President Pastorelli: "A beautiful showcase for our PDO where one of the reference markets is precisely Germany, here our wine achieves excellent results ensuring a large share of its exports, about 25 percent".

The Consortium for the Protection of Primitivo di Manduria brings its PDO to Germany with dinners, tastings, masterclasses and moments of study.

Twenty-three companies with 40 labels are ready to land in the first reference market with 4 international events, financed by the Protection Consortium and organized by Gambero Rosso, all aimed at enhancing and promoting the great Apulian red.

The first called "Road Show" will be held in Munich on Wednesday 15 March 2023 at the Martinelli Restaurant, a prestigious location awarded by the Top Italian Restaurants guide. The dinner aims to strengthen the positioning of the DOP Manduria in Germany, stimulating the perception of the association between wine and excellent catering.

The chef will interpret a new menu developed for the occasion to be combined with the labels of Primitivo di Manduria Dop. An exciting evening to talk about wines and companies in a convivial atmosphere with producers, journalists, customers and opinion leaders.

Also in Munich, on Thursday 16 March during Tre Bicchieri München 2023 , the great event dedicated to Italian wines, it will be possible to taste Primitivo di Manduria with a corner dedicated to its Consortium.

After Munich it will be the turn of Düsseldorf.

A great Fuori Salone is scheduled for Monday 20 March. Guests will find themselves welcomed by a festive atmosphere and each company will have a tasting counter at its disposal where they can present and offer their own labels.

Furthermore, on Saturday 18 March again in Düsseldorf, some bottles will be involved in a masterclass conducted by the curators of the Guida Vini d'Italia.

"In full force and with a broad international scope, we are preparing to turn the spotlight on our PDO in one of the main markets. The numbers say it, common sense suggests it: the growth path of any Italian wine territory necessarily passes through the German market - declares Novella Pastorelli, president of the Consorzio Tutela del Primitivo di Manduria and vice president of Cantine Due Palme - A beautiful showcase for our PDO where one of the reference countries is precisely Germany, here our wine achieves excellent results securing a large chunk of its exports, around 25 percent".

"After Germany, other stops abroad will follow. – concludes Pastorelli - In the next few years we will be engaged in international enhancement activities to drive our PDO and make its distinctiveness known. All this thanks to an understanding and coordinated collaboration between us and the Promotion on the markets, in Italy and the world, and protection of brands, are fundamental for the growth of our wine and are now the two most consistent areas of intervention for our Consortium".

The events are part of the project - enhancement and promotion program called " Virtuous Roots" , financed by Mipaaf aimed at relaunching the products and the Ionian landscape of Salento.
