a historical gap, being Sardinia among the important regions for wine production, the only one in Italy that has not activated the instrument of the Consortium of Protection yet.
To date, the Consortium has been joined by the majority of the regional producers which, together, claim more than 40% of the area planted with Cannonau di Sardegna D.O.C. vines.
The Consortium for the Protection fo the Marino Designation was founded on 22nd February 2000 with the Notarial Deed of Augusto Bellagamba on the initiative of 10 producers.
Initially it is established as an interprofessional industry Association, non–profit, for the protection, enhancement and care of the interests related to the D.O.C. and the Geographical Indication of the MARINO D.O.C. wine.
From the original 10 founding members of the consortium, we have come to the current 211 producers members, in addition to 5 companies of winemakers/bottlers that are representing approximately 90% of the production of Marino.
The Consortium for the Protection of Marino, being still young, is trying to represent in recent years an instrument of scrupulous and responsible self–discipline with the ultimate purpose of enhancing the activity and to look after the interests relating to the designation of origin and the geographical indication of the Marino D.O.C. Wine and those of the members producers and bottlers, for what they represent in Italian culture, in connection with the territory, with food, with the past and recent history.
The objective of the Consortium, therefore, is to strengthen the culture and with it the image of the Marino D.O.C. Wine, through control actions which ensure the quality of the Marino D.O.C. To this end, the Consortium encourages all promotional initiatives aimed at enhancing the Marino D.O.C. Wine product.
The Samnium Consortium was founded on 5th February 1999, pursuant to Law No.164 of 1992 and Ministerial Decree No.256 of 1997, now has nearly 400 members including vinegrowers, winemakers and bottlers.
The new statute of the Samnium Consortium for Wine Protection – Consortium for the protection of wines with Designation of Origin and in Geographical Indication of the province of Benevento was approved by the Ministry of Agricultural and Forest Policies with Ministerial Decree of 18/05/2005 (Gazzetta Ufficiale, special series, No.123 of 28/05/2005), a Decree which gave the Consortium the task to carry out functions of protection, enhancement and general care of the interests connected to all the designations of origin and the typical geographical indications of the province of Benevento.
With the following Ministerial Decree MIPAAF of 28/2/2008 (Gazzetta Ufficiale No.64 of 15/03/2008), the Consortium has also received the task of Vigilance, as the representativeness of the shareholding structure of the consortium is made for more than 40% of vinegrowers and 66% of certified production.
The Consortium for the Protection of the Campi Flegrei Wines, founded on 20th February 2004 by the wine sector of Campi Flegrei, was founded from the desire to ensure and protect the wine tradition of the area and to consolidate and expand the notoriety of local wines and currently accounts for about 90% of production.
It was officially recognized by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, by decree of 26/04/2005 and published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale of 12/05/2005, No.109.
With the support of the Chamber of Commerce of Naples and the fruitful collaboration with the scientific and university world, topics on techniques of vinification and cultivation of the vine are continually studied.
The Campi Flegrei D.O.C. production, recognized by Ministerial Decree of 3rd October 1994, covers the entire the territories of the municipalities of Procida, Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Monte di Procida and Quarto, and part of those of Marano and Naples.
The Campi Flegrei D.O.C. wines, produced on rich volcanic soil of ash, lapillus, pumice, tuff and trace elements, determine in grapes and wines aromas and flavors that are absolutely delicious.
One of the features that makes the Campi Flegrei D.O.C. unique is the vine plant from which it is derived, called "a piede franco" (ungrafted).
This is an original grape variety, the "Vitis vinifera", not grafted on strains of American grape varieties, remaining unchanged after the attack of phylloxera (Philossera vastatrix) that devastated European vineyards in the second half of the nineteenth century, resulting in an alteration of the ampelographic structure of European viticulture. Vines are still cultivated, today, ungrafted, without rootstock.
It happens right in the Campi Flegrei, where, due to the particular structure of the volcanic soil, insects can not survive, since the grains, loose and rough, prevent larvae from digging paths and tunnels.
Still today, the current method of cultivation, is by layer, planting in the ground the new vine, then separated from the parent plant, allowing to keep unchanged, by a kind of natural gift, the genetic legacy of the original vines.
Thanks to the work of many people who care about the fate of the territory of the hills of Teramo, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane is, today, finally, a Designation of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin which will be governed by the Consortium, which aims to protect, before than companies, producers, vinegrowers, oenologists, all consumers who want to appreciate and support this ambitious path.
The objective is to become a real model of effective work to guarantee, protect and promote, verifiable by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies and the National Committee for the Designation of Origin of wines, but especially by all lovers and operators of the wine world, to which our work is addressed.
With the firm intention, however, to protect and maintain also the main diversities that identify the wine of each single company, managing in the meantime to harmonize them with the connotations typical of the designation. Almost enclosing them in a choral setting that accompanies and puts out every solo voice.
The Doc Merlara is one of the most vivid designations of the Veneto region, with the production of unique and modern wines. It is characterized by wine–growing area in rapid growth, which now has about 500 hectares of vineyards, of which about 400 are connected to the winery of Merlara, a structure of transformation associated with the of Colognola Winery, then inserted into the Collis group and, as such, able to enhance its productions throughout the world.
The unification of the Colognola Winery has marked the return of a successful winemaking in the area of Merlara: the desire to overcome the crisis and to compete as protagonists at high levels has led all the forces in the field to join in order to achieve satisfactory results in the present and to be able to meet future challenges. New retail space, a modern winemaking facility, then the best wines, the most valuable and best paid, brought new confidence and prospects for businesses.
The DOC was approved by Presidential Decree of 13th July 2000 and on 26th January 2001 the respective Consortium of Protection was established, with the task to perform supervisory functions in respect of its members. Following major investments in the field of wine making and fining, made in the last decade by the interested wineries and, above all, thanks to a more qualified the technical management of the vineyards, remarkable levels both in the quality of the grapes and in that of wines have been achieved.
For this reason, in December 2008, they approved also the change of the product specification of the Doc Merlara, which introduces substantial changes and new types to better adapt to the market. The Consortium for the Protection of the Merlara DOC Wines is celebrating at this time its first ten years of life, characterized by a remarkable dynamism aimed at informing all interested parties on the evolution of the designation and on the amendment to the product specification, to make know the characteristics of quality wines produced in this area and to stimulate the search for new markets.
The Consortium for the Protection of the Matera DOC Wines was formed as a result of the ministerial recognition, received in July 2005, of the DOC for the wines produced in the Province of Matera which include Matera, the municipalities of the Matera Hills and the territory of the Ionian coast of Metaponto.
The techniques used today by the companies of the Consortium are among the best in the agricultural sector, practices aimed to preserve and enhance the soil characteristics and the organoleptic properties of their products, in full respect of sustainability.
The Consortium is the story of some small wineries in the D’Agri Valley who wanted to take up the challenge of preserving and enhancing the tradition which has so far remained private and exclusive heritage of the peasants.
In 2002, soon gained recognition of the DOC of the area, these winemakers in the Valley wanted to start as a free enterprise a Consortium for the Protection and Development in order to represent the highest institution for the protection of quality, to promote in an organic and systematic way the already recognized wine, and self–discipline by establishing the essential criteria to protect the wine of this extraordinary area.
Today the consortium has 14 members but many others are on the verge of joining, organizing for bottling or for the conferment of grapes.
The Corti Benedettine Denomination of Controlled Origin of the Padua area has obtained the recognition in June 2004.
As stated in its product specification, it extends in the south – east area of the province of Padua and in the southern part of the province of Venice , occupying the territory which for over 700 years, from the twelfth to the beginning of the nineteenth century, knew the presence and the work of the monks of the Santa Giustina Benedictine Abbey in Padua.
Corti Benedettine were the administrative, economic and social center of the extended properties that, under the guidance of the monks, provided to local development through land reclamation, embankments of rivers, construction of farm buildings and soil working. The cultivation of the vine, already known in Roman times, is widespread in the territory, and the wine produced in the large cellars of the Corti became one of the main products of trade with the cities of Padua and Venice: this latter will widely market it in all Mediterranean ports.
This centuries–old experience revives today in the vineyards and in the cellars of this part of the Veneto region where, next to the historical and indigenous grape varieties, Raboso, Refosco, Tocai, Moscato, they cultivate those so–called international varieties, who have found here excellent conditions of climate and soil: Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.
They produce wines that can be consumed young and where the freshness accompanied by intense floral notes can be appreciated; others are suitable to the medium or long periods of aging, so as to enhance at the nose and the mouth greater aromatic complexity and an elegant structure, together with a good softness.
The Montello and the Asolo Hills are a hilly area full of charm and history, mentioned by Dante Alighieri in his Divine Comedy, whose wines are promoted by the Consortium.
After a sophisticated experimental work, a vine variety resistant to drought has been obtained, so increasing the level of maturity and the sugar content of grapes.
The production area covers the whole territory of Monfumo and part of the municipalities of Asolo, Caerano di San Marco, Castelcucco, Cavaso del Tomba, Cornuda, Crocetta del Montello, Fonte, Giavera del Montello, Maser, Montebelluna, Nervesa della Battaglia, Paderno del Grappa, Pederobba, Possagno, San Zeno degli Ezzelini, Volpago del Montello.
The story of Lambrusco comes from far away and includes the charm of the first tales of the poets and writers of the classical period (Virgil, Cato, Varro) who in their works tell of a "Labrusca vitis", or a wild vine, which produced fruit of harsh flavor and that used to grow on the edge of the countryside. Lambrusco, a wine that can be bubbly or sparkling wine, of brilliant ruby red color, was born in Modena and from there spread on the domestic and foreign markets.
Lambrusco let itself be led by its instincts, when with feline movements expresses its vitality when it is poured into the cup: from the evanescent froth a multitude of emotions are given off, in which you recognize the majestic beauty of nature.
Modena goes hand in hand with Lambrusco, certainly they go very well together: in the transparent exuberance of Lambrusco you find the symbolism of the territory that, starting from the simple style of the Romanesque churches, goes through the succulence of food to get to the glamor of elegant sports cars.
Several are the elements from which you capture the importance that viniculture has in Modena, the 8,000 hectares of vineyards, the oldest wine–growing company of the Emilia Romagna region, the presence of Italy’s oldest winery in business, three wineries who celebrated the centenary of their foundation, but especially the fact that viticulture in Modena means Lambrusco PDO, to say, Protected Designation of Origin wines.
In Modena are produced: Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Salamino of Santa Croce, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro, Lambrusco di Modena, and you can safely say that Modena is the territory of Lambrusco PDO.

The Ministry of Agricultural and Forest Policies, pursuant to and by effect of Art. 19, paragraph I, of Law No. 164/92, requested the consortium to carry out these functions as well as those of the proposal and consultation with the Public Administration with the measure of 5th June 2000.
The Consortium, moreover, promotes the use of tools to improve the quality, traceability and healthiness of the products of the chain at all stages of production.
The Consortium currently represents about 95% of the D.O.C. and I.G.T. protected in the interests of the wine growers of Trentino.
The members of the Consortium are more than 120, representing approximately 7,500 vinegrowers.
Created collecting instances of many Tuscan producers which have joined the most prestigious wineries in the region and the cooperative movement, the Tuscan Wines Protection Body protects the Tuscan oenology, enhances the Tuscan wine products and preserves the agricultural heritage of Tuscany.
A perfect area since the time of the Etruscans. This is the thread that binds the companies of the Montescudaio Consortium. Fourteen wine gems inserted in a Tuscan landscape influenced by the sea. The D.O.C., in effect, includes all municipalities in the Val di Cecina, Volterra excluded. A thousand–year story that is remembered by the "Cinerario di Montescudaio" (seventh century BC) depicting a funeral banquet with a large "crater" vase in which wine was mixed with water, according to the Greek custom.
The history of the vine in this area winds through centuries to the present days. In 1968 the Festival of Wine was founded, while in 1977 the D.O.C. was obtained with two types: a red wine based on Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Malvasia, and other varieties like Canaiolo and Colorino, and a white wine made from Trebbiano, Malvasia and Vermentino, which can also be produced as Vin Santo, dry, semi–dry or sweet (specifications which, since 1999, have been providing for the use of the so–called "innovative" vines like Cabernet, for example).
In these forty years, the Consortium has established itself and has achieved important objectives by bringing the name of this area on the international scene thanks to quality products. In recent years, then, the desire to make talk about Montescudaio and its territory out of the local and regional context has become more and more accentuated.
An ambitious program that rests its foundation on the willingness of producers to work in concert with local governments and with the present associative realities. A solid path that has given, up to date, significant results.
The Colli di Conegliano designatin, without further qualification, according to the specifications is reserved to the white wine that comes from a blend composed of Manzoni Bianco (min 30%), Pinot Bianco and/or Chardonnay (min 30%), Sauvignon and/or Riesling Renano (max 10%). Colli di Conegliano Rosso comes from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Marzemino, for not less than 10%, Merlot in any case can not exceed 40%. Torchiato di Fregona is produced with Verdiso grapes (min 30%), Prosecco grapes (min 30%), Boschera grapes (min 25%). The Boschera vine is cultivated only in the area of Fregona, cold–resistant, and its production is scarce. Clusters are sparse and slightly reddened.
The area of production of the Colli di Conegliano D.O.C. wines includes entirely or in part the territory of twenty Municipalities in the high hills of the Treviso area: Conegliano, Susegana, Pieve di Soligo, Farra di Soligo, Refrontolo, san Pietro di Feletto, Miane, Follina, Cison di Valmarino, Revine Lago, Tarzo, Vittorio Veneto, Fregona, Sarmede, Cappella Maggiore, Cordignano, Colle Umberto, San Fior, San Vendemiano, Vidor.
This area has always been a place of research and production of important wines: the reference, here, is to those wines which, although different, were equalized with the Ministerial Decree of 3rd August 1993, under the same Colli di Conegliano Designation of Controlled Origin: Bianco, Rosso, Refrontolo Passito, Torchiato di Fregona. For all wines produced with this designation, care starts the vineyard: the choice of the most favorable terrain, with high density of planting, unexpanded breeding forms of vineyards, modest yields of grapes per vine.
