AIS Veneto: Michele Manca is the best sommelier of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG

The Trophy, now in its third edition, was awarded at the end of three days of advanced training with seminars, meetings and guided tours on the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Michele Manca is the winner of the third National Trophy of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG 2023, organized by AIS Veneto in collaboration with the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG.

The competition that saw the Rovigo Sommelier take first place in the competition was held on Monday 15 May at the headquarters of the Consortium, in Pieve Di Soligo (Treviso), after three days dedicated to advanced training on Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. From 2004 to today, Manca has worked in Italy and abroad within important restaurant realities, climbing all the hierarchical roles of the dining room sector, from Commis de Rang to Restaurant Manager . In 2012 he graduated in Economics and Business Management in Ferrara, in 2014 he obtained the AIS Sommelier diploma. Course Director, Panel Representative for his Delegation, Official Taster and Best Sommelier of Veneto 2022, he recently ranked third in the Master Chianti Classico 2023 and second in the Gran Premio Sagrantino 2023. He currently works as a Sala and Sales Teacher at the IPSAA "Bellini" of Trecenta (Rovigo) and as a consultant at some restaurants.

The Trophy took place after three days entirely dedicated to training on Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Numerous learning opportunities for AIS members, wine communicators and sector operators. The meetings were opened on Saturday 14 May by two conferences: the first presented the denomination, where the Director of the Consortium, Diego Tomasi and the site manager of the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, Giuliano Benefits ; the second instead dedicated to successful case histories on wine tourism followed by a tasting dedicated to the best expressions and different dosages. On Sunday 15 May, instead, there will be space for visits to the vineyards and hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, followed by masterclasses on the Martinotti Method and on Le Rive, the most suitable areas included in the DOCG territory. To close the busy calendar before the Trophy, the appointment dedicated to communication in catering Denomination , Territory , Pairings , focus by Diego Tomasi on the history of the denomination and its distinctive elements, and by the Emeritus President and AIS teacher Eddy Furlan, on the service and the combination of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.
