An epochal situation which is having strong repercussions at a socio-economic level and which is impacting the entire productive fabric. In addition to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the consequent escalation of energy costs, galloping inflation in Italy - which reached more than 10% in the last months of 2022 - is reducing purchasing power and discouraging business investments.
In this context , full of unknowns and uncertainties, the Vi.VO Cantine sac Group emerges as a solid, deep-rooted, structured reality , capable of overcoming obstacles and closing a very positive year thanks to strong planning, operations, economic solidity and financial, to the continuity of business management.
"The corporate merger processes , i.e. the acquisition of new companies in the last three years, and those of structural transformation , i.e. investments of twenty million euros in the same period of time, have produced the expected results" highlights Franco Passador, CEO of Vi.VO Cantine , “See, in this regard, the liquidation price of the grapes clearly higher than that of the average market values of the Treviso Chamber of Commerce, the reference one”.
The General Assembly of Members of the Vi.VO Cantine Group on Thursday 15 December unanimously approved the financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2022.
The consolidated turnover reaches 164 million euros (41% more than the previous year) , the net profit for the year exceeds 3 million euros and the shareholders' equity amounts to over 22.8 million euros.
“These are undoubtedly results of extraordinary importance ” continues Passador “which demonstrate the ability of this company to establish itself or to grow, despite external difficulties, to constantly generate value, to create a future for the shareholders and the territory”.
With the 2022 budget, Vi.VO Cantine reaches a production value of 120 million euros (64.4% more than last year) , while the value distributed among the members in terms of remuneration for contributions is equal to 101.4 million EUR. It is indeed a cash injection of considerable value which affects the local economy.
"Not only. In the area, the Cooperative is also strongly committed to environmental protection. For some years we have obtained the SQNPI certification and recently also VIVA, which certifies the effectiveness of the environmental sustainability model implemented by our company in all phases of the production chain. In other words , the adoption of low environmental impact practices and the valorisation of the members' production reveal the full responsibility of our company”.
Perspectives and goals for the near future
As regards prospects and objectives for the near future, the Vi.VO Cantine Group will be engaged on 4 main fronts , as Passador reveals.
The first is that of multi- channel and flexibility : "It is necessary to invest further in the digitization process, in the computerization of sales, in communication, as well as in flexibility or in the ability to remodulate the offer."
The second is that of sustainability : "In this sense, we have adopted concrete measures such as investments for the production of energy deriving from the photovoltaic system, the reduction of the incidence of chemical inputs, as well as the enhancement of by-products and the reduction of waste of processing. Furthermore, promoting sustainability means aiming at improving quality, an essential objective if you want to compete on international markets".
The third front "links to our participation in the research activity : from the cultivation of the vine to the production of the grapes, from the vinification to the bottling of the wines, without neglecting the new areas of interest that look at the production of de-alcoholized products."
The fourth concerns the sphere of communication which, according to Passador, "must convey the peculiarities and value of our product in a powerful, incisive way, presiding over the reference markets and possibly expanding them , to reach an ever-increasing number of potential consumers".
