La Porta di Vertine

The story of Porta di Vertine begins in 2006 when Dan and Ellen Lugosch buy a vineyard in the form of an amphitheater in the village of Vertine, in Gaiole, in the Chianti Classico area. Their main interest is to explore the characteristics of the Sangiovese vineyards, selecting and choosing the soil that make its complexity and attitude to aging stand out in the best way.

Il Borro

What today is considered the Il Borro Estate, actually arose as a place with a long past which would be a meeting-place and a source of work for residents in the area. The heart of the Estate is really the small Medieval Village which, with a history going back to far-away 1039, is built on the craggy rocks of the "borro", a term used to indicate a ravine formed by the bed of a stream.
Today the Estate has returned to a new splendour, thanks to the care lavished on it and the lengthy restoration work carried out by the new owners.

The bygone traditions of these places live again, as they always did in the past.

Fattoria di Gratena

On a south facing hillock of the gentle sloping hills of Lucca, lies the Fattoria di Fubbiano, a 45 hectares (135 acres) estate comprised of vineyards, olive groves and woods. Here, winters are mild and cornucopia of wild flowers begins blooming as early as January. At Fubbiano we are committed to nurturing the exceptional agricultural potential of our property by developing exciting groves and vines and diversifying our products while promoting indigenous varieties of olives and grapes. We strongly believe in maintaining the delicate chain of a balanced biological ecosystem and only use traditional organic products to protect our vines from deseases. Weed-killers or insecticides are never applied.

The company, situated in the Chianti area, today is managed by Elena and Francesca Bini Moriani, who continue, year after year, in their accurate work of renowing of the company’s structure.
