A company which has experienced an exponential growth in almost twenty years. La Montina has created a selection capable of conveying an absolute respect for the varietal characteristics of the grape varieties and the designations of local origin: wines are well–balanced, complex by nature, without exaggerations in the management of woods for winemaking, nor excesses of those fragrant notes that often veil the authenticity of sparkling wines.
Moncaro company has always been characterized by its strong bond to the territory of the Marche region and its environment. Maybe also for this reason, Moncaro considers itself expression of the culture of the Marche region: it is its heart and represents its heart.
As in other realities of this Land, there is strong desire and the will to finally reveal the beauty and the goodness of its products. Moncaro believes in it: there must be a way to become known, speaking to the world without “screaming”: offering quality and service, but with personality and style. Speaking, in short, the language of the global world, being strongly tied to our land and our culture.
Always, in effect, engaged in the work of selection and improvement of the vineyards, with particular attention to the cultivation techniques to better the environmental conditions in the country as well as the quality of products, Moncaro over the years has specialized its production focusing on the Marche region.
Today, the company, as symbolized by the three swallow–tailed merlons placed in its trademark, it has three wineries and vineyards in the three most important wine–producing areas of the region. The Winery of Montecarotto, in the heart of the classic “Castelli di Jesi” area; the Winery of Conero, in Camerano, on the slopes of Monte Conero, and the latest in order of acquisition, the Winery of Acquaviva, in southern Marche in high Piceno area.
Santa Barbara company has pursuited, from the beginning of its activity, two objectives: the revitalization of local grapes, Verdicchio and Montepulciano, and the creation of wines of “international taste” with great originality and personality.
The aim we focus on is certainly not easy, but wine requires courage combined with a hint of recklessness. In the panorama of Verdicchio, in addition to the already known Pignocco Bianco, Le Vaglie and Stefano Antonucci, from this year there is also “Tardivo ma non Tardo”, a classic Verdicchio from overripen plants of the 2001 vintage.
We are very pleased with the quality, after four attempts in the harvests of preceding years we managed to get a very special wine, which contains musk fragrances together with great persistence, characteristics that makes us hope for a good longevity.
Another novelty, “Il Maschio da Monte”, Montepulciano in single variety aged in barriques: the first vintage of the 2000 harvest was a great success, achieving even “5 Grappoli” in the AIS guide 2003. It is a wine that is strongly linked to our region, that enhances the benefits of this great, but extremely difficult, grape variety.
The intense aromas of cherries and wild berries have intrigued and attracted consumers who have made it their favorite.
We develop, finally, the second point of the program: in this context “Pathos” is produced from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes in equal parts, but with a peculiarity: all three grapes are grown in the same vineyard, a really interesting thing. Aged in French oak barrels that were “new” even in the 2000 harvest, it has already shown signs of great personality. Much more convincing the 2001 edition, with even more vertical hints of wild berries combined with a truly remarkable elegance.
Santa Barbara continues, however, in its experimental research that always tends to enhance the products of our great land.
Azienda Marotti Campi, owner of lands for over a century, is located near Morro d’Alba, the ancient village north of Jesi, that developes around its castle, with great towers “related” to the open walkway called “La Scarpa” and that stands on the hills overlooking the sea, in the province of Ancona. Sweet hills and rich soils that have always been suited to viticulture. The villa is a nice residence of sober features, harmonious and perfectly integrated into the landscape, was created in the nineteenth century on the hill of S.Amico, where settlements in Roman and Medieval periods arose.
The great love for this land and the passion for this activity have brought the family to make of this area a nice place where you can taste and appreciate excellent DOC wines.
From the beginning of its history, Azienda Vinicola Umani Ronchi has distinguished itself as a great interpreter of the two most representative wines of the Marche region: Verdicchio and Rosso Conero.
Massimo Bernetti, since the 90s, has been with his son Michele (in the picture) at the head of the company. After creating wines appreciated all over the world, renewing plants of vineyards and renovating the large winery of Osimo, he was not satisfied yet and with stubbornness maintained stable the imperative of a high quality product. All this translates today into a serious work of agricultural trials, care of vineyards and the adoption of the most advanced techniques of cultivation and winemaking.
In recent years, the increased interest in the wines produced in neighboring Abruzzo region has prompted the Umani Ronchi SpA to purchase, in 2002, Montipagano, a 30–hectare estate in the Teramo Hills, suited sub–area of the DOC Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, which was awarded with the prestigious DOCG recognition. Here, in the charming farmhouse that overlooks the estate, rich in vineyards, a vinificaton cellar will be built, in addition to the already existing aging cellar.
The staff of Mosnel, skillfully headed by Giulio and Lucia Barzan, gave us the opportunity to evaluate a variegated range of wines, with really encouraging average scores. Leading the tasting, Franciacorta Emanuela Barboglio, which combines ductility and drinking immediacy and polychromatic complexity. Nice surprise Franciacorta Brut Rosé: clear, “joyful” and very persistent.
That of the products of Monte Schiavo is a big nice family, where each person has his/her own characteristics but where all recognize themselves in common values: the pursuit of quality, the origin from higly suited terroirs, a cutting-edge processing that provides taste and hygiene. Enlarged, for obvious correlativity, to extra virgin olive and spirits, is the range of products covering all consumer needs, from meals, to happy hours, to desserts, enhancing any dish of meat or fish, making it a valuable and enjoyable opportunity for every consumer.
Azienda Agricola Valturio, founded by Adriano Galli and Isabella Santarelli, was founded in 2002 on the project of bringing Montefeltro back to the production of high level wine, according to a tradition that has centuries–old testimonies, from the times of the Dukes of Montefeltro to the beginning of the latest century.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Antimi Clari family, one of the most illustrious of Macerata Feltria, repeatedly won gold medals at the National Wine Exhibition of Turin and traces of old barrels are stil in the cellars of Palazzo Gentili Belli.
The deceased lawyer Egisto Gentili Belli told that his family, always at the beginning of the latest century, gave to France the products of the spinning mill which he owned in exchange for oak barrels for aging wine.
Velenosi Vini is a winery that produces high-quality wines using traditional methods and modern techniques. The winery is known for its unique blends and grape varieties grown in the surrounding hills. The production process is sustainable and environmentally friendly, ensuring the preservation of the local ecosystem. The wines are characterized by their intense aromas, rich flavors, and elegant finish, making them suitable for any occasion.
From documents of the municipality of Ripatransone, it is proven that Serafino Capecci cultivated these lands with effort and love already in 1905.
From Serafino to his son Vincenzo, “Nz’Nz”, sharecropper since 1922, to the actual farm, founded in 1974 when the son of Vincenzo, Domenico, became the owner of the land.
In 1988, the company that has always produced its wines, began to sell bottled wine, aware of the quality of the land, of the potential of grapes and an of an increasingly demanding market.
Simone, the fourth generation, continues the enhancement of the wines of the family and Piceno tradition, with great interest and enthusiasm.
San Savino Company maintains a constant focus on research and innovation, in enhancing various popular traditional and native varieties: Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Pecorino and Passerina. A very old ancestry for wines that are the historical roots of Italian wine: if it is true that the first to take care of these vines were the Picenes, the ancient inhabitants of this territory.
In Carmignano vines have been cultivated already in the pre–Roman era, about 3,000 years ago, as evidenced by vases for wine and tasting cups found in Etruscan tombs.
In the archives of the state in Florence, a parchment dated 804 has been found: it is a lease contract which provides documentary evidence that already 1,200 years ago in Capezzana vines and olive trees were cultivated for the production of oil and wine.
In the early Renaissance a woman, Monna Nera Bonaccorsi, built the first “Casa dei Signori” and nine farm houses with their planting of vineyards. Other generations and families have come and gone in the grounds of the estate: the Cantucci, related with the Medici family, who for over 150 years have owned and improved the company. In particular, Maria Maddalena Cantucci, married in 1734 to the Marquis Bourbon del Monte, purchased new lands increasing the number of farms, created new vineyards and built a new largest winery and other corporate buildings. Its perfect administration is witnessed by account books – yet in the archive of Capezzana – where all is annotated with precision.
Alessandro Contini Bonacossi bought Trefiano and the farm of Poggetto from the Marquis Amman Niccolini bringing the number of homesteads to 125. A new vat cellar was built, designed by the architect Michelucci, the area cultivated with vines was brought to 100 hectares, and wine and oil was exported all over the world.

Fonterutoli is located 5 km south of Castellina in Chianti (Siena), on the hills that face Val d’Elsa, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Owned by the Mazzei family since 1435, it still retains its original appearance of a quiet country village: a few houses, the church of San Miniato and the villa, built at the end of the sixteenth century replacing the fortified castle.
The company now covers a total area of 650 hectares, of which 117 are specialized vineyards, divided into five zones: Fonterutoli, Siepi, Badiola, Belvedere, Caggio, located between 230 and 500 meters above sea level with exposures to the south and south–west.
The structure of the soil results from the disintegration of alberese and sandstone rocks, and is very rich in stones, so that the wine of Fonterutoli is often called “the wine of the stones”. Hence, the choice of an environmentally friendly cultivation and of a production of less than 40 hectoliters per hectare, ensuring a very high quality and a personality that is always very strong and recognizable. The excellent exposure of the vineyards, the exceptional soils and microclimate conditions and the density of vines, brought progressively to over 7,000 plants per hectare, allow to convey to the wines complexity, elegance and power.
ROCCA DI MONTEMASSI is a family-owned winery that specializes in producing high-quality wines using traditional winemaking techniques. The winery is committed to sustainable farming practices and uses only the finest grapes grown on their estate vineyards. Their wines are known for their complex flavors, elegant palate, and exceptional quality. Besides, the winery offers wine tasting and tours, allowing visitors to experience the history and beauty of the region.
The Farm develops over an area of 160 hectares, of which: 31 of vineyards, 11 of olive groves, 40 of woodland, 78 as arable land, meadow and pasture. The soils are highly variable, tuffaceous with more than 70% sand, sandy silt, sandy clay, alkaline, calcareous soils.
The average altitude is of about 270 m above sea level, the microclimate characterized by extreme temperature changes between day and night, often by medium to high temperatures even during the harvest. The vineyards are all in a privileged position and exposure.
The processings are still mainly manual, performed with assiduous care.
In San Giusto a Rentennano only grapes from owned vineyards are vinified. The grape production/plant rate is reduced by thinning the clusters in July/August, to the extent of 30–50% of the spontaneous load, according to the need of the vintage.
