Trentino, Avio conquers the city stage of the Palio delle Botti between Cities of Wine

Despite a 2021 edition that for safety and responsibility reasons necessarily had to abandon the rich program to which the public was accustomed, including animation of shorts throughout the country, traveling shows and collateral events, Uva e dintorni has not given up on the traditional Palio delle Botti tra Città del Vino , which for years now has ideally closed the festival by recalling friends and supporters of the other competing cities to Avio and Sabbionara d'Avio.

The Avio team - made up of Alessio Secchi, Alessio Campostrini, Elia Campostrini and Marco Slomp - won the title of the city palio, which took place in Piazza Conciliazione in Sabbionara, and cut off the challengers by 30 seconds at the end of the 1,300 course. mt. A great satisfaction that is repeated, given that the team had won the race also in the appointment of last July 4th in Brentino Belluno (TV). However, the position in the general classification remains unchanged, as the team already has access by right to the final in Santa Venerina (CT) on 26 September , being the holder of the 2019 national prize.

On the podium, in second place , the team of Maggiora (NO) , holder of the 2018 title, and that of Vittorio Veneto (TV), who currently leads the national ranking with 85 points, in third position . Followed by Refrontolo (TV), Cavriana (MN), Brentino Belluno (VR) and Chambave (AO), making his debut in the competition.

To embellish the challenge, also the new female push competition , strongly desired by the National Association, where Vittorio Veneto (TV) excelled, followed by Avio (TN), with Federica Caden and Linda Rizzi, and by Refrontolo (TV). As usual, then, the women's slalom with barrels , grape pressing and the inevitable filling of the barrel followed, where once again Avio won, concluded with the traditional throwing of buckets that also "baptized" the Mayor Ivano Fracchetti, the Deputy Mayor Alvise Salvetti and the Councilor for Tourism Marino Salvetti, in their first edition.

“ Thanks to all the participants and to all the Wine Cities, especially the more distant ones, who participated in this beautiful event - commented Ivano Fracchetti himself -. We hope - he continued - to be able to meet again next year to celebrate together a return to normality, with an unconstrained party ”. Thanks to which was added Marino Salvetti , who underlined how nice it is to see each other again, to finally be able to create community and experience the squares and public spaces, albeit in a reduced form.

We live the party around with nostalgia, after two years of hiatus, and we hope that soon the pandemic will give way to normality. We as a Province have always tried to support cultural, food and wine events and the promotion of the territory, as has always been, and is, Uva and surroundings, within which the palio certainly represents an element of attraction to recognize the territory and the its specific features and at the same time generate friendly relations between the various communities involved ".

Upcoming events, Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena, and the grand final of Santa Venerina, in the province of Catania, scheduled for September 26: we will see if Avio confirms the title.

The Grape and Surroundings kermesse is organized by the homonymous committee, led by the President Walter Pericolosi, with the Municipality of Avio, the support of Trentino Marketing and the coordination of the Wine and Flavors Route as part of the promotion of wine events called #trentinowinefest .
