The best wineries in Santo Stefano Belbo.
Thanks to the dream of three young brothers and love of the land, in 2000 "La Tribuleira", a small family farm, was founded.
In 1999 Mauro Gallo, after graduating at the Agricultural Technical Institute, and becoming a specialist in Viticulture and Oenology, together with his younger siblings Daniele and Elisa, decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather Eugenio, a historic cellerer in a well–known winery in the area.
The grounds of the company extend in the town of Santo Stefano Belbo, a small village of the Langhe characterized by its outstanding and historic vineyards, which do not allow high mechanization, but thanks to the sun, the exposure, and many efforts originate the flavors and aromas of our culinary tradition. From this all, the name "La Tribuleira" comes, that does not mean only to struggle in the true literary sense, but that wants to pay tribute to the sacrifices and hard work that are necessary to achieve and maintain these typical and unique products related to our culture.
Currently, about 8.5 hectares are planted with vines on a hillside area, which is divided into different types of vines: white Moscato 6.5 hectares, Chardonnay 0.35 hectares, Barbera 0.38 hectares, Nascetta 0.5 hectares and Albarossa 0.5 hectares.
The excellent exposure to south south–west is associated with a sandy soil with marl, a special microclimate and a production philosophy oriented towards the development of the grapes produce: winter short pruning and proper green pruning, thinning of excess grapes ect ... makes it possible to obtain red and white wines that are fragrant, harmonious and structured.
All wines are produced with traditional winemaking techniques employing the same philosophy adopted in the vineyard, that is, trying to find the right balance between technology and tradition to keep all the flavors of our land.
In 2000 they entered the market with two products: the Langhe D.O.C. Chardonnay and the king of the wines in the region, Moscato d’Asti DOCG, in which part of the grapes are sold to wineries in the area and part of selected grapes are processed in our winery.
In 2003 they expanded their range of wines producing a Barbera d’Asti DOC and a sublime Piemonte D.O.C. Moscato Passito in which only the better suited to drying grapes of Moscato are harvested; drying takes place within the premises of the company at controlled temperature and humidity, to obtain a concentrated liquor with the taste of ripe fruit and intense aroma.
In 2004 they increased their production again, planting two typical of Piedmont grape varieties: Nascetta and Albarossa are two native grape varieties in the region of Piedmont rediscovered within the past decade.
Nascetta is a white grape variety, suitable for producing fresh white wines with a fine bouquet.
Albarossa is a red grape variety, obtained in 1938 by Professor G. Dal Masso, crossing two varieties Nebbiolo and Barbera, perfect for producing rich and harmonious wines.
In order to introduce our wines and to taste them, we have created a special room: the cozy tasting room.
Here we invite visitors to sit down after a visit to the winery rooms to see the results of our work and to let you discover the aroma and flavor originating from the good traditions of the Langa.
The vineyard estate CA' DU SINDIC is nestled amongst the rolling hills of Santo Stefano Belbo, a small town in the heart of the Moscato area.
The family is originally from the nearby village of Cossano Belbo where Ilario Grimaldi together with his wife Vittorina and son Sergio cultivated a manageable piece of land on the San Pietro hill.
Unfortunately is was only partially suitable for the cultivation of grapes, so they looked around in the close-by area of Santo Stefano Belbo for a piece of fertile soil especially appropriate for the cultivation of the fragrant and aromatic Moscato and struck gold in 1972 when they found the San Grato hill, which was in a perfect position for their „object of desire“. For sale was the former mayor of Santo Stefano Belbos' house which also took it's name from him: Ca' Du Sindic (piemontese for „sindaco“, mayor). The estates vineyards of five hectares have been cultivating moscato grapes since the beginning of 1900.
For the next 15 years they sold the yield to major producers but
the grapes were so beautiful and fragrant that Sergio decided in 1987 to produce and merchandise his own Moscato d'Asti and hence the vineyard estate CA' DU SINDIC was born.

The Fornos have a long history in Santo Stefano Belbo, documented as early as the mid-1600's. Still today, maps of the area show the Forno farmstead, also known as Il Falchetto Estate. They are a family of winegrowers and winemakers, devoted to the vine and to wine for four generations. Pietro Forno began producing Moscato in 1940, and while in 1980 the Fornos renovated their wine production facility introducing new winemaking technology, they seek to integrate their ancestral tradition and teachings.
In 2000, Il Falchetto Estate increased its prestige with the purchase of the Bricco Paradiso and Pian Scorrone estates in Agliano Terme, considered the heart of the historical Barbera d'Asti production area. Today the Tenuta il Falchetto Estate, proudly managed by brothers Giorgio, Fabrizio and Adriano Forno, includes two estates in the Langhe region and three on the Monferrato hills for a total of 24.5 hectares (60.5 acres). From this they produce 11 different wines, wines and varietals both typical of the territory and known worldwide.
The wine farm lies on Moncucco hill, a zone that has been regarded for many years for Moscato wine production. The farm was founded in 1988 by Piero Gatti, a man who loved his work and was very attached to the land and its tradition.
Today it is still managed by his family and they continue to produce wines of excellent quality. This is the result of careful selection of the grapes and precise wine-making in the cellar.
