The Barone Company of Villagrande, situated on the slopes of Etna, has been belonging to the Nicolosi Asmundo family since ancient times. By a decree of Emperor Charles VI, in 1727, rights, privileges and the title of Baron of Villagrande were given to the family, also to emphasize the love, dedication and skills in the production of renowed wines. The vineyards are located at 650 meters above sea level, partially within the Park of Etna and in the areas of DOC Etna and Etna Bianco Superiore. The soils, of volcanic origin, extend in a large amphitheater, sloping down to the south, between the white snow and the sea. The quaint mountain climate, the special position of the vineyards, the presence of neighboring forests of oak and chestnut trees, create, as well as a beautiful landscape, a "unicum" for the production of wines of moderate alcohol content. The wines are high in acidity and extracts; of lively nerve, firm structure and excellent race red winess, of delicate and penetrating fragrance, powerful structure and persistence white wines.
