La Taverna restaurant was founded at the end of the twentieth century as “Bacaro” (inn). The “Bacaro” was the meeting place of fishermen who, getting off their “Bragozzi”, typical fishing boats, poured into the venue to taste, after days in the sea, hot dishes or the famous “Cicchetti” (appetizers).
Over time, La Taverna from inn became tavern adquiring, in the context of te typical places of Chioggia, its importance.
At the end of 2009 the venue was purchased by Felice Tiozzo and his wife Nadia Menegatti with the collaboration in the dining room of Lorenzo Moretto, expert conoisseur of the field of catering and A.I.S. sommelier.
Felice has been chef and patron for four years of the historical El Gato restaurant, brought back after years of neglect to its former glory among regional restaurants, with mentions on the major newspapers in the industry and included as a unique restaurant in Chioggia in the L’Espresso, Veronelli, Bibenda guides etc...
The story of Felice Tiozzo is a bit unusual, not having attended a hotel school, but graduating as a surveyor at the Parini Institute of Mestre at the end of the 80s. He began working in the catering industry for need and passion, running in the 90s the bar–restaurant within the campsite of Sottomarina for several years.
Here he achieved his first successes in the kitchen, many customers appreciated his dishes, still rough but full of flavor, so that invited him to open a restaurant. He tried with I Vaporetti in Sottomarina, closed a few years ago, and left the venue after two years of management he found himself to decide whether to continue with the restoration industry or abandon the whole thing, but the passion pushed him towards a new and demanding challenge.
El Gato was searching for management: many refused because of its history. He had no fear, Felice, who with tenacity and a lot of passion detected it and in a short time brought it back to be the top restaurant in Chioggia.
He 2010 we started again, with a new venture of Felice and his wife Nadia in the management of La Taverna.
La Taverna began where the previous administration had left, a sober venue where courtesy and quality are the two main ingredients.
Felice loves to say: «My main satisfaction is the empty plate that comes back after that the customer has made the famous “scarpetta”, everything else is just talk».
In the heart of the Lagoon of Venice, in Mazzorbo Burano, Trattoria La Maddalena, since 1954, in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, welcomes you in all periods of the year, with the typical flavors of the Venetian cuisine: specialties of fish, game and the first fruits of the season, all accompanied by an extensive wine list and desserts, all made by hand.
A wonderful terrace in front of the lagoon and two large rooms, in a typical Venetian style, make it an ideal place for the organization of receptions and banquets: baptisms, confirmations, weddings and anniversaries.

In this charming place you can taste 220 grappas. Typical cuisine of the Veneto mountains and of Trentino. We have a heated room for 80 people and a summer terrace for 70 people. The dining room has been completed, as Brigante wanted, at the end of May 2001.
Instead of cluttering up the walls of various knick–knacks and paintings, he called a friend painter who with his colors brightened the environment. The dining room with a large window (open in summer) looks towards Venice, so that diners sitting here, in the very clear days, can see it, preferably at night when illuminated. We organize lunches and dinners for baptisms, confirmations, first communions, weddings, business dinners, school parties and celebrations in general. Reservations with deposit and customized menus are decided together with Brigante. We follow the old saying: “First come, first served”, then, “There is no time like the present”.
We are at an altitude of 555 meters above sea level with a wonderful view of Venice. Meeting place for motorcyclists and cyclists who want to grapple with the Monte Grappa. “Brigante” is the Vice President of the “Aque Slosse” Poetry Academy in Bassano del Grappa. And he is one of the “hospital volunteers” in Bassano del Grappa.
