Vendrame Vignis Del Doge

The "Vendrame Vignis del Doge" firm is located in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and is situated in the heart of the Friuli Grave D.O.C. in the province of Udine, right in front of Villa Manin which was the summer residence of the last Doge of Venice – Ludovico Manin. From 1,600, Villa Manin was a very important agricultural complex including a vast cultivation of grape vines on the grounds known as "VIGNIS" now property of the Vendrame family. One whole wing of the villa, now a restaurant, was the canteen and the wines, thanks to a new means of communication, reached Austria and the European courts very quickly. This villa, the largest of the region, is famous because on the 17th October, 1,797, the Treaty of Campoformio which signaled the end of the glorious Republic of Venice was signed by Napoleon Bonaparte and the Hapsburgs of Austria. The Venetian city, in fact, was surrendered to Austria, along with Istria and Dalmatia. After the middle of the 1800's, the villa with its canteen and its vineyards was abandoned and left to decay. With the purchase of the lands in 1968, the discovery of this forgotten history, the choice of the trademark, the fusion of the surname Vendrame with the antique name Vignis, and the Doge's horn which is the symbol of the authority of the Doge, life was given to the "VENDRAME VIGNIS DEL DOGE". So, a bit of history is passed into the present and life and continuation is given to a vinicultural and enological tradition from these lands.

TIARE

Tiare, owned by Roberto Snidarcig, was set up in 1991 in Cormons, in the Collio Doc area, and ideal zoneinclined to wine-growing and wine-producing.At first 1985 it was only an amateur activity. In fact, it had little more than one hectare of land. But, it corresponded to a deep-rooted, intense passion: almost an exclamation (tiare in Friulano mrans land), certainly a dream to come true. Which, in fact, over the years came true, given that nowadays the estate has almost 10 hectares of wineyards and an autonomous cellar, whare the 100 thousand bottles of the 12 wines produced are aged. You can reach us in the new headquarters in Dolegna del Collio, in the locality Vencò.

AGRITURISMO SKERLJ

The Skerlij family runs this charming farmhouse, and with two hectares of land planted with vines can produce about 2,400 bottles of wine a year from native vines.

Ronco di Prepotto

The "Ronco Prepotto" winery has belonged to the Macorig family since 1901 and is located in an area that is particularly suited to viticulture: Prepotto in the province of Udine
You have to climb on foot or go up in a jeep in order to see the wineyards planted on the heights of Prepotto, south-east of Cividale del Friuli, in the eastern hills of Friuli close up. Amond the woos and meadows, along winding dirty roads you will come across terraces of the new and old plants. Vineyards have always grown here as the Macorig fanily since 1901.
Giuseppe Macorig, in fact, had a house and a small vineyard in Prepotto, which he passed to his son, Gino, then to Annibale father of Giampaolo, the current owner (although his father is a solid shoulder to lean on in all business decisions). Managing the estate really is passion for him together with a desire to see it grow too.
From the Macorig family, in the hills of Prepotto, with their beautifully aspected and resiliend land, it is impossible not to talk about fine wines. Attention to the vineyard, the grapes themselves, to the raising, the cellar and of course the wine.
So, the vineyards have all been rearranged, and a good 35% of them, completely renewed (almost all using the Guyot method with a plant density of 4500-5000 vines per hectar). Vine management has a low enviroment impact: no herbicides, or drying agents are used and chemical fertilizers are used in very small doses (we prefer to opt for organic ones with the distribution of the good old manure ...)<, treatment is only used for defense purposes if necessary.
The harvest, of course, is completely by hand using crates, and is carried out several times in order to pick the grapes at just the right level of ripeness. Part of all grape varieties is left to dry in the big, well ventilated barn, once part of the old farmhouse buildings where the grape clusters are hung, one by one, on hundreds of hooks palced in rows under the roof. A great sacrifice, which bot father and son, deem necessary. In the cellar, the use of wooden barrels is used in the most intelligent way possible depending on the grape variety in any given vantage.
Strategic choices have led to diversification of production, and subsequentelly of distribution, through the creation of two product lines: the exciting "Ronco di Prepotto" blends, and the pure, autochtonous "vineyards of the sacred Mountains" wines.

The passion for the land and its fruits, grapes and olives, has distinguished the Parovel family from generation to generation. In 1976 and thanks to father Zoran, the Parovel winery was the first company in the Karst area to offer its native wines in bottles, in addition to extra virgin olive oil from the autochthonous Bianchera-Belica variety, unique for its organoleptic properties. Among the extra virgin olive oils the Tergeste Dop stands out with the monovarietal of Bianchera-Belica called UL'KA Parovel. The freshness, frankness and genuineness of each variety, which is expressed both in the wine and in the extra virgin olive oil, characterize the Parovel style built according to the rhythms and evolutions of nature and man. Moreover, and thanks to the passion of father Zoran for Istrian Malvasia, a cultivation started by his grandfather Pietro in 1898, the Parovel company is one of the historical custodians of its territorial interpretations and expressions. Numerous annual meetings are organized in Cantina Parovel. Moreover, the Osmiza festival is the ideal time to combine traditional local products with Barde wines and Parovel extra-virgin olive oils Ul'ka Rozo 'and Mackè. Each visit is organized around a sensory journey that begins in the countryside through the oil mill and ends in the cellar. Here, wines and oils are an opportunity to meet Trieste's art, philosophy and culture: they convey the sense of belonging to an ancient family of winemakers with Slovenian roots, which is today characterized by a creative and innovative spirit that it is revealed both in the countryside and in the bottle.
