The prestigious auction "HONG KONG'S FINEST ITALIAN WINE AUCTION" 2013 took place.
The awards were very high: Italian labels have gone well and their future is promising.

Italian wines are not well known in Hong Kong, but those at auction have the undisputed value of Italian life style with prestigious brands. They had success with Asian consumers who showed their appreciation for this wine selection.
"Our showcase proved to be solid. Another important occasion to present the excellence of Italian wine in China and in the rest of Asia. Vinitaly is working harder than ever at the forefront in part of the world. And if the commitment is to participate with an annual auction, we will. Our motto is "whatever it is necessary".
Stevie Kim, Managing Director of Vinitaly International, said with satisfaction. She worked for this auction at Zachys, leader of the auctions of wine.

The auction market in Hong Kong is the largest in the world. HKTDC market is worth 22.6 million dollars with an average price of $ 4,095 per lot. The main share of 56.5% is French decreased by 24% in 2012. Italy is at the fifth place and is gaining positions shortening the distance with its cousin across the Alps. Last year, exports grew by 20%, although in the early months of 2013 declined by 6%. The total wine imports touched, in terms of value, $ 1 billion, and is Hong Kong the region where there is the higher annual per capita consumption of wine, 5.3 liters per person, double comparing to the consumption in Japan and Singapore.

Kim concludes: "Chinese consumers are learning quickly, they are curious and they become more and more interested in the wealth of Italian wine, unfortunately not very known in China. This initiative, together with the participation at the International Wine and Spirits Fair, is the right direction to give greater visibility to our great Italian producers (...). Vinitaly is working hard within this market - the Managing Director of Vinitaly International explains - to ensure that the made in Italy labels become the protagonists among fine and rare wines. If achieving this means promoting an auction every year, we will. We will not leave anything undone".
