Friday 12 November guided tasting of the great wines of the Berici Hills, under the frescoes of Villa Valmarana ai Nani

A tasting that combines the flavors and beauties of the territory: the wines of the Consortium for the protection of Colli Berici and Vicenza wines at Villa Valmarana ai Nani . On Friday 12 November it will be possible to discover the villa thanks to the thematic openings within the Dimore Amiche project and taste the wines of the Berici Hills and typical products. The inspiration of the appointment will be the fresco The peasants' lunch , where the protagonists gather around the table after a day of work, accompanying the food with the good wine of their vineyards. The evening will begin with a guided tour of the five rooms of the Palazzina frescoed by Giambattista Tiepolo, to continue in the central hall of the Foresteria, where there will be a tasting guided by Giovanni Ponchia , Director of the Consortium, of four DOC Colli Berici and Vicenza wines, flanked by sommelier of AIS Vicenza , accompanied by a tasting of cheeses to enhance the flavor. The DOC Colli Berici and Vicenza wines tell the story of the places where architecture has become great, in a story of wine that crosses the vineyard and its fruits with the Venetian villas: in common the concepts of balance, structure, elegance. The public will be able to access Villa Valmarana in two shifts , with staggered entrances: the first will begin the visit at 18.00 , the second at 19.15 . At the end of the tasting it will also be possible to make a free visit to the Foresteria. The cost of the evening starts from € 19 per person. Places are limited, reservations and prepayment are required on www.villavalmarana.com/it/degustazione During the evening, the health regulations in force will be respected, including the obligation to wear a mask when traveling both inside and in the park historical. Green pass required.

The Consortium for the Protection of Berici Hills and Vicenza Wines today brings together twenty-six members from all over the province. The production, which for the 2020 vintage has settled on 1,770,000 bottles for the Colli Berici DOC and 410,000 bottles for the Vicenza DOC, sees a clear prevalence of red berried wines. The most cultivated vines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Tai Rosso, while among the whites we find Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon, Garganega and Chardonnay.

Villa Valmarana ai Nani and the frescoes Villa Valmarana ai Nani consists of three buildings in a large period park. The Palazzina (1669), the Foresteria and the Scuderia (1720) are surrounded by rose gardens, an Italian garden with a scenic backdrop and a well, and a hornbeam. It takes its name from the statues of the 17 stone dwarves, once scattered in the garden, now arranged on the wall surrounding the property. The suggestive legend of Princess Layana is linked to them. The extraordinary nature of the Villa is largely given by the double hand of the father and son, of Giambattista and Giandomenico. The father mainly frescoes the Palazzina with themes from the client's favorite books; the son in the guesthouse gives free rein to his imagination, leaving the room of the Olympians to his father's brush. It is universally considered the expressive peak of eighteenth-century painting and the highest testimony of the genius of the Tiepolos.
