The best wineries in Cupramontana.
For three generations the Bonci family has been producing and selling quality wines. The farm has 50 hectares of land, of which 35 are vineyards specialized in the production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi classic DOC and Rosso Piceno DOC. The particular microclimate, the careful selection of the grapes, many years of experience along with the most modern techniques of artisan winemaking, rank the wines of the Bonci house in a leading position in the Italian market; a company that has always wanted to improve, as evidenced by the presence of two experimental vineyards followed with care in collaboration with the Institute of Arboreal Cultivation of the University of Milan.
Being vinegrowers, to us, means first and foremost to tell the land, with its many complexities, and follow the seasons, with their evolutions that are always different. And, for this reason, we have chosen an organic method of growing, so as to express, undistorted, what the land brings with it, of course.
And then, this means to follow directly the entire production process, from the ground up to the consumer.
For years, we have been working in the vineyards trying to preserve and leave full expression to biodiversity, sowing among rows faba bean, vetch, pea, alfalfa and letting the wild plants thrive. We do not fertilize, we only use small doses of sulfur and copper. Once or twice a year we spray the biodynamic preparation 500 ("cornoletame").
Low yields per vine, accurate selection of grapes during harvest – done by hand, in small boxes – the spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, low levels of sulfur dioxide, careful refinements, are fundamental parts of our work.
The winery is located in the sunny San Michele district of Cupramontana, the town of Verdicchio, grapes are vinified to obtain a limited production of bottles for haute cuisine restaurants, wine shops, and individuals.
Our story
Our first vineyards date back to the early 70s and are located in the municipality of San Paolo di Jesi, a classic area of production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. In the early 90s we have also begun to grow young olive trees in the municipality of Cupramontana. With the growth of the olive grove, the quality and quantity of its fruits have confirmed their intention to bottle the extra virgin olive oil that it yields.
Our two realities: wine and oil
Verdiccio is alongside extra virgin olive oil, produced from an olive grove planted in the 90s in the area of Cupramontana, where the olive tradition has been rooted for centuries, we find references to olive oil and its properties already in Medieval period. Variety, climate and soil are the elements that determine the specific sensory features of Benforte extra virgin olive oil.
Since 1960 the Cherubini family has been loving to make know the peculiarity of its territory of belonging through their wines, a concentrated of passion and respect for the land and its traditions.
Azienda Vinicola Sparapani company was founded in Cupramontana, the noble and ancient home of Verdicchio, near the old hermitage of white friars.
Here in a small winery the winemaking traditions are handed down. This latest generation formed by the paternal wisdom and the enthusiasm of three children, they decided to promote these traditions and grow this little reality of winemakers.
The company was founded in 1985 and from the beginning has aimed to focus on the quality of its products, through the selection and the updating of the the techniques in the field and the wine cellar. All this is favoured by the microclimate, the altitude, the terrain and especially by the 12 hectares of "Verdicchio" vine that allow to produce wines of great value.
On the initiative of 19 farmers, the Colonnara cooperative was founded in Cupramontana in 1959. The ideal microclimate of the sweet hills of the Marche region led to the cultivation of Verdicchio, which has become over the years one of the prides of this land. The company now has 110 members and, through the use of innovative technologies and the practice of an eco–compatible agriculture, has developed a production characterized by high–quality wines and sparkling wines, around the country and abroad.
Around here they say wine is made in the vineyard, in the winery can only be educated and then present it in the bottle as well and the company has embraced in the best way this precious value linked to the origins. The flavour of tradition, in effect, accompanies the whole wine–making process: from the constant care of the vines, to the aging in the cellar, to the care of the bottles that enrich our table. A worthy tribute to the quality of the wine.
