Born in 1957, De Rui has held the role of Vice President of Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene since March 2024, but his career in the Treviso cooperative group began in 1994 with his appointment as councilor. He succeeds Franco Varaschin , who has held the position for the last ten years.
“I would like to thank the outgoing President, Franco Varaschin, for his commitment during his term and for having contributed to leading our cooperative hub to where it is today,” says the newly elected De Rui . “Thanks to his careful guidance, we have achieved significant goals and consolidated our position on the market, becoming an even more farsighted and innovative reality in the Italian wine scene. His tireless work and his vision have traced a path that we will continue to follow, facing future challenges with renewed determination and a spirit of collaboration.”
Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene was founded in 1952 by the initiative of 129 founding members, farmers in post-war Italy driven by the desire to rebuild their territory and their community deeply affected by world conflicts. Thanks to the far-sighted approach adopted from the beginning, the cooperative is among the first wineries to equip itself with a modern and structured sales network since 1990, to have its own e-commerce since 2010, to give practical application to the concept of sustainability with dedicated certifications and a Balance Sheet and finally to implement a path of investments with a 4.0 perspective. Today it has over 1000 hectares of vineyards located in the various production areas and managed by around 600 wine-growing members, thanks to whom it is an ambassador of quality Prosecco in the world and custodian of the landscape and vineyards of this territory.
