Aquila del Torre Srl is a family-run winery that produces high-quality wines using traditional methods and modern technology. They have a deep respect for their land and adopt sustainable practices, which is reflected in the taste of their wines. The idea to start the production of high quality wines was of Renzo Bassani, my father, to which I owe the merit of having left to me this small but precious jewel that is Isola Augusta.
The climate, mitigated by the proximity of the sea, together with the nature of the soils, has made possible, in this belt of the Friulian Coast, the fulfillment of the idea: to obtain a range of wines and sparkling wines highly selected and limited in quantity on purpose, flanked by the production of honey and of olive oil.
The Isola Augusta estate was founded many centuries ago but became property of my family in the 50s.
I am proud to present this modern and at the same time ancient company, that expresses the values of pure tradition.
Cadibon. A family, a land, the art of wine
"Qui di Bon" is the meaning of the name Cadibon, a synthesis that symbolizes the importance of the territory and of the family tradition in the
creation of wines that express together the power of nature and the wisdom of man.
Corno di Rosazzo and Eastern Hills of Friuli are the cradle of the Cadibon wines. White and red wines with a strong temperament treated with great passion and attention to the environment by Luca Bon, a young but already experienced vinegrower and, together, sophisticated and meticulous winemaker. The tradition of hospitality of local people is confirmed by the new winery, designed to offer maximum functionality for the processing of grapes and aging, but also to welcome visitors and lovers for a wine tasting and a tasting of locally sourced products.
The Cadibon label identifies the best of the company production. This selection is flanked by a white wine and a Merlot signed "L’Osteria", two products that bear the same name of the homonimous venue of San Giovanni al Natisone, personally coordinated by Ameris Bon, who divides his attentions among guests and the typical recipes of his cuisine.
The seat of the Cadibon farm has always been in Casali Gallo resort, in Corno di Rosazzo, in one of the most evocative corners of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the heart of the production of some of the best white wines in the world.
A succession of forests, vineyards, scattered farmhouses, some ancient villa and a severe abbey–fortress which is an environmental paradise and a wildlife island.
Characteristic of the territory, from the agricultural point of view, the so–called "ponca", the terrain consisting of thick deposits of calcareous clay and marl, very precious because of the quality of the grapes that you can grow. The country where the company is located is identified also by the River Corno, a tributary of the Judrio, a river in which it flows after a journey of 24 km that begins at the foot of Mount Plagnava.
In addition to the production of wines, the area is famous for a wonderful culinary tradition, the main symbol of which is certainly the famous San Daniele ham. Corno di Rosazzo is surrounded by destinations of great historical and cultural value. Among these, Cividale and Aquileia, a Unesco heritage resort, Villa Manin in Codroipo, Udine, Trieste and, at about 100 km, Venice. Besides the nearby border, Slovenia offers interesting natural and tourism beauties, too.
"In addition to working in the vineyard, for the quality of our wines we focus on other choices and key moments: the harvest, the evaluation of the perfect maturity for each variety, fast transport of the grapes to the winery. We decide to pick each grape variety after several days of continuous steps of tasting and observation of grapes.
The harvest is made by hand, the transport with small carts speeds the arrival in the wine cellar".

Vinegrowing and winemaking tradition
With the purchase of the land in the area of the Castle of Buttrio a careful work of recovery has begun. From the vineyards to the land, from the castle to the farmhouses, all required support. Clod after clod, stone by stone, the project took shape. And from the 25 hectares, of which 13 of vineyards, the initial core was enlarged.
Alessandra Felluga, fifth&ndahs;generation winemaker, stood from the beginning by her father Marco when, in 1994, bought the estate in Buttrio. It looked like a gamble: to bet, in the Friuli of white wines, on the production of red wines of excellence. Alessandra understood, sharing the idea of her father, the inherent potential of the territory of Buttrio and took on the self–management in 2007. Today that vision is recognized in the results obtained from the 26 hectares of vines.
At the origins of the story, the Pampinutta hill
Browsing through the chronicles of centuries back, you discover that the land chosen by Alessandra Felluga for its wine world has a long memory of winemaking. This is demonstrated even by the name of the hill where the grapes of the Castle of Buttrio grow: Pampinutta, a clear reference to the leaves of the vines.
The parish register of the church of Santa Maria di Buttrio shows that already in 1429 Frederick, Lord of Buttrio, offered "conzi" of Cividino wines. And it states that the Cividino white wine was "very aromatic with flavor of Rosolio and carnations" and that in the same period were produced: "Ribolla d’Istria, Pinella, Clareda, Turbiano, Malvasia, Moscatello". In the seventeenth century were added: "Refosco, Picolito, Tazzelenghe, Bevert, Prosecco, Negrus, Fumat, Corvin, Cordovado, Ribolla Nera, Dulciolo, Berzamino, Ribolla Gialla and Verde".
The Castle of Buttrio today: wine cellar, charming hotel, inn
The beauty of the landscape, the fertility of the vineyards refurbished, the tenacity of the historic vineyards, the peace absorbed in every fiber to the passing of the seasons, the history breathed in the castle as well as in the surrounding countryside, clearly lived for centuries, are a treasure chest. Wonderful to be experienced, to those who can appreciate it. Hence, the idea of sharing the wine world with wine tastings in the cellar, lunches and dinners in the inn and stays in the frame of the historic residence transformed into a charming hotel, perfect as a location for weddings and events.
The FATTOR Farm is a small family business whose vineyards are included in the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC.
The natural inclination, the love and total dedication to the land of the founding father Giona Giulio Fattor, always aided by his wife Loreta, have been handed down to his sons Roberto and Fausto, who now run the company focused mainly on growing grapes.
The passion for wine, experience and sensitivity gained over the years, combined with constant investment in modern equipment, techniques of cultivation and winemaking in full respect of the genuineness and characteristics of the product, create a limited and quality production, a wine made from grapes harvested and selected by hand.
To complete the activity of the company, since 2007 all products can be tasted in its own farmhouse inn called "Cjasal Fornasate", situated a few hundred meters from the winery and buy retail wine of the company, in bulk and bottled.

Le Due Torri Farm of Corno di Rosazzo (Udine) is surrounded by greenery, encased to the north by the hills of Collio and, to the south, by the river Judrio, that laps its borders. The 7.8 hectares of vineyard, located on the banks of the river Torre, are characterized by mostly gravelly soils that give the typical characteristics of DOC and IGT wines of the area called "Grave del Friuli".
With passion and dedication, the Volpe family, for years present in the wine industry, has always cared scrupulously their product. The main objective, even today, is quality rather than quantity. Protecting the environment, complying with the rules governing the wine production, capitalizing on the experience without forgetting traditions: those are the basic steps that this company fulfills on a daily basis, to obtain a product of excellence.
Today, experience and the technique are not enough to produce good wine, with qualitative purposes innovation is not enough unless it is accompanied by passion for the land and for work. Since 1990 Antonino Volpe took the reins of the company taking over to his father Salvatore and his mother Dina who, for many years, had taken care of the vineyard, the winery and the farm.
Pride of the Le Due Torri products is Tazzelenghe, a native Friulian red grape variety, almost forgotten for many years, but returned to prominence thanks to some vinegrowers who, with courage, wanted to propose it on the market again. Tazzelenghe, from Friulian "cut–tongue" for its high tannin content, is a product with a strong personality, which amazes with its decided bouquet, thanks to aging in oak barrels. Definitely, a wine that you love or hate, and leaves no room for half–sensations. Wonderful pairing with red meats, game and all those strong flavors that require a full–bodied, decided wine! But the offer by Antonino is not limited to Tazzelenghe. In the company we find Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a native vine of Friuli, too, like Schioppettino, which along with the most classic Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, complete the range of red varieties. At Le Due Torri there also white varieties like Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia, Verduzzo Friulano, and the classic Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon, winner, the latter, of important national awards.
Profumi d’Italia produces goods with its 40 hectares of vineyards in the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano area, where the best Prosecco is made.
Lara Barzan Belgrado today offers an innovative line of products that includes not only Prosecco but also the best selection of Pinot Noir for a line of a superb "Classic Method" sparkling wines and a selection from the hills of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Made for the most demanding consumers and thought for an uptown range of Wine Lovers, the selection of Lara includes types in which the leaves of gold and silver are included in the wine, not to mention xxxxx which includes a jewel in pure platinum and is definitely one of the most coveted and expensive bottles of wine ever made. A range of youthful and modern sparkling wines with flavors of raspberry, strawberry, lemon and mint cider complete the line.
OUR STORY
The story of this plot of land began around the 20s, when Albano Durante and his wife Ida purchased and managed a dozen hectares. Later, between the two world wars, these plots were sold and passed from hand to hand, slowly were bought by the owners who purchased the adjacent lands up to the current surface of about 50 hectares around the 80s.
In 1990 Tenuta Bosco Albano was purchased again by the Durante family that believed in the potentialities of this land and performed a thorough company renovation transforming a business reality of mainly arable land into one with a totally winegrowing vocation.
Today there are about 45 hectares of vineyards, mainly with white grape variety, surrounded by hedges, ditches and woods.
The low plains surrounded by rivers in which the estate is located, were once forests of beech, poplar and oak trees that offered excellent wood that was used in the construction of Venice and later by the Serenissima Republic to achieve its impressive naval fleet.
The soils, rich in marl and clays, have been used since the early twentieth century and up to 1980, in order to extract the raw material for the Rivarotta furnace, still visible today and an example of industrial archeology.
TERRITORY
Equidistant from the foothills of the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, about 45 km far, Tenuta Bosco Albano enjoys a favorable microclimate, thanks to the presence of an underground aquifer, the exposure to sunlight and the gentle slopes, which offer a constant well–being of the vineyards, resulting in a collection of selected and quality grapes; the mostly clayey soil helps to obtain rich and of excellent quality grapes.
PHILOSOPHY
Only our own grapes are processed, in a completely independent production, we chose to obtain a contained yield per hectare, through, if necessary, a decisive reduction of the amount of clusters with short pruning and the practice of manual thinning.
VARIETIES LINE
Our line of varietal wines wants to bring the work of the vineyard in every bottle.
In the process of transformation, making wine exclusively from our grapes, we enhance their quality leaving to the winery the delicate task of being the cradle in which wines develop and mature.
The goal is to bring out the best varietal characteristics typical of the grapes and to produce pleasant to drink wines.
In this line we only produce mono–varietal wines provided by the DOC Grave Friuli, we chose to produce four white and four red wines because we believe that these are the varieties that best express themselves in the area.
RESERVES LINE
Selected grapes, long fermentation and aging in barrels, blends and, then, aging in bottles.
Our reserves are produced in limited quantities and only in the best vintages, the barrel cellar and the aging cellar are underground and allow a refinement in constant temperature and humidity during all months of the year.
A classic method from Pinot Nero and Chardonnay grapes, a Red Wine from a classic Bordeaux blend that celebrates Albano, the founder of the estate, a White Wine obtained from Sauvignon grapes from old vines and a raisin wine from Picolit and Verduzzo grapes: these are our most valuable gems.
MARTINOTTI LINE
Our Martinotti method sparkling wines represent our desire to toast to celebrate joyful moments.
Our fresh and fruity Prosecco Doc is the King of the appetizers and we try to reach with it the utmost pleasure and easiness to drink.
Ida 1903 celebrates the wife of Albano, a long Martinotti method from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes, that rests in an autoclave for at least four months and gives it complexity and elegance while maintaining a great freshness.
BOSCAIA LINE
The Boscaia line was created with the goal of producing a white and a red wine easy to drink that represent the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, then the territory of the company itself.
Both products are obtained from the union of three different varietal wines in different proportions that vary depending on the vintage.
Why Boscaia? The Boscaia term was used in the past to identify a specific area inside the company where in the past there where, precisely, Woods (Boschi).
Pitars winery is a family-owned business known for its dedication to crafting high-quality wines using traditional methods. Their vineyards are situated in a picturesque landscape and they place great emphasis on sustainability and the use of organic farming methods. Their wines range from crisp whites to bold reds, each with a unique flavor and character that reflects the terroir of the region. Visitors to their tasting room can experience the taste of their wine and learn more about the art of winemaking.
The Blazic farm, a family–run company of direct growers located in the heart of the hills of Cormons, has been producing wines with continuity since 1923 and, since 1968, it belongs to the DOC Collio. Just in the 20s it had to deal with the problem of reconstruction of the vineyards destroyed by war; it was the beginning of a new era, that would address the local viticulture to recognized and appreciated channels of quality and seriousness. Today, in the country, there is harmony between a traditional winemaking, with native vines and old clones, and a more modern agronomic management, with new techniques and equipment to respect nature but at the same time allowing to produce grapes that retains all its flavors and aromas who then find themselves in the wines. The terrain consisting of stratified marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, an ideal substrate for vinegrowing. The proximity of the sea and of the Julian Pre–Alps contributes to a perfect microclimate for balanced wines to be drunk fresh but even after medium–long aging. The micro–climate, the land and the men are, in the hill of Zegla, in perfect balance, especially for the production of white wines going from grapes to the glass only with the help of a proper winemaking processing, without any intervention of a chemical nature.
The ATEAGRI SS agricultural society, relatively young, administers various activities. Among these, the management of the I MARS Estate, with a winery named Stefano Veritti.
The property covers an area of 30 hectares, of which 15 are planted with vineyards, according to the most modern wine–growing techniques. In the cellar, recently renovated, wines of genuine taste that express the flavor of tradition are produced. In the renovated shop you can taste and purchase the typical wines of Friulian production, from the characteristic white Friulano to the full–bodied Refosco.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, a land rich in waterways, among others, two streams flow: Malina and Ellero, which in a singular point of the Grave, have unpredictably designed a form of glass. This is the kingdom of Vigne Del Malina.
The Grave identify a wide area stretching from Pordenone to Udine, characterized by rocky surfaces, of alluvial origin, to form a special habitat with distinctive characteristics and a unique microclimate. From the pre–Alpine valleys you can enjoy a fresh ventilation. The stones absorb the heat of the day and release it slowly at night: this natural temperature range is a fundamental process in the creation of flavors and aromas typical of the local wines. This same excellence is reflected in the Vineyards of Malina, a wine reality that does not chase the big quantity, but high quality.
Villa Pasini Vianelli, purchased and renovated by the Bacchetti family in 1967, is located in the center of the estate and all around is surrounded by 150 hectares of land cultivated with love, in which the vines breathe, occupying only a small part. The values of the farm are based on simple genuineness, to return to the origins, to taste, to aroma, to the structure and especially to the body that distinguishes each particular variety: wines of character, such as red wines; wines that are clean and very fragrant, like the white wines; full&bodied and enveloping wines, like the Macerati.
Simplicity is found, then, in the processing, with times dictated by nature. The vineyards are managed in an eco–friendly way, with frequent manual intervention, excluding chemical herbicides. The harvest is realized without the help of machines. Skilled hands capture and place with care each cluster in a box, when in late ripeness. To follow, a wise and quiet refinement takes place, until every bottle, lying for months, is properly matured.

In 1975, by the will of a small group of producers, the designation of origin “Vini DOC Friuli Aquileia” (Friuli Aquileia DOC Wines) is recognized. Its territory is developed in a long, narrow strip that from Aquileia, through Cervignano del Friuli, reaches the bastions of Palmanova and continues to Trivignano Udinese including 16 municipalities.
The Voluntary Consortium for the Protection of the Designation of Controlled Origin, founded in 1976, has been working for several years with achievement in the wine industry, and today encompasses most of the winemaking companies in the area.
The statutory tasks of the Consortium are to defend and protect the production of Friuli Aquileia DOC Wines, to organize activities of promotion, to provide technical assistance and to collaborate with public and private institutions for controls and experimentations.
The Consortium is part of the Aquileia DOC Wine Route Association and of E.VI.Q.–Ente Vini di Qualità–, association of Consortia of the Province of Udine, which aims to enhance, promote, and protect the development of wine of its territory.
