for an event dedicated to recovery

Go Wine, the National Association that promotes the culture of wine and wine tourism, has concluded in recent days the tour of Autoctono is born ... 2020/2021, after the setback in autumn determined by the restrictions imposed for the emergency coronavirus. With the return of the regions in the white zone, Go Wine resumed the tour with the first stop in Milan on June 14, the second stop on June 16 in Genoa and the conclusion of the tour on July 5 in Bologna.

Autochthonous is born ... is the tasting event conceived over 10 years ago by Go Wine to promote the richness and variety of the Italian viticultural heritage, through a varied selection of vines from different regions of the Bel Paese, which also enhances rare autochthonous wines and to be discovered, often linked to one or very few winegrowers.

An initiative that is part of the many initiatives of the association linked to this theme and which are aimed at promoting the native as a local wine, linked by a relationship of identity-typicality.

A theme that today is connected to the broader theme of biodiversity and which for years has also been a development factor for wine tourism. In fact, the wine traveler is attracted to the native vine because it recalls a specific place and gives the travel experience a strong attraction and interest.

Some numbers of the 2020-2021 tour: over 70 vines were valued in the five events that touched the cities of Rome, Turin, Milan, Genoa and Bologna. In total, 84 wineries participated in a total of some or more events (directly and or indirectly), from all Italian regions.

In the last three stages, it was possible to feel the desire of many winemakers to be present again to tell their wines live, but also the enthusiasm of wine lovers and operators in the sector in returning to taste.

All this made this tour of Autoctono si born ... particularly special: a positive feeling emerged about the vitality of Italian wine, represented by many regional realities. A different edition of the event in some respects (quota entrances, distancing and masks), but certainly positive and in the sign of a progressive resumption of meetings with wines and wineries.

Now Go Wine looks ahead, hoping that the gradual recovery will be consolidated more and more.

The appointment is for the 2021-2022 tour, with 4 stops next autumn and with the debut in Rome on Thursday 23 September.

The association thanks all the wineries for sharing the spirit of this initiative, with a confident look towards the future.
