A season, the enotourist one, ready to start again, thanks to the arrival of the Giro d'Italia .
" We are proud to welcome the Giro in our magnificent territory - says David Buzzinelli , President of the Consortium for the Protection of Collio Wines - For us it represents an unmissable opportunity that we would like, at least symbolically, to coincide with the return to the pleasure of traveling, knowing, discovering places unique, after these complicated months. As a Consortium we have involved numerous wineries that are happy to welcome visitors again by offering them tastings in the cellar to discover our magnificent wines, but not only. Those arriving in the Collio can enjoy beautiful walks in on foot or by bicycle along naturalistic tours that cross vineyards, hills and unmissable villages, have fun with ad hoc activities for the whole family, relax in stays in absolute safety embellished with high-level food and wine proposals, and totally immerse yourself in a territory capable of expressing a strong sense of belonging and dedication towards a land as complex as it is fascinating, where different identities have coexisted for centuries between vineyards, unspoiled nature, art and culture ".

The Giro d'Italia will arrive in these picturesque places on May 23, on the occasion of the 15th stage of the cycling race par excellence. In the almost 150 km from Grado to Gorizia the runners will cross the Italian Collio and the Slovenian Brda and to celebrate this occasion the Consortium will present a new label , which will pay homage to the Corsa Rosa and this magnificent crescent-shaped land between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea.

A real special edition conceived by graphic designer Francesca Polentarutti, inspired by the passion for cycling and the love for a territory dedicated to viticulture that she considers her second home. The graphic result is a captivating label, whose image will also be used for the official gadget of the event, a t-shirt available for purchase at the offices of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio.

The magic of the Collio
The Collio is a wine-growing area known all over the world: a crescent of gentle sunny slopes, which extends in the province of Gorizia, in the north-east of Italy, between the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea, on the border with Slovenia. The particular environmental conditions of this area have favored the development of a prestigious viticulture and the production of excellent white wines, characterized by a marked minerality and a great longevity.

This hilly area, between the Judrio rivers to the west and the Isonzo to the east, stretches over an area of 1500 hectares of vineyards and creates a unique microclimate for ventilation and temperature range, able to blend perfectly with the "ponca", the characteristic land del Collio made of marl of Eocene origin, ideal for growing grapes.

Collio brings to mind a wonderful succession of slopes where the best white wines of Italy are produced from native vines such as Malvasia, Ribolla Gialla and Friulano, alongside a universe of international vines.
