Ristorante Kaltererhof

A bit of history ...

The stately home Via dell’Oro 23, now "Kaltererhof" restaurant–pizzeria, was founded at the beginning of the 17th century (1610) by the local Pedranz family.

This family had estates in the center of Caldaro and also in S. Antonio. A member of the family, Carl Pedraur, had the office of judge of Caldaro and Laimburg in 1655. Probably it was him who built this magnificent Renaissance building. As a judge, he enjoyed great consideration and financial possibilities that allowed him to carry out this typical building of the Oltradige area.

Over the centuries, the building was purchased firstly by a wine merchant and later by an innkeeper. In 1980, the original wine stores have been converted into a restaurant.

The elegance of furniture highlights the environmental harmony with the historic vaulted ceiling.



The restaurant has rooms that are ideal for celebrating special occasions, buffet halls, a terrace and private parking.



All culinary specialties offered are accompanied by a wide selection of wines from South Tyrol. Our chefs will offer the best combinations to enhance the dishes offered in the best way.

The Menderhof restaurant is the ideal place where to taste an excellent meal in a nice and friendly environment. The kitchen offers specialties of meat, grilled meat, seasonal specialties and delicacies on request. The restaurant has outdoor seating and a charming summer veranda. The Menderhof restaurant has a great wine cellar with the best wine and spirit labels. The restaurant is pet–friendly and serves the entire province of Bolzano.

Ristorante Uva Bianca

It is situated in the historical center, in the pedestrian area with limited traffic, a stone’s throw from Piazza Erbe. It has a large summer garden with an area dedicated to children.

The entire line of pasta and a large part of the line of bakery is homemade, with the best varieties of wheat selected and cultivated in Italy. From these mixtures of grains of excellent quality, which is retained even after cooking, a classic Pasta that smells elegantly of tradition is produced. The "La Passion" restaurant was opened in 2003. The welcoming gourmet restaurant of the Kerschbaumer family is located in Vandoies di Sopra, where the very beautiful Val Pusteria begins. The restaurant is managed by the owners.


The restaurant has 5 tables, which offer place for a total of 20 persons. Therefore, reservation is recommended.

We offer our guests genuine and healthy dishes made with the products of our farmhouse or coming from the farms nearby, game and specialities of the peasant kitchen, all surrounded by a lot of nature, by a country and homely atmosphere. Wirtshaus Vögele

A famous tale: "Wirtshaus Vögele" ... once upon a time, there was a tavern whose walls, built in 1277, since 1840 were owned by the Kamaun family. The inhabitants of Bolzano lovingly called it "Aquila Rossa". It was around 1870. Passing merchants, poets and thinkers, but also ordinary people, went to "Aquila Rossa" for eating and drinking in good company. Probably, one of them was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Otherwise, why one of the "Stuben" would bear his name? The "Aquila Rossa" restaurant, in the heart of Bolzano, was not only the destination of wits; in time of war, also great strategists met who, to avoid unpleasant intruders, agreed a password to access their secret meetings. And the slogan was simply "Vögele".



Today this word is no longer a secret. In effect, everyone – not only the people of Bolzano – know its meaning. A good glass of wine with friends at the bar, a pleasant working lunch in one of the historical "Stuben" or a romantic candlelit dinner in the pleasant atmosphere of the rooms furnished in Biedermeier style, or the "room of roses" in the spar on the first floor. And since, for over a century, not only the inhabitants of Bolzano have loved to meet in this place, the Vögele restaurant must be really something special. While in the past "Vögele" was a secret word, today "Vögele" stands for "to see and be seen".



And when sometimes you drink a little bit too much, or you are literally bewitched by the environment and the company, you are likely to see even the red eagle fly...
