The winery of Azienda Vigneti Pittaro was founded by the tradition of vinegrowers who have a four centuries old story. Currently, the company covers almost 80 hectares fo vine rows, of the typical varieties of the Grave area of Friuli, for a production of 8,000 hectoliters of wine that are commercialized all over the world.
For the first time in Friuli a winery has been built with traditional materials and with the entire roof made of wood. There are more or less 3,500 square meters of covering with a building perfectly integrated with the territory, with two lateral wings that make it similar to a big plane, like an American Galaxy.
The interior is built with cutting edge techniques with barrels made of stainless steel only, wooden barrels and barriques, a cooling plant and a bottling plant.
Another winery, a few hundred meters far and surrounded by a thick park, is the seat of the aging of the classic method sparkling wine, where an average of 200,000 bottles of valuable talent, which are the honor and the pride of the Italian sparkling wine production are left to age. The white wines are Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon and Friulian Tocai. The red wines are Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Agresto. Two points of strength are Brut Classico Talento and Brut Classico Talento Millesimato.
White wines present themselves as fresh, fruity, elegant, without tiring palates with too marked, strong scents and aromas.
The red wines are harmonious, full–bodied, scented when Young and of full and structured taste if they are aged. If, on the one hand, many different varieties of wine exist, on the other hand we have to recognize that the cultived types present their own features that distinguish them.
In the Grave area of Friuli, as in the entire Friulian winemaking, wine bears the name of the vine from which it is produced.
Our story began in 1963 when an estate of 200 hectares in Risano, in the Friuli Grave D.o.c., belonging to a noble Friulian family, was purchased by the brothers Luigi, Ercole and Fernando. After a drastic restoration of the estate, creating wide vineyards and orchards, in 1967 the new business core made of offices and modern wineries designed by the worldwide famous architect Gino Valle was built. In 1968 the company of Spessa di Capriva in the Collio D.o.c. area, composed of almost 30 hectares of vineyards and a vinification cellar, restored and adequately equipped, were bought. With this purchase the company ensured itself a production range in the most renowed and suited to viticulture areas in Friuli Venezia Giulia and in Italy. In 2004 the companies passed completely under the supervision of Fernando Pighin, his wife Danila and their children Roberto and Raffaela who today continue with great passion and enthusiasm the management of the family business.
The company vinifies exclusively grapes coming from vineyards of property, having in this way the total control of the quality of wines produced from the land to the bottle. The vinification cellars of Risano and Spessa are equipped with the most modern and advanced techniques nowadays available. A lot of space was given to temperature–controlled stainless steel tanks, to pneumatic presses and to cup plunging fermenters for the most appropriate vinification of red wines, before the big evolution given by the fining in barrels and barriques of mixed French and Slavonian oak. Among the lush vineyards of the companys of Risano in Grave the beautiful Venetian villa is located, surrounded by a magnificent old park used as a guesthouse for public relations. Within the seventeenth century villa, the charming historic wine cellar for the aging of red wines is located.
The company policy is strictly aimed at the maximization of the quality of the wines produced in all its assumptions.
Our company is located in the heart of the Friuli Grave Controlled Designation of Origin area, in Camino al Tagliamento, a town that stands at the center of a quiet and restful landscape, away from busy roads. Strolling around it, you can breathe its history in the luxuriant nature and in ancient and medieval church of Pieve di Rosa.
Our land is part of the Grave area, that has always been suited to the cultivation of vines and in which wines of noble ancestry are produced, which are believed to date back to the Bronze age; wines that became famous in Roman times, but especially later under the rule of the Venetian Republic, when the Friulian winemaking began to be considered among the best ones.
Azienda Agricola di Lenardo produces wines of quality, Friuli DOC Grave, in the vineyards of Ontagnano. Our company covers a surface of more or less 150 hectares, of which 45 are vineyards. The decision to press only the grapes of our production is combined with new plants with highly selected varieties, high density of vines per hectare, rigorous pruning systems and whatever needed in a vineyard to obtain quality grapes. New technologies
allow us to guarantee every year the high quality of the limited bottles available.
"Castello di Arcano" is the mark that distinguishes the wines produced by Arcania S.r.l., a company founded by the will of five old farms of Friuli – which for several years has been practicing organic viticulture – making wine from their own grapes in a unique modern winery, located in Arcano Superiore.
The "Castello di Arcano" wines are a response to the request of the most demanding consumers looking for a product of high organoleptic quality, but also of certified healthiness.
With our wines made exclusively from grapes produced by the method of organic farming, the aim pursued is to achieve results of high quality in full respect of the environment, focusing, even during vinification, on physical interventions (control of temperature, filtration, static cold decantation ...) at the expense of the chemical ones.
Eugenio Collavini Winery is a family-owned winery that produces award-winning wines using sustainable farming practices. Their vineyards are meticulously tended to ensure the highest quality grapes, which are then fermented and aged in state-of-the-art facilities. The company was founded in 2004 by an idea of Gianni Del Fabbro who, after having studied the craft art with the help of a famous and very qualified vinegrower of Friuli, decided to dedicate himself to vinegrowing and winemaking.
Before it was a passion cultived to spend his free time, but over the months and the years it has become a daily commitment that involves the entire family and in particular his son Lodovico, who collaborates in toto with him in the business made of detail–oriented care in pruning and management of vineyards, od accurate and strictly organic controls with regard to the work of vinification. The production is made respecting the extension of vineyards, as he prefers quality in spite of quantity in production. The name Ronc di Vico is a dedication to his paternal grandfather, to which he was very fond.

Volpe Pasini, in the heart of the Doc Colli Orientali del Friuli area, has been considered an excellent wine producer since the time of the splendor of the Serenissima’s government and certainly one of
the oldest in the North East of Italy.
The company’s core, with its offices and wine cellars, consists of a manor house, whose original structure dates back to 1596, and a beautiful complex of buildings that surrounds the villa itself. Inside the property of 20 thousand square meters, moreover, there are also the park and a small vineyard of Ribolla Gialla, reminiscent of the company’s oenological vocation.
The first documents testifying with certainty the wine production on the property date back to the seventeenth century. The company, since then, has always expressed a purely agricultural vocation, that in the second half of the twentieth century has became more and more exclusively of wines.
In the 70s, along with a few other "producers pioneers", the Volpe Pasini company led the oenology of Friuli in Italy and in the world and, going out from the logic of wine in the carboy, concentrated its energies in qualitative research of excellence and explored new opportunities in international markets (especially German and the U.S.A.).
Currently, Volpe Pasini sells 50% of its products abroad, through a solid and over thirty years old commercial network.
The company today presents itself more lively and competitive than before, having found, thanks to the new property, those solid foundations and that innovative willingness that they made of it, over the decades, one of the most important in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
A fairly recent story but that has certainly led to success his protagonist: Dorino Livon, to make him one of the most established and well–known wine producers in Friuli. A story, however, which has its origins in a passion and a family tradition: love for his land, Friuli, in particular for the extreme edge that represents the last bastion of Italy to Eastern Europe: Collio and the Eastern Hills of Friuli.
In 1964 Dorino Livon purchased the first plot of land in the hills of Collio and then, little by little, added others. In this way, year after year, Livon Farm grew. At the same time, he developed the project to build his own fully equipped winery with the most advanced technology systems.
It dates back to the early eighties, even after the entrance in the company of the two sons of Dorino: Valneo and Tonino, the decision to diversify the production of wines that, while maintaining high quality, could develop two different strategic concepts.
The Cru wines, with limited production, that were obtained from particularly suited vineyards with both agricultural and oenological processings, highly selected, and classic wines, that were destined to develop in an important way, even in quantity, in the mid/high end of the market.
The principles of organization and production at the base of the results obtained were: reducing the amount obtained per hectare, more pruning court, the thickening of the already existing vineyards, the planting of new vineyards with a large number of plants per hectare and the creation of two distinct wineries.
The winery of "Masarotte" was used as the center of the vinification of the whole production of the Cru line and of the maturation in barrels of the white wines from the same line; the winery of "Venc", for the maturation, both in barriques and in barrels, of all red wines.
The following decade, consequently, was characterized by the consolidation of what had been previously set and the estanblishment of Valneo and Tonino as natural receivers of the inheritance of their father.
The company’s following strategic turning point occurred during the five year period from 1992 to 1997 when, realizing that in order to remain competitive in a market where scenarios were rapidly changing, the Livon family decided to buy three farms, two of these, Villa Chiopris and Roncalto Estate, are situated in Friuli, while Borgo Salcetino Farm is located in Tuscany in the Chianti Classico area.
In 2001, the Livon family completed the range of production with the purchase of Col Santo Farm, located in the town of Bevagna (PG) in the DOCG Montefalco. In 2008, after a long period of renovation, the former Locanda Villa Chiopris regained its former glory.
Customers are offered services of B&B, events and tastings, with relaxing moments surrounded by vineyards and a secular park, where on the edge of a beautiful pool you breath a charming fragrance of lavender. A comprehensive strategy for the company, therefore, highly diversified across five different brands, with over 200 hectares of vineyards: Livon, Roncalto Estate, and Villa Chiopris (Friuli) Borgo Salcetino (Tuscany) Col Santo Farm (Umbria) with products intended to cover, with their placements, different market segments.
A couple of years ago a new winery opened, entirely underground, which ensures the highest functionality – vineyards do the rest of the job. Our great advantage consists of the opportunity to draw on three different terroirs, to say, Rosazzo, Buttrio and Rocca Bernarda.
The Vinifications are always separated, initially, also to make statistical surveys useful for a more specific consciousness to each area and grape variety. Only after, we perform blendings on the basis of the various types. Rosazzo has a warmer microclimate, almost Mediterranean, so much so that even olive trees grow here. The sea, rather close, causes undoubted beneficial effects, at the expense, perhaps, of the temperature range, not too pronounced. In Rosazzo, in effect, we grow most of our red grapes and wines are large, powerful, energetic.
Among the white grapes, Tocai Friulano finds its space, taking from the color of the hills of Rosazzo the originality of character that sets it apart. We focus on red wines bluntly, both to continue down the path already started with Ronco dei Roseti (first red wine from Friuli awarded with 3 Glasses by the Gambero Rosso Guide in the year 1988), and to experiment with the possibilities given by native vines such as Pignolo and Refosco. In fact, one of our goals, is exactly to employ native grapes to produce wines of real personality, of not easy uniformity.
It should be considered that the 55 hectares of vines we own, including properties and rentals, as much as 40% is occupied by varieties of red grapes, definitely a percentage above the regional average. This does not mean, of course, to leave out white wines, that are an indispensable basis for our justified ambitions. In fact, even about white wines, our philosophy follows a consistent path and in line with the choices operated in the “red sector”. Although these varieties are of international footprint, even well rooted in the Friuli area, such as Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio, the greatest hopes and attention focus on native grapes.

And with this feature they have been able to fit into the modern mechanisms of the farm industry, without having abdicated to the traditions of their homeland. They have not lost touch with their territory and with the culture tied to it, to avoid the risk of deviating from the true characteristics of the product: wines that do not have to sacrifice their typicality to the trends of the moment.
Then, the techniques of Batonage to produce evolution white wines, the over–ripening of the grapes in the cellar for important red wines or the slow drying for Piccolit, do not affect the characteristics of the territory and the typicality of each wine, especially those made from native grape varieties. The ongoing research is useful to fuse together history as bearer of tradition and the future, seen as innovation, without losing anything over time. And history is present in the Rodaro farm with a particular date: 23 March 1846, Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia; since then they began to talk about the Rodaro family as small farmers and wine producers.
The big changes came in the years between 1960 and 1970 thanks to the commitment of the brothers Luigi and Edo, who were able to transform the small farm in one of the most popular and large wineries of the eastern hills of Friuli. On this road, the work of consolidation of the company continues, and the acquisition of the Conte Romano estate is the latest example of this way of working. The company currently owns about 108 hectares of land and, out of these, 40 are cultivated with vines with an average annual production of 200,000 bottles of fine wine.
