Vinegrowing and winemaking tradition



With the purchase of the land in the area of ​​the Castle of Buttrio a careful work of recovery has begun. From the vineyards to the land, from the castle to the farmhouses, all required support. Clod after clod, stone by stone, the project took shape. And from the 25 hectares, of which 13 of vineyards, the initial core was enlarged.



Alessandra Felluga, fifth&ndahs;generation winemaker, stood from the beginning by her father Marco when, in 1994, bought the estate in Buttrio. It looked like a gamble: to bet, in the Friuli of white wines, on the production of red wines of excellence. Alessandra understood, sharing the idea of her father, the inherent potential of the territory of Buttrio and took on the self–management in 2007. Today that vision is recognized in the results obtained from the 26 hectares of vines.


At the origins of the story, the Pampinutta hill



Browsing through the chronicles of centuries back, you discover that the land chosen by Alessandra Felluga for its wine world has a long memory of winemaking. This is demonstrated even by the name of the hill where the grapes of the Castle of Buttrio grow: Pampinutta, a clear reference to the leaves of the vines.

The parish register of the church of Santa Maria di Buttrio shows that already in 1429 Frederick, Lord of Buttrio, offered "conzi" of Cividino wines. And it states that the Cividino white wine was "very aromatic with flavor of Rosolio and carnations" and that in the same period were produced: "Ribolla d’Istria, Pinella, Clareda, Turbiano, Malvasia, Moscatello". In the seventeenth century were added: "Refosco, Picolito, Tazzelenghe, Bevert, Prosecco, Negrus, Fumat, Corvin, Cordovado, Ribolla Nera, Dulciolo, Berzamino, Ribolla Gialla and Verde".

The beauty of the landscape, the fertility of the vineyards refurbished, the tenacity of the historic vineyards, the peace absorbed in every fiber to the passing of the seasons, the history breathed in the castle as well as in the surrounding countryside, clearly lived for centuries, are a treasure chest. Wonderful to be experienced, to those who can appreciate it. Hence, the idea of ​​sharing the wine world with wine tastings in the cellar, lunches and dinners in the inn and stays in the frame of the historic residence transformed into a charming hotel, perfect as a location for weddings and events.

The FATTOR Farm is a small family business whose vineyards are included in the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC.

The natural inclination, the love and total dedication to the land of the founding father Giona Giulio Fattor, always aided by his wife Loreta, have been handed down to his sons Roberto and Fausto, who now run the company focused mainly on growing grapes.

The passion for wine, experience and sensitivity gained over the years, combined with constant investment in modern equipment, techniques of cultivation and winemaking in full respect of the genuineness and characteristics of the product, create a limited and quality production, a wine made from grapes harvested and selected by hand.



To complete the activity of the company, since 2007 all products can be tasted in its own farmhouse inn called "Cjasal Fornasate", situated a few hundred meters from the winery and buy retail wine of the company, in bulk and bottled.



The FATTOR winery is open all year by appointment.

Azienda Agricola Le Due Torri

Le Due Torri Farm of Corno di Rosazzo (Udine) is surrounded by greenery, encased to the north by the hills of Collio and, to the south, by the river Judrio, that laps its borders. The 7.8 hectares of vineyard, located on the banks of the river Torre, are characterized by mostly gravelly soils that give the typical characteristics of DOC and IGT wines of the area called "Grave del Friuli".



With passion and dedication, the Volpe family, for years present in the wine industry, has always cared scrupulously their product. The main objective, even today, is quality rather than quantity. Protecting the environment, complying with the rules governing the wine production, capitalizing on the experience without forgetting traditions: those are the basic steps that this company fulfills on a daily basis, to obtain a product of excellence.


Today, experience and the technique are not enough to produce good wine, with qualitative purposes innovation is not enough unless it is accompanied by passion for the land and for work. Since 1990 Antonino Volpe took the reins of the company taking over to his father Salvatore and his mother Dina who, for many years, had taken care of the vineyard, the winery and the farm.


Pride of the Le Due Torri products is Tazzelenghe, a native Friulian red grape variety, almost forgotten for many years, but returned to prominence thanks to some vinegrowers who, with courage, wanted to propose it on the market again. Tazzelenghe, from Friulian "cut–tongue" for its high tannin content, is a product with a strong personality, which amazes with its decided bouquet, thanks to aging in oak barrels. Definitely, a wine that you love or hate, and leaves no room for half–sensations. Wonderful pairing with red meats, game and all those strong flavors that require a full–bodied, decided wine! But the offer by Antonino is not limited to Tazzelenghe. In the company we find Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a native vine of Friuli, too, like Schioppettino, which along with the most classic Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, complete the range of red varieties. At Le Due Torri there also white varieties like Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia, Verduzzo Friulano, and the classic Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon, winner, the latter, of important national awards.

Cantina I Mars

The ATEAGRI SS agricultural society, relatively young, administers various activities. Among these, the management of the I MARS Estate, with a winery named Stefano Veritti.

The property covers an area of ​​30 hectares, of which 15 are planted with vineyards, according to the most modern wine–growing techniques. In the cellar, recently renovated, wines of genuine taste that express the flavor of tradition are produced. In the renovated shop you can taste and purchase the typical wines of Friulian production, from the characteristic white Friulano to the full–bodied Refosco.

Vigne Del Malina

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, a land rich in waterways, among others, two streams flow: Malina and Ellero, which in a singular point of the Grave, have unpredictably designed a form of glass. This is the kingdom of Vigne Del Malina.
The Grave identify a wide area stretching from Pordenone to Udine, characterized by rocky surfaces, of alluvial origin, to form a special habitat with distinctive characteristics and a unique microclimate. From the pre–Alpine valleys you can enjoy a fresh ventilation. The stones absorb the heat of the day and release it slowly at night: this natural temperature range is a fundamental process in the creation of flavors and aromas typical of the local wines. This same excellence is reflected in the Vineyards of Malina, a wine reality that does not chase the big quantity, but high quality.

Villa Pasini Vianelli, purchased and renovated by the Bacchetti family in 1967, is located in the center of the estate and all around is surrounded by 150 hectares of land cultivated with love, in which the vines breathe, occupying only a small part. The values of the farm ​​are based on simple genuineness, to return to the origins, to taste, to aroma, to the structure and especially to the body that distinguishes each particular variety: wines of character, such as red wines; wines that are clean and very fragrant, like the white wines; full&bodied and enveloping wines, like the Macerati.

Simplicity is found, then, in the processing, with times dictated by nature. The vineyards are managed in an eco–friendly way, with frequent manual intervention, excluding chemical herbicides. The harvest is realized without the help of machines. Skilled hands capture and place with care each cluster in a box, when in late ripeness. To follow, a wise and quiet refinement takes place, until every bottle, lying for months, is properly matured.

Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Friuli Aquileia

In 1975, by the will of a small group of producers, the designation of origin “Vini DOC Friuli Aquileia” (Friuli Aquileia DOC Wines) is recognized. Its territory is developed in a long, narrow strip that from Aquileia, through Cervignano del Friuli, reaches the bastions of Palmanova and continues to Trivignano Udinese including 16 municipalities.



The Voluntary Consortium for the Protection of the Designation of Controlled Origin, founded in 1976, has been working for several years with achievement in the wine industry, and today encompasses most of the winemaking companies in the area.



The statutory tasks of the Consortium are to defend and protect the production of Friuli Aquileia DOC Wines, to organize activities of promotion, to provide technical assistance and to collaborate with public and private institutions for controls and experimentations.



The Consortium is part of the Aquileia DOC Wine Route Association and of E.VI.Q.–Ente Vini di Qualità–, association of Consortia of the Province of Udine, which aims to enhance, promote, and protect the development of wine of its territory.

Azienda Agricola Zaccomer Maurizio

The Zaccomer company was founded in the 60s with Valentino, father of the current owner Maurizio, who now runs the company, preserving the characteristics of the family management and the ancient traditions of Friuli to make good wine, but adopting modern technologies.

The gradual expansion of the planted area, the relocation of the native grape varieties present, the renovation of the basement in order to adapt it to new production requirements are an important sign of the dynamism of this company. Great passion for Ramandolo leads Maurizio Zaccomer to improve the drying techniques and the use of wood for aging.

Important red wines, such as Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schiopettino are fined in oak barrels.

Toblar S.r.l.

The Toblar company, recently established, was founded by the will and the idea of the Specogna family. The name expresses a strong link with the territory. In effect, in the Friulian language Toblar means attic, barn and even fruit drying room, where they put grapes to dry. They are places that carry the scent of a rural world, where the products of the land smelled good, of passion, of art handed down over time.



Today the company extends on the gentle slopes of the eastern hills of Friuli, a land dedicated a lot to the cultivation of vineyards. And the wines produced are excellent, rich in properties and scents of these places.

Monai Dino Vignaiolo In Nimis

The farm has been family run for four generations and is built on an area of ​​24 hectares, 7 of which are vineyards.

The company’s vineyards are located in the municipality of Nimis, zone of the valuable Ramandolo D.O.C.G. that the company produces.

While using modern winemaking equipment, it works in the transformation of the grapes produced guaranteeing quality and genuineness of wines according to tradition.
