  • Natural Disasters : Reduction of musts (-7.1%) and new wine in fermentation (-43%) compared to 2024, with possible effects on prices.
  • Concentration of Denominations : The top 20 denominations represent 58% of wine stocks, leaving little space for the other 506.

Trends for the Future

  • Growing demand for organic and biodynamic wines
  • Growth of NoLo wines (low or no alcohol content)
  • Higher demand for white and sparkling wines than for reds
  • Innovations in production techniques (e.g. fermentation in amphorae)

Conclusion

Despite the difficulties, the Italian wine sector continues to show positive signs, especially thanks to the quality of wines with denomination of origin and the success of sparkling wines. The main challenge for 2025 will be to consolidate the presence in emerging markets and overcome the uncertainties related to US duties.
