From 5th to 10th August in the wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement, stars marry wine and the Italian music by Modugno

The wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement and the Municipalities of Cities of Wine, from 5th to 10th August will open their doors with the notes of "Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu".

20 years after the death of Domenico Modugno, the 2014 edition of Calici di Stelle has chosen his "Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu" to make the soundtrack of the event organized by the Wine Tourism Movement in collaboration with Cities of Wine. In picturesque villages, historic towns and hundreds of streets and cellars of Italy, there will be tastings and events organized in all regions of Italy among art, exhibitions, shows, dances, workshops and tastings of typical products. There will be "Cene Stellari" (starry dinners) in the company of manufacturers, night visits to monuments, and observations of the night sky with "Unione Italiana Astrofili". The combination of wine, music and culture accompanies Calici di Stelle 2014.

In Milan, on 7th August, there will be songs by Modugno to accompany the tasting table with wines from the wineries of Lombardy and Liguria in the background of Alzaia Naviglio Grande.

Doc wine tastings a stone’ throw from the sea in Friuli Venezia Giulia, that on 8th, 9th and 10th August will host the only event of the Wine Tourism Movement in Grado.

In Piedmont (10th August), the park of the Castle will be the backdrop for tasting by candlelight.

There are many opportunities in Veneto:

On 9th August, in the mountain refuges of Cortina d’Ampezzo, toasts in high altitude, educational workshops for children inspired by the legend of "Lusor de Luna" Princess, telescopes to the sky and "Cene Stellari".

In Isera (Trentino Alto Adige), on 9th August, the traveling music in the old town along with visits in the taverns of the old town.

Jazz and swing will enliven the nights in Carmignano in Tuscany, from 8th to 10th August, in the gardens of olive trees of the Fortress. While Suvereto (LI) turns into an elegant lounge to taste wines paired with local cuisine, including medieval architecture, entertainment, activities for children and star gazing (10th August).

Typical of the territory aromas and flavors can be tasted in the alleys of Fontanelice in Emilia Romagna (10th August), where you can admire the exhibition dedicated to the writer Pellegrino Artusi, author of the book "La scienza in cucina e l’arte di mangiar bene".

In Umbria, in Montefalco, the duo Sagrantino&ndas;dance in the town square is animated by dancers of the Step Ballet Company, but you can also go on the hunt for shooting stars throughout the area and visit the 15 member wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement participating for wine tastings, cocktails, dinners and entertainment.

The Wine Museum of Torgiano – MUVIT (on reservation) opens its door to toast the night in the old town.

"The ways of Peligni yesterday and today" is the theme of the three–day Calici di Stelle event (8–9–10 August) in Pratola Peligna in Abruzzo, with the opening of the wineries of the old country, in the company of producers and artists of the Academy of Brera.

In Puglia, the appointment with Calici di Stelle begins on 5th August in Trani and ends on 10th August in Copertino. More than 50 are the Puglia wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement that will set up tasting tables in the two locations to reveal three routes (Frederick’s Lands, Magna Graecia and Itria Valley, Salento) the different viticultural areas of production. All is enriched by AIS mini–courses, wine tastings, astronomical observatories, shows with musicians and dancers and the special treasure hunt among the native grapes titled "A prova di naso", that will reserve to the winners a selection of regional wines. In Trani, moreover, for lovers of culture, the town’s monuments will be exceptionally open, such as the Diocesan Museum and the Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter. Meanwhile, in Copertino, you can visit the Castle and the Convent of the Poor Clares.

Guided tours, shows, music, craft workshops and tastings at the pool will be reserved for visitors to the Sicilian wineries of the Wine Tourism Movement on 10th August. Sardinia will open its doors already on 2nd August in Terralba (OR) in Piazza Libertà, with wines and local products, and tours of the house–museum of Dina Pala, the Roman Baths and the Cathedral of St. Peter.
