A survey of the authoritative magazine “Wine & Spirits” 2014 requested opinions on Italian wines to sommelier of the most important restaurants of America.


Italian wines account for 17.3% of total sales of prestige in consumption outside home.

The most popular Italian wine in the U.S. foodservice market are:


1. Brunello di Montalcino and Toscana Pinot Grigio San Angelo by Banfi are the top for American restaurants.

2. Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale Gold and Toscana Modus Sangiovese by Ruffino

3. Antinori with Tignanello and Chianti Classico Villa Antinori.



A trio of Tuscany at the top but the ranking as a whole demonstrates a significant presence of Piedmont and Veneto, and a growth in Alto Adige wines. In addition, Americans at the restaurant have a strong interest in wines of the South, Abruzzo and Sicily.

12. Angelo Gaja – Bolgheri Ca’ Marcanda Promis,

13. San Felice – Chianti Il Grigio and Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Rosso,
