Vinitaly 2015 is coming soon: a series of events to approach the ribbon cutting ceremony of the 49th edition of the international wine and spirits exhibition at Veronafiere, on Sunday, 22nd March
Vinitaly 2015: in Verona, the events approaching the exhibition
Verona, in these days, is the perfect place for industry professionals and wine lovers, with courses for ambassadors of Italian wine of the Vinitaly International Academy, the International Packaging Competition dedicated to the most "beautiful" bottles and labels, tasting evenings in the streets of Old Town with the Fuorisalone of Vinitaly and the City and the tasting of OperaWine in Gran Guardia, with the 100 wines of the wineries selected by Wine Spectator.
All waiting for the "charge" of the more than 150 thousand visitors expected from 22nd to 25th March at Vinitaly, that takes place simultaneously to Sol&Agrifood, the review of quality agrifood (www.solagrifood.com), and Enolitech, an exhibition dedicated to the technologies for wine and oil chains (www.enolitech.it).
What do organizers expect?
«We wait for specialized operators from more than 120 nations in the world and this year, to promote the arrival of buyers from abroad, we have increased by 34% the investments of incoming activities – Ettore Riello, Chairman of VeronaFiere, explains –. This Vinitay edition is strongly oriented to the meeting with delegations and trade missions from both mature markets and areas in strong or potential development, with an agenda of B2B meetings, seminars and professional tastings able to give concrete answers to the business of a sector, like that of wine, which generates a turnover of more than EUR 10 billion and exports of 5.1 billion».
Vinitaly 2015 provided important numbers for Italian agri–food
«The Exhibition we are about to inaugurate, in a year of important events for the industry, first of all the EXPO in Milan where we will be protagonists from May with the Wine Pavilion – Giovanni Mantovani, General Manager of VeronaFiere says – can count on important numbers. The exhibiting companies will be in total more than 4,000. The net exhibition area exceeds 91 thousand square meters, reaching 100 thousand with Sol&Agrifood and Enolitech. With these three events together, for four days Veronafiere interprets and promotes the excellence of the made in Italy agri–food industry».
«Considering that nearly 40% visitors reaches Vinitaly by train – Mario Rossini, Deputy General Manager of VeronaFiere, communicates – this year we also inaugurated, in collaboration with the State Railways and the City of Verona, a new direct pedestrian link that allows to reach the Fair from the Station of Porta Nuova in ten minutes».
The initiatives in Verona in view of Vinitaly 2015
Although a few days from the official inauguration lack, the initiatives of Vinitaly in the city have already got to the heart.
On Monday, at Villa Quaranta, under the aegis of VIA – Vinitaly International Academy, the first specialized course on Italian wine, has started, and will award the candidates who pass the final exam two levels of certification: Italian Wine Ambassador and Italian Wine Expert. The educational project, from 2014, during the stages of Vinitaly International in the world, aims to understand the complexity of Italian wines.
On Thursday, 19th March: the International Packaging Competition, dedicated to the graphic design of the bottles of wines and spirits made from grapes, marcs, must or wine. From this year the event opens also to the evaluation of the categories of different from grapes distillates (ie gin, rum, whiskey), to all the spirits and to extra virgin olive oil.
From 20th to 23rd March , the appointment of Vinitaly and the City, the evening Extra Exhibition of Vinitaly dedicated to the people of wine lovers, is renowed and enriched, this year organized in collaboration with the City of Verona in the streets of the old town of Verona: Piazza dei Signori, Cortile del Mercato Vecchio and Cortile del Tribunale.
As tradition, finally, on the eve of Vinitaly, on Saturday, 21st March, Gran Guardia OperaWine, the exclusive tasting of the "Finest Italian Wines, 100 Great Producers" will be staged: the result of the collaboration of Vinitaly International with the influential American magazine Wine Spectator.
Also on 21st March, during the gala evening, the delivery of the Vinitaly International Award and the announcement of the winners of the Communicator of the Year Award will take place.
