The Veronelli Seminar presents the new app dedicated to Italian wine lovers in the world.

The Association founded in 1986 by Luigi Veronelli - intellectual, critic and greatest taster of the twentieth century - presents, for the first time, the digital version in English of his famous guide to Italian wines. Thanks to the rich symbolism and the rating scale in cents, particularly appreciated internationally, the new Veronelli's Gold Guide to Italian Wines application will allow professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world to consult the essential contents of the Gold Guide Veronelli 2020 , with information on the companies and wines and the assessments made by the Curators Gigi Brozzoni, Marco Magnoli and Alessandra Piubello.

To support Italian winemakers in this highly critical period, moreover, the Veronelli Seminar decided to make this new app available totally free of charge in all foreign markets . A small contribution so that, in every place in the world, it is soon possible to toast with the best wines of Italy and leave behind these difficult and painful months.

«This period of crisis is profoundly changing our habits, also in the choice, purchase and consumption of wine. Although with a thousand limitations, if the work of the producers continues in the vineyard and in the cellar, it is in the commercial sector that today there are enormous difficulties. The cancellation of major trade fair events, the complexity of supplies and the temporary closure, in many states, of restaurants and public establishments are putting a strain on operators of all sizes and types " says Andrea Bonini, Director of the Veronelli Seminar . «It is difficult to understand now how the scenario will evolve; we wish, however, to make our contribution to the sector by promoting the meeting between the best wines of Italy and those who, in the world, wish to know and appreciate them ».

After the innovations introduced in the paper edition and the complete renewal of the I Vini di Veronelli app reserved for Italian readers, the Association therefore proposes another important initiative in favor of wine culture. A commitment that the Veronelli Seminar promotes thanks to the support of the Members - all information on the # CampagnaAssociative2020 is available here - and a few weeks from the start of the editorial work for the Gold Guide I Vini di Veronelli 2021 expected, as usual, in the month of May.

VERONELLI'S GOLD GUIDE TO ITALIAN WINES

The English digital version of the Gold Guide I Vini di Veronelli , the first guide to Italian wines, heir to the historical catalogs published by Luigi Veronelli since the 1950s.

Producers

With 2,136 companies reviewed, Veronelli's Gold Guide to Italian Wines is the most complete guide available on the Italian market, rich in detailed information about producers and wines. In fact, for each company, the Guide lists: contact details (address, telephone number, email, website), names of the owners / managers and technical managers (oenologist, agronomist), size (surface area in hectares) of the vineyard or vineyards which supply the grapes, information regarding the agricultural system (biological, bio-dynamic or conventional), if the estate offers the possibility to book visits or overnight stays (number of rooms, apartments, and suites available), opening hours at weekends and purchase options (both direct and online) and any other production (such as extra-virgin olive oil, spirits, jams, cheese, salami and other cured meats).

Wines

16,766 wines are described detailing the indication of the cru, the surface area in hectares of the vineyard or vineyards which supply the grapes, the maturation method (steel / cement, barrique, cask or amphora), the number of bottles produced and the price range .

Evaluations and scores

The qualitative scores, rated on a 0-100 scale, are the result of individual tastings and are followed by the initials of the taster who gave the score. Alongside the 0-100 scale evaluation, each wine is listed using the corresponding ranks (good, very good, excellent, or outstanding, debuts and grand debuts). Furthermore, the Gold Guide annually honors five of the finest wines per category with the Best Tasting award, and the ten Sun awards, special awards given by the Editorial board.

Features

Furthermore, the app offers several additional features, such as Find the wine , Find the producer , Producer of the day , The Awards and Wines of Italy . Thanks to the renewed search functions, it is possible to explore and discover the Italian wine heritage quickly and intuitively. Those features provide effective support both to the consumer and the professional in the purchase process and an essential guide for wine tourists visiting the wine districts of Italy. The Wines of Italy section guides the readers across every region, from the north to the south of the peninsula, through a focus on local wines awarded with the Three Gold Stars , descriptions of the reviewed producers (listed in alphabetical order), and a selection of the Finest Drinking Places (restaurants and wine bars that take great care with their oenological offer).
