Fifty-five wineries and one hundred and sixty wines were tasted in the Cesarini Room of the Grand Hotel Palatino—just steps from Imperial Rome—dedicated entirely to a walk-around tasting that drew a large and enthusiastic audience. Twenty-eight older vintages were also tasted in the tranquil rooms reserved for the masterclasses, where Francesco D'Agostino, editor of Cucina & Vini, and his colleague Antonio Di Spirito supported the producers in describing their wines and their histories, creating evocative moments where the emotions of tasting and conversation took those present on a timeless journey through the firmament of great Italian white wines, illuminated by stars of the highest magnitude.

" Two aspects are worth highlighting ," says Francesco D'Agostino . " On the one hand, the large attendance of young people between twenty and twenty-five years old in the space dedicated to free tasting. The hotel is conveniently located to attract the Saturday night youth scene, and seeing young men and women happy to engage with high-quality wine confirms how our work as communicators is more necessary than ever to bring information to a generation that hasn't benefited from the family teachings on Italian wine, as previous generations have. On the other hand, the attendance of an audience in their late twenties at the masterclasses has finally broken down another barrier. In short, an event capable of engaging everyone with truly important wines, far removed from the simple whites that are exquisitely consumed during the vintage. We are truly delighted to have managed to exceed our goals."

A major innovation introduced this year is the introduction of a prize dedicated to the wines that received the highest scores from the Cucina & Vini tasting panel. The editorial team asked participating wineries to submit a white wine of their choice, one that represents the winery's identity, choosing a vintage from the last five on the market. This created a new comparison table, where the wine's aging potential plays a key role in the evaluation.

But now, for the Cucina & Vini editorial team, it's time to work on new projects again. On July 2nd, the beautiful Appia Antica Park in Rome will host the fifteenth edition of Bererosa!, the major event dedicated to both still and sparkling Italian rosé wines.
