THE SET-UP CELEBRATES THE EVOLUTION OF COSTUME FROM THE 1400s TO TODAY AND THE CREATIVITY OF TWO YOUNG DESIGNERS, FABIO LO PIPARO AND GIANLUCA SAITTO.

History, culture and the affinities between fashion and wine meet this summer in Nizza Monferrato (Asti), in the Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa which opens its doors to the public again: it opens on Saturday 19 June , at 6 pm, the exhibition "Goblets and fabrics - Dresses between history and fashion ", an interactive journey through the evolution of customs and taste from the 15th century to today.

« This event reflects the philosophy of our company - says Riikka Sukula , general manager Scarpa -. Fashion and wine are first of all culture, art, tradition, the pursuit of quality and iconicity. They have in common the factor of time, a component that is not always a friend of the business, and the importance of waiting: just as a good bottle of wine needs years of rest, even a suit needs adequate improvement time to be unique. and special for those who will wear it. And like great wines, even great dresses in the end are "timeless" ».

The large hall of the Scarpa winery, entirely renovated like the whole structure, opens and transforms itself, for a season, into an artistic catwalk. The exhibition will be curated by two young designers and creatives Fabio Lo Piparo and Gianluca Saitto , who reproduce period and artistic clothes in their Milanese ateliers.

Over the centuries, the customs and ways of dressing have followed one another quickly and radically while maintaining an undisputed and profound characteristic: creativity. Man has always imagined his clothing as something that could enhance it and make it recognizable within his social context, distinguishing it for taste, shapes and prestige.

"Goblets and fabrics" intends to compare this aspect in different eras, keeping firm the artistic and intellectual side of the search for beauty combined with a great pride of our country, that is craftsmanship, fine tailoring, which goes well with idea of excellence of a historic winery such as "Scarpa".

In this exhibition it will be possible to discover the concept and depth of cultural work that lie behind every single dress and how the study of the past influences the creation of a contemporary dress.

Fabio Lo Piparo : PhD in History of Art specialized in Greek Dramaturgy, for years he has dedicated himself to the study, reconstruction and interpretation of aspects and forms of the ancient show, from acting to dance, from singing to costume. Focusing above all on Italian and European Renaissance and Baroque, as a designer and tailor he creates historical clothes and accessories and has collaborated in theatrical and choreographic productions and productions, exhibitions and popular cultural activities.

Gianluca Saitto : Sarto - stylist - artist who made his atelier in Milan the heart of a new renaissance of which clothes are the main expression. From creations for musical artists to costumes for ballets and classical works through the manufacture of high fashion garments. Her philosophy is to express everyone's free personality with the dress, building a path and an experience in which to identify oneself. The designer thus becomes an artist, thanks to the ability to impress his original signature on his unique pieces by means of the embroideries that embellish each garment making it special, but endowed with a great dose of empathy for that sensitivity that allows him to transmit, in every its creation, the identity of the wearer while maintaining its recognizable style.

On the walls will be exhibited the works of the oriental artist Ding Tan , who came from China to Italy to study Renaissance painting techniques, with particular attention to clothes, fabrics and the sense of luxury of the time. With exhibitions in London, Milan and Florence he has made known his technique defined as "Caravaggesque", which amazes and transports the viewer into a muffled and dark atmosphere, letting the light create forms and perceptions.
For the occasion, combined with the artist's works, the clothes of the Atelier Carneri that the master painted and reproduced on the canvas will be exhibited live in order to see live the incredible refinement and precision of his work.

Guests will be welcomed by musicians and flag-wavers of the Nizza Monferrato Palio Committee , to celebrate the link between the territory and the Scarpa winery: as a tribute to the history of costume, the Committee will exhibit two dresses from its archive, dated to the time of the foundation of Nice, 13th century.
