On the initiative of the Valdichiana producers, on 9 Decembre 1965 the Bianco Vergine Valdichiana Consortium was founded in Cortona, with the aim of promoting the DOC institution for white wine, implemented with the Decree of the President of the Republic on 1 September 1972. In 1999 the Consortium, which in the meantime had established its headquarters in Arezzo, brought a great change to the specifications, including in the DOC also other types of white and red wines, always produced in Valdichiana, bringing to completion after more than thirty years the right aspirations of producers. The DOC changed its name in Valdichiana and the Consortium took the actual denomination of “Consorzio Vini Valdichiana”. It aims to protect quality and compliance with the specifications, to promote and support production in the markets and towards consumers. For the actions of protection of the quality and compliance with the specifications, the Consortium obtained with the Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of 14 July 2003 the task of vigilance towards its members. This activity, which brings substantial benefits also to consumers, is carried out with periodic controls both in the company (vineyards and wineries) and on the bottled wine collected in sale points.
The Candia Hills, between Massa and Carrara, are well–renowned for their vinegrowing vocation since ancient times. Versilia is located in the immediate vicinity and and the fantastic Apuan Alps of the marble quarries can rely on the resources of an extraordinary microclimate founded on a pleasantly breezy summers and very mild winters.
Vines, therefore, thrive with obvious quality advantages. It has become the absolute protagonist of the landscape, which is characterized by glimpses of charming beauty.
Terraces and slopes demonstrate the effective presence of man in a clever harmony with the environment, a harmony that does not allow room for the hectic life of modern times. Here, customs and family ties, firmly bound to the teachings of the territory, are very important.
Not by chance, the Cima family has been working in farms and producing excellent wines for four generations, continuing a fantastic adventure that began in the nineteenth century.
It is a continuous activity that along the way has helped to create a wealth of experience of incalculable importance. Some requirements have allowed Giovanni Cima and his son Aurelio, who has the task of leading the company in the intriguing journey into the third millennium, to make a prodigious technological leap forward projected into a future that promises to be full of satisfaction.
Sensitivity and intuition, in effect, have made it clear that the enormous potentialities of the area had to be exploited in an appropriate manner, thanks to the helpful suggestions of qualified technicians both in the vineyard and in the winery. In this way, in 1997 a collaboration with the Matura Group has begun.
The significance of the choice, which combined science, the microclimate of the area and entrepreneurial wisdom, has been welcomed favorably, both by the international market and by the specialized critics. Candia has finally come out from myth to constitute a entity of absolute significance, able of giving rise to wines, both red and white, with notable personalities.
The huge efforts and the outstanding achievements seem to open up more and more prestigious prospects.
The Cima Company is spread over an area of 27 hectares of specialized vineyards located in the hills of Candia in the area between Massa and Carrara.
In 1950, thanks to the interest of the medical officer of those days, Josto Miglior, a person who became a legend in Sardinia, and with the help of other enlightened Jerzu people, the Cooperative Winery of Jerzu was founded. Forty–five members with the best and oldest estates of Jerzu process Cannonau grapes grapes obtaining the namesake wine with its characteristic flavor and aroma, rich in body and color.
Symbol of the industriousness of the people of Jerzi, Cantina Antichi Poderi di Jerzu, represented the point of arrival of a long economic process of a town and the intuition of some pioneers of the local farming business.
The roots of the the Ancient Estates of Jerzu have a thousand-year old story. In effect, te first douments on the art of producing wine of the town go back to the twelfth century.
The arrival of the Spaniards in Sardinia boosted further development of this activity, from that moment onwards, the whole community lived, and strengthen its position of preeminence in the surrounding area with the wine trade.
In this way, a migration started, that drove many families to move to the most important centers in the region to open their wine shops, the so–called Epic of ox–drawn carts, from the means of transport by which wine was transferred from the village of Jerzu to new markets.
The winery is located in Jerzu, a charming village located about 500 meters above sea level along the east coast in the heart of Ogliastra, one of the most evocative areas of Sardinia.
The territory is characterized by green hills, white beaches of very fine sand, coves surrounded by unspoilt nature, valleys and mountains with typical limestone wedges and ancient woods which surround the Nuraghe, the Tombs of the Giants and the Domus de Janas, indelible evidences of a thousand–year old civilization. The mountain also offers a lush landscape made of Mediterranean flora and fauna.
The Principi di Butera feud is located in the province of Caltanissetta and stretches on the ancient lands of the Deliella feud.
It is located right in the heart of Sicily, without doubt the most interesting region in Italy, of great potential, that can express itself mainly in the production of great red wines.
The 320 hectares of the estate, of which 180 are grown with vine, are located in a unique terroir: the climatic conditions are characterized by a hot and dry climate; the high temperatures in spring and summer provide the optimal conditions for the development of vines and the perfect ripening of the grapes.
The area under the beneficial influence of the breezes from the nearby sea and illuminated by the warm and strong light of the south of the island.
In this amphitheater, very green vineyards grow in harmony with nature, looking at the sea and are grown with care, love and respect trying to preserve the old traditions.
The Masseria del Feudo company is the entrepreneurial brainchild of two young people, Francesco and Carolina Cucurullo who, after long investigations and visits to wineries, decided to build a winery for the production of quality wines with geographical identification (IGT), inserted in old farm buildings. The project is part of a broader pattern of enhancement and verticalization of four productive sectors: Wine Growing, Fruit Growing, Animal Husbandry and Olive Growing, that represent the activities of a family’s farm, extended 110 hectares ad arrived, with the two young people, to the fourth generation. Together with the vineyards, on which various native and non–native varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Chardonnay, Inzolia and Grillo have been tested, there are also: peach trees with 13 varieties with different maturation times, worked with a calibration line, packaging and storage in cold cellars, a herd of dairy cattle with adjoining dairy factory for the processing of raw materials in typical dairy products. A new structure has been conceived as a farmhouse inn with the aim of accommodating operators, tourists and consumers, who have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on all sectors and discover all the ancient historical, cultural and gastronomic traditions linked to the Sicilian rural world.
The Natale Verga Wine House was founded in 1895 by Enrico Verga and for four generations has been handed down from father to son with the same values of tradition and quality. After more than a century of activity, today the Natale Verga Wine House plays a decisive role in the Italian distribution, as well as being popular in the foreign market.
Currently, the company is led by Natale Verga with the active collaboration of his father Giancarlo and his sisters Cristina and Laura.
The modern and functional establishment is located in the Municipality of Cermenate in the province of Como. It covers an area of 20,000 square meters, with a storage capacity of 25,000 hectoliters. Bottling is done with the use of the most modern technologies. The company has two fully automated bottling lines that guarantee an average production of 10,000 bottles per hour and the capacity of 3,000 bottles of 3 and 5 liters. Thanks to an internal analytical laboratory, equipped with cutting–edge systems, the constant control of all the batches of wine that are processed in the winery is guaranteed.
Giacomo Sperone was founded by Mr. Antonio Sperone, who in 1911 began a craft production of Vermouth and Fortified Wines in a small winery on the outskirts of Turin. They were heroic times, when goods were delivered only in drums loaded on wagons pulled by horses.
Over the years, after a brief interruption due to the outbreak of the First World War, the activities began a gradual but steady growth while remaining territorially limited in Turin and Piedmont.
Only after the end of World War II, the Company began to gradually expand throughout the national territory and abroad thanks to the initiative of his son Giovanni, a graduate oenologist, who succeeded his father and built in 1960 a new and modern plant in Cusano Milanino, near Milan, equipped with the most modern and avant–garde facilities, thanks to which the Company has been able to grow even more by adding a wide range of Sparkling wines, first of all Asti, in its already wide range.
Between the years 70s and 80s, the two sons of Giacomo, Paolo and Antono, joined the company, who, now, manage it.
In 1984 a new winery in the province of Asti, in Casalotto Mombaruzzo, was built, for the production and bottling of a prestigious range of classic wines of Piedmont with the Neirano brand.
The winery is situated among the most picturesque hills of Monferrato, surrounded by 25 hectares of selected vineyards of property.
The Sperone Group is now a beautiful reality in the Italian wine scene, and can be counted among the most important Italian Companies producing Vermouth and sparkling wines.
The story of the Monteverdi family has been linked to the world of wine since 1796 with Angelo Maria Monteverdi who, in his tavern, produced the wine to offer to its guests.
From generation to generation we arrive to 1920, when, with Francesco Monteverdi, the first modern winery was founded, that became soon a reality for all the important wines of the valley of the river Po.
But it is with Antonio Monteverdi and thanks to his foresight, that the fame of the family company grew and consolidated with the production of wines from other Italian regions, with the plan to offer its customers quality wines without compromise, honest and sincere, for a daily consumption.
With this vision, today, the Monteverdi brothers continue the family tradition of looking with serenity to the future that father Antonio, with so much passion and tenacity, with insight and foresight, has planned for the future generations.

The Monteverdi wines in the world
Since more than twenty years now, the MONTEVERDI company is addressed not only to the domestic market but also international. Our products are sold in over 40 countries and export now represents 70% of the company production. The export, in addition to cover the whole of Europe, includes also many extra–European areas such as Africa, the Caribbean, South America and Southeast Asia.
There, where the Tiber valley is dominated by Mount Soratte, green hills decorated by lush vineyards stretch.
It is in this area, where the Santa Lucina Estate extends, where a sweet wine is produced. It is the municipality of Poggio Mirteto, that has been hosting this winery since 1979. It is the Colantuono family, who strongly wanted to affirm the goodness of the Sabine wine, in Italy and beyond. The Santa Lucia Estate stretches for 45 hectares that, knowing how to cultivate knowledge and love for farming, have proved to be excellent for the production of different types of wine, a wine high quality: Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Cabernet, Alicante, Carignano, Falanghina, Sauvignon, Malvasia.
The estate has been belonging to the same family for generations. The only one heir and current owner is Marco Carpineti, who, in 1986, driven by the desire to live in the nature, decided to move exclusively, and in first person, in the farming company owned by his family, with the aim of changing its production philosophy. In effect, he began to transform the methods of grape production and to market the wines obtained. The most significant change was undoubtedly the adoption, in 1994, of the methods of organic farming, fruit of the desire to create really healthy products. In 1997, after the three years required for the conversion, the company was recognized as Organic by the institute of control of Soil and Health with corporate code recognition IT ASS 2368 and has been working for more than 14 years in strict compliance with the Community rules on organic farming. For the care of the plants and the processing of raw materials, in effect, herbicides, chemical fertilizers and synthetic products are not used. To better respect the environment and for a more high–quality product, in most of the estate works on the soil are not carried out, but weeds are kept under control through repeated mowings. The company currently consists of approximately 52.5 acres of property, of which more or less 41 cultivated with vineyards, and 11.5 with olive groves. It is situated at an altitude ranging from 200 to 450 meters above sea level in the locality of Cape Le Mole, Casale, Pezze di Ninfa and SAN PIETRO in the town of Cori, an ancient town in Lazio dating back to the fourth century BC which is located south of Rome. The area, situated on the slopes of the Lepine mountains facing south–west, has a cool climate in summer and mild in winter, very favorable to the cultivation of vines and olive trees. The soil is of volcanic origin, is rich in structure, particularly tuff, in the lowest part, hence the name of one of the Hills: Tufaliccio, while in the highest part it has a constituent calcareous skeleton. In Capo Le Mole vineyards grow on five other hills, besides the already mentioned Tufaliccio: Collesanti, Colle Paolino, Vignale della Selva, Costa Filippani and Casa Vecchia. In Pezze di Ninfa locality there is a unique plot, lying on the side of the mountain, with a very strong slope and rich in limestone, that is currently being renovated. In San Pietro locality the vineyards stretch over volcanic soils with gentle slopes. The white grape varieties grown have always been: Bellone, Arciprete Bianco (Bellone biotype), Malvasia Puntinata, Trebbiano and two varieties of Greco grapes, known locally as Moro and Giallo, almost disappeared in the area. Those with red berries are: Nero Buono di Cori, Montepulciano, Cesanese and Sangiovese. The vines are for 30% over 25 years old, 50% about 10 years old and for the rest 5 years old, on average. The density of plants per hectare varies from 1,300, for the oldest vineyards, to 5,000, for the most recent ones.
The new winery, almost completed, appropriate to the company’s growing needs, at the moment is booming. Now, there is substantial space for processing, storage, fining and maturation of the product, as well as for the reception of guests and tastings. The inclusion in the production phase of cutting–edge technologies and new wooden barrels of different sizes are giving significant results.
The olive groves in the locality of Capo Le Mole with an extension of 9 hectares and in the locality of Casale with 2.5 hectares, are made from ancient plants of the Itrana variety. From the produced olives we get, through cold extraction, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, certified as Organic, too.

The Villa Gianna winery expresses in Lazio the experience of the pioneering work of three generations and a special love for the pontine lands.
Technology, the quality of products, the experience of the founders, make of the Villa Gianna winery a company of a unique value, run by the Giannini family as authentic pioneers of viticulture in the pontine plain.
Since the 80s the quality experimentation, never stopped, has generated new cultivars, highlighting a special environment for the grapes because enriched by the continuous exposure to the sun (from dawn to dusk) and the special brackish essence typical of the pontine area. All the vineyards are nestled among the promontory, the Circeo National Park, the Ninfa hills and the Lepine and Aurunci mountains.
The Giannini family are now the master vintners of Circeo, who have been giving amazing wines that convey the emotion of working in the vineyards and the typical fragrances that enhance the area of origin.
The company is composed of four vineyards, of which two are obtained in the area of the Roman Castles with DOC, one belonging to the Aprilia DOC area and the other enrolled in the Lazio IGT register. Is cultivated by the method of organic agriculture, therefore without the use of chemical synthesis, both for treatments and for fertilization. Alternatively, copper is used (max 5kg per hectare per year), and sulfur, as well as the Bacillus thuringiensis against the moth, in case of necessity, after checking the effective presence of parasite eggs on the grapes. The vineyard are grown with espalier method with pruning of guyot or spurred cordon type. The plant density is of 4,000 plants per hectare. The grape varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon, Malvasia Puntinata, Pignoletto, Vermentino, Grechetto of Orvieto, Chardonnay, Viognier, Falanghina, all with rootstock SO4 for a total of 38. Irrigation is not practiced, only in case of emergency. The yield per hectare is limited thanks to the lack of any type of forcing.
Il Quadrifoglio farm began producing wine in 2000 after having been for many years a producer of grapes, which were bestowed by local wineries. The idea took shape over time thanks to a renewed passion of the new generations and to a series of experiments that helped to understand the potential of the territory. The upgrading of old viticultural practices that had gone lost in time, combined with proper training on modern winemaking techniques, led us to develop awareness and sensitivity towards wine.
