Giovanni Manzone is located in MONFORTE D’ALBA, Piedmont, and vinifies only grapes of property. The whole production is focused on high quality and is limited to about 50,000 bottles a year. The good ALTITUDE (400/450 meters on sea level), the EXTREME SLOPE of the vineyards and the FANTASTIC TERROIRS encourage a scarce natural production of grapes: in this way, they produce wines that are accessible also when young, but which remain among the most concentrated and long–lived in the area of Barolo. The STORY of this family business began in 1925 when Giovanni Manzone bought the "Ciabot del Preve" (the priest’s house in Castelletto). In 1965, Giovanni and Stefano Manzone started bottling wine and acquired important vineyards on the historic hill of "GRAMOLERE", in Monforte d’Alba. Since 2005, Mauro Manzone is alongside his father Giovanni in the management of the winery. Mauro graduated from the famous School of Oenology in Alba. In the farm, the principles of a healthy, natural, non–invasive viticulture are followed. We do not use pesticides or fertilizers. The grass, which grows naturally in the vineyards, is cut and left on the ground to form humus. All wines are not clarified, are not filtered and only minimal amount of SO2 is added.
