Luca Ricci’s passion for wine made that in 1999 he undertook a new activity, yes, new, but not entirely, since already his grandfather and then his father, who graduated as oenologists at the School of Conegliano, had long ago laid the foundation for a future winemaking company. This passion and the ongoing commitment has the result to get excellent quality results for all the wines that the company produces.

Maeliwine – IF-ZEN

The pursuit of quality in respect of the balances of nature is one of the main prerogatives of the If–Zen company. Agronomist and oenologist work together in choosing the farming system, pruning, low yield per plant, to the harvest by hand. In the winery, wine is processed with traditional techniques revisited and adapted to a material that changes from a parcel of vines to the other, separating even some batches of grapes from specific vineyards and using for maturation and fining containers of different materials. If–Zen is a company of people who are highly fond of this area and are related to it. The oenologist himself begins his journey right here, in the various realities of the Euganean Hills wine, then combining his studies and his training with some experience in highly suitable areas, such as Friuli and Tuscany, in Italy, and valuable partnerships with wineries in countries like France and Argentina.



From knowledge and comparison of wines from different continents and terroirs, from the union of traditional and innovative techniques, hence the distinctive Maeli wines, embodied in the careful selection of the types of wines, from the classic ones to the reserves, on which steps in wooden barrels from prestigious French tonellerie are experienced. The same classic method based on Pinot Noir, which rests 48 months on its lees, has been designed according to the company’s project to produce wines for the new millennium through the craft and traditional methods and knowledge. No rush, wait: a kind of discipline that comes from the Oriental thought and philosophy and that If–Zen made in ​​its approach with wine, waiting for the right time when a wine reveals its history and that of the lands from which it has origin, expressing personality, elegance and longevity: these are the qualities which distinguish the most prestigious wines in the world.

The Company



Our company was founded in 1951 as a farm of the Bonetto Brothers, and is located in the heart of the Venetian countryside.

The La Callaltella name originates from Callalta, a naming that Postumia, an ancient Roman road, took over in the late Middle Ages, with the elevation of the road, in order to preserve the land by the repeated floodings of the river Piave.



The Winery



Our winery founded in 1951 has evolved in a simple and continuous way thanks to the constant work and the spirit of sacrifice of two generations.

By sharing the same ideals and keeping pace with new technologies, we continue to grow and to respect our vineyards, conducting targeted treatments, we select and collect the grapes strictly by hand, because we are convinced that the only in this way we can get IGT and DOC wines, healthy and of quality, which we vinify in a simple and traditional way.

Each batch of wine starting from grapes is appropriately controlled in a laboratory and analyzed several times. We guarantee that our wine meets the Italian and European standards, and is obtained by complying with the procedures for control of the various stages of production, of machinery, of containment vessels, as well as of the premises where operations are carried out.



The Territory



Our vineyards cover an area of about 15 hectares on the territory of San Biagio di Callalta, located in two areas close to each other, along the Roman Postumia road known since ancient times for the refined value of its wines.
