To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Farmers of the Chianti Geografico, the Piccini family unveils a preview of the prestigious Terzieri line, a tribute to the wine heritage of the historic towns of Chianti Classico: Radda, Gaiole and Castellina.

These wines express the immense oenological heritage of the three historic municipalities of Chianti Classico: Radda, Gaiole and Castellina, the "Terzieri" according to the ancient medieval definition.
"Our territory is our history - comments Mario Piccini, CEO of Piccini 1882 and of the Geografico - and to celebrate an anniversary that is so important to us, we have decided to give all wine lovers and enthusiasts three new Chianti Classico labels: these are different and precious shades of Sangiovese, which are very distinct and exclusive in the historic towns of Chianti Classico, namely Radda, Gaiole and Castellina. It is in these countries that the Lega del Chianti was born at the end of the 14th century, to whom we still owe the choice of the Black Rooster, the symbol of our wine par excellence. The Terzieri represent an ambitious project, which wants to tell our land and the centuries of history that have made it unique in the Italian wine scene. Today the use of micro-vinification techniques and non-invasive oenological practices allows Sangiovese to express its opulent soul, respecting the profound peculiarities of the three different vineyards, an authentic expression of the relative municipality of origin. Since Piccini 1882 linked its history to that of the Geographic, in 2018, we have always acted with the aim of enhancing our territory even more: this premium line was therefore created to strengthen the bond with the ancient lands of Chianti Classico. A reference to tradition, in memory of the three Terzieri and their respective vines ".
Terziere di Tramontano
The Terziere di Tramontano is a Chianti Classico DOCG, vintage 2019, born from Sangiovese grapes that grow on the hills around Radda in Chianti, 480 meters above sea level, exposed along the southern slope. Radda represents the clearest and most crystalline expression of the high-altitude Chianti Classico: in fact, the clayey soils of these slopes, enriched by an abundant component of alberese, and the particular climatic conditions - with colder temperatures than the other two Terzieri to produce a Chianti of extreme elegance, with a delicious mineral influence, vertical and fresh. With a bewitching ruby color, Tramontano expresses sinuous fruity notes of currants and raspberries, combined with hints of black cherry and tobacco. The sip reveals a great intensity, soon reached by a delicious quick note. The finish is long and spicy. The Terziere di Tramontano rests for 12 months in Slavonian barrels before being bottled.
Terziere di Levante
The Terziere di Levante, Chianti Classico DOCG 2019, comes from Vertine, a delightful medieval village 350 meters above sea level perched on the hills that embrace Gaiole. The soil is clayey in nature and rich in marl, a particularly friable stone that releases precious mineral elements into the soil which are then found in the glass, together with the more bright, decisive and spicy notes that make the Chianti Classico di Gaiole unmistakable. The Levante is in fact a kaleidoscope of smells and flavors that characterize a wine that does not hide, but satisfies and seduces with its intimate sweetness: bright ruby in color, the nose gives aromas of black cherry, wild berries, currants and black pepper. The tannic texture gives a juicy and intense flavor, punctuated by the freshness of the tamarind and the gentle balsamic melodies. The Terziere di Levante rests for 12 months in medium toasted Allier barrels before being bottled.
Terziere di Ponente
The Chianti Classico DOCG 2019 Terziere di Levante presents complex harmonies that owe their marked expressiveness to the vineyards that rise along the southern slope of Castellina in Chianti, in a soil rich in clay and skeleton. Levante is a warm, mature and vigorous wine, which shows off a unique elegance and a sublime grace in its aromas: a Chianti that is remembered for its elegance, freshness and pleasantness to drink. Ruby in color with purple veins, Levante has a fruity bouquet, embellished with notes of red fruits, strawberries and raspberries. The solemn floral acidity that characterizes the sip keeps the palate fresh and dry. A seductive wine that ages 12 months in medium toasted Allier barrels before arriving in the bottle.

Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico : Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico, historical reference point of Chianti Classico, was the first cooperative in the entire area, founded in 1961 by the will of seventeen farmers in the area - to whose belonging the geographical name is owed - which signed the deed of incorporation. In the same year the first label was produced with the three coats of arms of Radda, Gaiole and Castellina in Chianti, the production area. The first collection of the Geografico dates back to 1965, with about 2 thousand hl of wine, and in 1972 the historic cellar was built in Gaiole. Over the years the cooperative has grown more and more, both in the number of members and in production, becoming at the end of the 1980s one of the major wineries in Tuscany. Today the vineyards of the 80 winegrowers participating in the Geographical project are located in the most prestigious production areas of Tuscany, covering an area of approximately 350 hectares. The main production areas are Chianti Classico, Chianti Colli Senesi and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. The Geographic has always worked to enhance a territory that represents an oenological excellence for the country and to support every winemaker from an agronomic, oenological, production, logistic and financial point of view. Since 2015, the history of the Geografico has been intertwined with that of the Piccini family, who first took it under management and then definitively acquired it in 2018.
