HOSPITALITY FAIR: WINNERS OF THE SOLOBIRRA AND BEST PACK 2023 AWARDS

The winners of the competitions dedicated to the technical and graphic excellence of the craft beer of Solobirra , the special area of Hospitality - Il Salone dell'Accoglienza , the most complete international fair in Italy in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, were awarded. scheduled at the Riva del Garda exhibition center until 9 February.

This year more than 300 beers, labels and coordinated packaging competed in the competition created to enhance the taste and creativity of craft beers.

In the Solobirra 2023 contest, dedicated to the organoleptic and gustatory properties of craft beers, made by Birrifici, Beer Fil, Brewery Rent and Brew Pub, various types of beer competed, from Pils to Keller, from Hoppy Lager to Fruttate and IGA–Italian Grape Ale, an exclusive type of our country. The jury - made up of experts, beer sommeliers, Ais tasters and master brewers and chaired by Romano Gnesotto , Solobirra consultant and Ais Sommelier - examined 243 unfiltered and unpasteurized craft beers, decreeing the top three in 22 categories .

21 12 of the Incanto Craft Microbrewery won the Best Beer 2023 award as the best beer in terms of taste, organoleptic properties and raw materials used. Dark and spicy, the beer at the top of the ranking also in the Spiced Beers category won over the judges thanks to its aromatic hints given by cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and bitter almond which, combined with the notes of licorice, candied fruit and orange, restore the palate a taste that perfectly embodies the spirit of the holidays. Indeed, produced by the Casalnuovo di Napoli Microbrewery, it takes its name from the official date on which Naples's birthday occurs and is the classic Christmas Ale to drink also combined with Christmas sweets.

Among the 60 original labels that competed in the Best Label 2023 competition, Dario Frattaruolo Design took first place with the graphic project created for the Badalà Brewery while the second prize went to the Frei und Zeit studio, with the graphic idea by Arno Dejaco created for the Viertel Group srl Brewery. Bronze medal for Altea Srl with the label of the Creature Theory Agency graphic studio for Impavida Craft Beer.

The jury of authoritative marketing, design and communication experts - made up of Gianpietro Sacchi, Micol Valle, Alice Marchetti and Laura Menichelli - in addition to selecting the most creative and effective labels, awarded five special mentions in the categories Territorial Identity, Illustration, Best Printing , Originality and Inclusivity.

Great attention also went to the brewing packaging that challenged each other in the "Best Coordinated Packaging" competition in which the jury evaluated the best project that combines creativity with the characteristics of functionality, proclaiming the winner of the Frei und Zeit studio by Arno Dejaco with the project created for Viertel Group srl brewery, Cartotrentina srl printer.

The winning beers will remain on display until February 9 in the Beer Arena (pavilion B4) and throughout the year in the dedicated online showcase on the Hospitality - Il Salone dell'Accoglienza website.

The 2023 edition of the graphic competition, which also includes the Best Coordinated Packaging award, sees the renewed collaboration between Fedrigoni, a leading group in Italy and Europe in the production of special papers and self-adhesive materials for packaging, graphics and labelling, with its divisions Fedrigoni Paper and Self-Adhesives .
