It is an emotion to us, as in the past edition, to award this rare expression of Lambrusco.
The vineyards of San Patrignano extend on the hills of Coriano (inside the perimeter of the community) and overlook the coast of Rimini, 5 km far, more or less.
More than one hundred hectares of vineyards, all in one body. The activities in the countryside regarding the cultivation of vineyards accompany the succession of the seasons. They start in the winter months, with the pruning of plants, to arrive in March, with folding. To follow, there are the choice of the shoots and the conveyance of the vegetation. So, the operations of thinning and harvesting commit for about a month hundreds of young people from all sectors of the community. The activity of the winery continues with fining (time varies) and bottling. After a rest period, wine is labeled and stored, until shipment to the final customer.
The wines produced by the community have obtained, in recent years, the most prestigious Italian and international awards, also thanks to the precious collaboration of Riccardo Cotarella, prestigious name in the Italian and overseas wine scene, who since 1997 helps and supports the professional growth of young people in the cellar.
Cantina della Volta produces and sells two types of Lambrusco wines:
– Lambrusco di Modena Spumante D.O.C., produced from grapes harvested by hand, collected in boxes and pressed, that ages in bottles on selected yeasts.
After leaving the winery, it is exposed to remuage and disgorgement, as happens for the classic method sparkling wines of high level. The liqueur is the final sign that completes the winemaking process of a high quality sparkling wine with extraordinary organoleptic features.
– Lambrusco di Sorbara D.O.C. Rimosso, with double fermentation in bottle and permanence on its own yeasts until the moment of tasting. In this way, the presence of a natural sediment is a characteristic of the product.
Within three years, Cantina della Volta will offer also three Sparkling wines obtained from the grapes of the San Lorenzo Dietro il Monte Estate, in Riccò di Serramazzoni (Modena).
Owned by the Fontana family in the Sixties, LA PICCOLA ESTATE is located in the heart of Emilia, between the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Parma.
The company consists of a single body of 25 hectares, all of property, entirely grown with vines and organic. The production area is particularly suited; on the Reggio banks of the river Enza, at an altitude of 105 meters above sea level. Our soils have the best climatic and geological features, to whom we owe the high quality of the wine we produce.
The turning point towards high quality was implemented in the nineties, when Mr. Licinio Fontana, returning from a trip to Burgundy and other journeys between Tuscany and South Tyrol, understood to have to change the estate, implementing the most stringent production parameters to obtain high quality wines. Yesterday mocked by fellow producers, today guiding light for many companies that recognize the LA PICCOLA ESTATE style, the winner style. The other winning bet was the formation of a team of men, who, through their work, have allowed the realization of the project. For the men of LA PICCOLA ESTATE, making wine is an ancient art, a passion known and respected that comes from the deep and vital bond that unites them to the ground. An attentive love, made up of habits unchanged over time, outlining a work towards the future. A young and dynamic staff, always on the pursuit of perfection, led by a young oenologist, Dr. Giulio Davoli, aided by winemakers and vinegrowers of great experience.
Fausto Altariva drives forward the winemaking tradition of his family. Since 10 years he has been following the philosophy of organic farming to obtain quality and genuine wines, including a wide range of Grasparossa.
The company reached the pinnacle of quality with the traditional varieties that express exceptionally the territory of origin.
Tenuta Valli was founded in 1960 by the union of the "La Tenuta" farming estate, with the historic "Valli Vini" brand, which since 1859 has been distinguishing itself for the production of quality wines.
The crops follow the practices of organic farming, in respect of local products and of biodiversity: wheat, alfalfa, pasture for the breedingo of Romagna breed cattle and thirty hectares of specialized vineyards.
Santa Lucia estate was founded in the early '60s when my father's land was added to my paternal grandfather's one, thus forming a farm of about 100 ha of which 12 are vineyards. They are located at 250 m. above sea level at Mercato Saraceno in the Savio valley, right in the heart of Romagna. Towards the end of the '90s there was a turning point: the farm specialized in winegrowing; a revolution which started from the vineyards to continue in the cellar. Thanks to the advice of important Italian winemakers we were able to carry out a plan aiming at upgrading the production and exploiting the culture, the history and the traditions of our belt.
Azienda Agricola Merlotta has its roots in 1962 on the rolling hills of Imola, which dominate the ancient Via Emilia, just a few meters from Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna, on the border with Tuscany. Over the years, te company has been continuously expanded and qualified, and today covers an area of about 45 hectares divided into two units: Tenuta Merlotta and Tenuta Coccapane.
Massimo Rocchi cultivates his vines in one of the areas with the highest potential of the territory of Bertinoro; the wines are of high quality and level, of extreme elegance.
The TRERE’ farming company was founded in the early 60s.
Valeriano Trerè had the opportunity and the desire to start an activity on his own by buying 14 hectares of land on the hills of Faenza.
