«Today’s wine export is worth 5 billion euro, by 2020 we need to take it to 7.5" This is the challenge of the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, from the stage of Vinitaly 2014

Vinitaly 2014, a very important worldwide square in the wine world, today hosted Matteo Renzi.

The Prime Ministre has set the ambitious target of +50% of exports of wine to 2020. Renzi has also announced a plan in 18 topics for the simplification in agriculture and for the support of agricultural enterprises and young people.

«We have created a special hashtag, "#campolibero", which will be put online in the afternoon on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture. It will remain online until April 30th for observations, and to May 15th, there will be a strong investment decision on the two issues».

The Minister Martina will give the details of the 18 concrete and punctual initiatives. The prime minister said: «I ask the operators of the sector to split our hairs, so as the method of this government is that of listening».

Subsequently, «the minister then takes the effort to submit, by May 15th, the guidelines of the PAC and the range of actions of #campolibero. Upon all this the government puts not only commitment but also all its weight – he concluded – to make that to work in agriculture and with the land returns to be considered exciting and beautiful. As long as "go to hoe" is an insult, it means that we continue to consider the work in agriculture a diminutio».

The reception of the top brass of Vinitaly – Veronafiere

«The Government is doing a lot for wine – Ettore Riello, President of Veronafiere, commented during his meeting with Renzi – and the endowment we received from the Minister of Agriculture, Maurizio Martina, on the opening day of Vinitaly for the construction and management of the Wine Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 is important, because it recognizes to the fair and to Vinitaly a central role for the system and for the promotion of Italian wine in the world».

«The influx of foreign buyers at Vinitaly has been in constant growth over the years – Giovanni Mantovani, General Manager of VeronaFiere, said – is a demonstration of the centrality of our event for professionals from around the world. (...) In the top ten this year we have in the first place in Germany, with the U.S. nearly tied; followed by Britain, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, Asia with Singapore, Hong Kong and China, France to seventh place, Austria, Japan. Eleventh are the Scandinavian countries with Denmark, Sweden and Norway».

«On the eve of an EXPO we are ready to engage together with all the actors involved in the project – Riello said – we have to express our deep and sincere gratitude for the support found in the highest institutions. The Minister Martina, in particular, has not only manned all the days of activity but, with all his staff has helped to lead to the Vinitaly themes and events of great importance for the sector, a further confirmation of the real and concrete closeness of his Ministry to the real needs of the industry».
