Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari

The Folonari family has been working in the wine sector since the end of the eighteenth century. In 1825 the family activity became Fratelli Folonari company, wholly owned, whose mission was to develop, produce and distribute the best Italian wines in the world.

In 1912 Italo Folonari, the grandfather of Ambrogio Folonari, with his brother Francesco, bought the Ruffino company, known at the time for typically packaged in flasks Chianti.



After the Second World War, some profound changes in Italy in terms of economic growth and standard of living became highly visible. This trend influenced the wine sector, in which the Folonari family, especially Ambrogio, were among the first to promote this new trend by producing high quality wines that helped to create the “new frontier” of Italian wine. At the end of the 60s the family sold the Fratelli Folonari company, which was placed on the segment of table wines, and began to focus on the bottled wines originally thanks to the purchasing of the famous estate of Nozzole near Greve in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico. At the same time they bought other estates in Tuscany with the aim of producing fine wines, including Cabreo, designed by Ambrogio in the 80s.

In 2000, Ambrogio left the Ruffino company and the rest of his family and the created with his son the Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Estate taking some of the best agricultural properties. In this way, a group of companies located in the most suited areas of Tuscany was created:



In addition to these wine, some of the estates produce some other typical specialties such as Vin Santo, in particular that of Nozzole, the oil extra virgin olive oil, such as the fruity of Nozzole wine, the soft one of La Fuga and the harmonic one of Campo al Mare. Finally, using the best vinasse, the finest brandies of Pareto, Cabreo, Torcalvano, Le Due Sorelle and Spalletti were produced. Upon completion of this representative range excellent wines, spirits and food specialities were selected.

Il Poggiolino Società Agricola

Il Poggiolino is called so because it is placed on top of a small hill in the proximity of Sambuca Val di Pesa, in the heart of Chianti Classico Gallo Nero. The vineyards are located at an average altitude of about 300 meters above sea level and have an optimal exposure for the cultivation of the vine. Only the best vintages are marketed and bottled and the production is directed only to small quantities of high quality. The wines of Il Poggiolino have been in business since 1965 and have gained over the years important awards in Italy and abroad.



IGT Rosé of Poggiolino

Created from a drain of the Sangiovese grapes for the production of the LE BALZE reserve after 18/36 hours of maceration. Grapes: 100% Sangiovese



Chianti Classico

This wine enhances the maximum expression of Sangiovese, the emblem of the Chianti Classico area, combined with an indigenous vine variety like Colorino, which was harvested and vinified separately for differences in maturation. The two different masses are assembled before moving to aging in oak barrels that help to create a large, traditional Chianti Classico; witnesses of this, the bottles are in the private collection ranging from 1965 to present. Grapes: Sangiovese 95%, Colorino 5%



Chianti Classico RESERVE

Produced only in good vintages, selecting the best grapes of Sangiovese and Colorino.

The must is fermented in stainless steel tanks, where it is left to macerate on the skins for a longer period than Chianti Classico, after the malolactic fermentation the wine is transferred, partly in barrels partly in barriques, for aging. Once bottled it is stored for the necessary refinement in bottle before being put on the market. Grapes: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino.



Chianti Cl. RES. LE BALZE

The name derives from the popular jargon that defines “Balze” the dirt terraces to level the ground, where originally the vineyard that gave the grapes used to produce this wine was located. Only in the best years, the most beautiful Sangiovese grapes harvested late produce the LE BALZE wine. Aging takes place in new French oak barrels for a period ranging between 18 and 24 months, and then is aged in the bottle for at least one year before being sold. Grapes: 100% Sangiovese.

Le Macchiole

The Macchiole is a story of men. It is the story of Eugenio, who decided to turn his passion for wine into the dream of his life. It is the story of Cinzia, his wife, who accompanies him on this path. With stubbornness, Eugenio learns to listen to the land, respecting and interpreting it to the fullest. Thanks to their commitment and their determination, Le Macchiole is today a point of reference for Bolgheri, one of the most important wine areas in Italy.

Fattoria Le Pupille

Tuscany, Maremma, Fattoria Le Pupille. Here Elisabetta Geppetti gave life from 1985 to her wines, proud ambassadors of the characters and aromas of the land of their birth. A world apart where light, color, land, plants and silences are simultaneously promoters and creators.

Making wine: to grow with respect and treat with love and patience those 70 hectares of vineyards, that the team of Fattoria Le Pupille follows day to day. At the right time there are experienced hands who gather the grapes and then, with experience, wisdom and intuition those clusters take shape, in the cellar, in five different wines united by the same passion. They are the classic Morellino di Scansano, Morellino di Scansano Reserve Poggio Valente, the CRU Saffredi and then the white varieties, Poggio Argentato and the sweet Solalto.

Castello di Ama

A place of worship in the wine world. We, Italians, often complain that we do not have our own Chateaux Margaux, Romane Conti or Opus One. But we are wrong, because in Italy there are some wineries that are something beyond and different than a fascinating winery. Those are the relatively few cradles of civilization of Bacchus, where everything is just perfect and where time becomes memory in history, remembering sensations, an indispensable ingredient in the making of wine. Castello di Ama is one of these meeting points of pure harmonies (...)



Ama is small village in the hills, about 500 meters above sea level, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena. It is located in the historic heart of Chianti Classico, where vineyards alternate with olive groves and woods.



The company, founded in 1972 for the sake of four Roman families, currently has a total area of ​​approximately 250 hectares, of which 90 are planted with vineyards and 40 with olives trees, at an average altitude of 480 meters. The production, derived exclusively from owned vineyards, is around 300–350 thousand bottles per year, which corresponds to about 3,500–4,000 bottles per hectare, and finds its paradigm in the Castello di Ama, a wine that is obtained through the selection of the most suited areas of Sangiovese.

Tenuta Casadei

The Casadei Estate is the fulfillment of a dream conceived by a father, an agricultural consultant, and implemented by his son, a winemaker entrepreneur, willing to put his passion for the vine to service of a project of his own: to make local wines, fruit of the land, of the sun, of water and of the work of man, in a modern productive and efficient context. The dream became reality in 1996 when Stefano bought a property of 15 hectares in the area of Suvereto, in high Maremma, 15 km from the central coast of Tuscany, about 90 km south of Livorno.



Located in the southern part of the district of the Val di Cornia DOC, at an altitude of just over 50 meters, the estate is located in an area of ​​low hills, sheltered by mountains to the North East. The natural vegetation is typical of the Mediterranean Sea, with a prevalence of cork oaks, arbutus and pine trees.



A unique territory, capable of producing precious wines, fruit of international grapes that can express the aromas and the charm of the Mediterranean environment of these areas.

Cantina Miscianello

Miscianello is an ancient and small peasant reality (someone says that its first settlement dates back to the half of the fourteenth century), surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, forests, in the most absolute tranquility, where nature shows off all its beauty, in sunsets, in as far as the eye can see panoramas and in the ideal microclimate for products and for people.

It is here that the owners have retired after a lifetime of work, and dabble, with meticulous passion and stubbornness together with their experts, in the production of oil and wine, as well as in welcoming customers eager to find within these walls ancient and authentic flavors. Their search for tradition is tenacious, wines are produced using only grapes from the area (Sangiovese, Canaiolo, black and white Malvasia, Trebbiano, Ciliegiolo) and are aged in traditional wooden barrels.

The harvest of grapes as much as of olives is handmade and olives are pressed within 36 hours.

FABER IGT Reserve is obtained from a selection of 100% Sangiovese.

RESERVE of MISCIANELLO is obtained from a selection of Sangiovese and Canaiolo.

PETTIROSSO IGT is composed of the same grapes that from 1716 to 2006 have composed Chianti Classico: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, White Malvasia and Trebbiano.

MISCIANELLO is a Chianti Classico with Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Red Malvasia, Ciliegiolo and Colorino.

Azienda Agraria Santa Lucia

Azienda Agraria Santa Lucia of Scotto Lorenzo is situated in the Maremma National Park, an untouched oasis in Tuscany.

For many generations it has been producing wines of high quality, coming from valuable native grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, Sangiovese, Colorino, Alicante and Ciliegiolo.

To produce wine, for the Scotto family, means to collect grapes selected only among the most suitable soils:


Ansonica Costa dell’Argentario is produced on the mountain of the same name, 300 m above sea level; in the municipality of Orbetello it produces the different types of the Maremma Toscana DOC, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Vin Santo;

moreover, in the municipality of Magliano in Tuscany it produces the Morellino di Scansano Torre del Moro DOCG wine and the Maremma Toscana Betto e Losco IGT.


In total, the wines produced by the company are 8, for a total of 150,000 bottles produced.

The family’ bond to winegrowing is proven by the fact that since about 10 years the oenologist of the house has been Lorenzo, while his brother, Luca, takes care of the commercial and marketing activity.

This allows to uses the most modern vinification and aging processes with full respect of the most ancient traditions within the new and technological winery of 1,700 m2, where they offer also services on behalf of a third party, from vinification to packaging, as well as guided visits and a Wine Tour in the company with tasting.

Nowadays, Luciano, Tosca and their sons Lorenzo e Luca, run in total 25 hectares of vineyards and a farmhouse inn.

From the fresh vinasse of their own grapes they get a soft grappa, even in the Reserve version.

Last but not least, the company produces an excellent extra virgin olive oil, Fior d’Oliva.
