OUR HISTORY Vincenzo Toffoli, of peasant origins, approaches the world of viticulture at a young age. In addition to his agricultural activity, he lends his work grafting cuttings and thanks to this job starts to become fond of rootstocks and vine varieties. After his marriage in the 50s, due to the economic recession, he emigrates to Great Britain for 12 years, where he worked as a greengrocer and a gardener. When he returns to Italy, in 1964, he purchases a small farm of 5 hectares in Refrontolo, the picturesque town of his wife Maria and founds the Farm that still bears his name, cultivating vineyards, breeding dairy cows, caring about the forest and, for a more economic support to his families, raising silkworms on the mulberry trees that support the rows of vines.

OUR VINEYARDS IN REFRONTOLO Refrontolo is a small municipality located 216 m above sea level, 45km north of Venice and 10km from Conegliano. It is a hilly area where the environmental and morphological conditions of the terrain have always created the ideal habitat for growing grapes. Here are produced: Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Colli di Conegliano Rosso DOC and Refrontolo Passito DOCG. This latter is a unique red wine in its kind, made from Marzemino grapes dried on racks.

The 15 hectares of vineyards of the company are cultivated in a splendid valley facing south and sheltered from the flows of air. The soil of glacial/alluvial origin has a good balance between sand and clay and allows an adequate accumulation of mineral and organic substances that confer unique aromatic qualities to our wines. The cultivation systems that best adapt to our area are the Sylvoz and the Double Upside Down with a number of vines per hectare ranging from 3,000 to 3,400.

IN THE WINERY In the Toffoli Winery grapes are exclusively hand–picked and carefully selected, they are processed by combining ancient methods with modern technologies. The pressing of the grapes takes place with whole bunches, soft pressing and in the absence of oxygen, to obtain a better extraction of the aromatic components of the grapes. The temperature control start in the press and accompanies every stage of wine maturation of the wine to obtain a high quality product.

Our point of strenght is the opportunity to inspect the product from the vineyard to the bottle, and to ensure consumers rigour at every stage of processing.
