Cortese

The first recorded history of this grape dates back to 1630 and refers to the lands of Montaldeo, in the province of Alessandria. Precisely in this area, in fact, the Cortese grape found their ideal place since ancient times and, above all in the territory of Tortona, of Acqui and the outskirts of Novi Ligure (Gavi can be rightly considered the home of this grape variety). Its cultivation is currently widespread in the province of Asti, on the right bank of the Tanaro river, and in the province of Alessandria, especially in the Novi area (Gavi) and in the Tortona area, but it is present also in the Valle Belbo, in the province of Cuneo.
