The “Olio Capitale” Competition is increasingly international and successful, the Fair of Typical and of Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils of Trieste registered as well as 10,600 people, many of whom were foreigners: Austrian restaurateurs and hoteliers, Japanese professional visitors. The audience has been attentive to the quality of the products and the culture of excellence at the table,

«“Olio Capitale” is an event that continues to grow every edition more, getting not only the public’s favor, but also that of exhibitors and foreign buyers – the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Paoletti, explains – (...) this year “Olio Capitale” has represented an important point of reference for the protection of Italian extra virgin olive oil of quality after the controversy unleashed by the New York Times. Finally, we should not underestimate the many satellite activities that the event generates in Trieste thanks to the significant influx of people».

Important moment in the event: the rewarding of the winners of the “Olio Capitale” Competition, which becomes more and more

international thanks to good placements of Italian, but also Spanish and Croatian, extra virgin olive oils.

The oils that participated in the competition had been pre–selected by professionals during the event in three different juries: professional tasters, restaurant owners and enthusiasts, to represent all categories of

potential consumers of extra virgin olive oil.

Here is the voice of one of the super winners of “Olio Capitale” 2014

Great satisfaction, obviously, for Francesco Castro of Azienda Agricola Castro Alfio, whose

Oil triumphed in the “light fruity” category.

«It is the first time I participate in “Olio Capitale” and to see my oil winning the contest has been a huge satisfaction – he said –. I have recently started to produce oil, but I have put my heart and soul into it and I have eliminated any other production from my lands on Etna to dedicate myself to olive growing and this award is the proof of the good job I have done».
