The name of this vine variety derives from the typical color of the grape, keeping shades of green even when fully ripe. It is the main white grape grown in the Marche and the first evidence of its cultivation date back to the XVI Century, although it is universally known only since the 60s. It has a pale yellow colour, a delicate bouquet and has a fresh, pleasant, with a bitter aftertaste flavour. The Verdicchio combines very well with many dishes of Mediterranean cooking.
