This is the father of Caberbet Sauvignon and is more interesting than its relatives because, in its turn, derives from the Latin carbon vitis, a grape variety that gave a very appreciated wine, of "smoky" taste. Even today, in part, Cabernet Franc expresses notes of smoke pepper, but also hints of berries, crunchy peppers, balsamic sensations and ripe fruit. In Tuscany, it is a vine widespread in Bolgheri, in Montecucco and in the Maremma in general. It characterizes the wines that contain it with "piranzine": substances which usually give notes of pepper. But in the terroir of higher vocation, legumes and pepper notes give way to cedar, licorice and fruity notes. Its personality (as well as that of Cabermet Sauvignon), however, is never lost, and its characteristics are recognizable everywhere this grape is cultivated, while assuming the particular connotations of the place of adoption.
