UMBRIA TOP AT UMBRIA WINE 2026

Thirty-one Umbria Top member wineries will participate in Umbria Wine 2026, an event scheduled for September 11-13 in Perugia's historic center, part of an event involving a total of 41 wineries. For the fourth consecutive year, Umbria Top is a partner of the event, promoting a comprehensive program of activities aimed at both the public and industry professionals, with the aim of showcasing regional products and developing new market opportunities for Umbrian businesses.

Participation is part of the CSR 2024-2027 project, Intervento SRG 10, and confirms Umbria Top's commitment to supporting the spread of wine culture, meeting new consumers, and strengthening the link between wine production and the local distribution system.

At the heart of the event, a tasting area will be set up in Piazza della Repubblica, open daily from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and staffed by an AIS sommelier. Here, visitors can learn more about the DOC, DOCG, and IGT wines produced by member wineries. Alongside the Enoteca's activities, the program includes a masterclass on the native Grero and Pecorino grape varieties on Saturday, September 12th, at 5:30 PM at Palazzo Baldeschi. This masterclass will be led by Lucia Giordano of the Department of Agriculture at the University of Perugia, who has been collaborating with several wineries for years to rediscover and promote these ancient varieties. Among its initiatives aimed at the international market, Umbria Top also hosts a Grechetto tasting reserved for ten buyers—distributors, importers, restaurant and wine shop owners—from Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Poland, hosted by the Umbria Chamber of Commerce. The tasting features five Grechettos from the areas of Montefalco, Orvieto, Todi, Colli Perugini, and Lake Trasimeno, selected to showcase the variety of territorial expressions of the grape through different vintages and production interpretations.

" Umbria Wine represents an important opportunity for us to bring companies and the public together, but above all, it is a concrete tool for creating new opportunities for the regional wine sector ," emphasizes Gioia Bacoccoli, coordinator of Umbria Top. " This year, we have chosen to further strengthen our dialogue with the restaurant sector and international markets, placing the value of Umbrian denominations and our companies' ability to present themselves in a coordinated and competitive manner at the center ."

The 2026 edition of Umbria Wine also marks the launch of "Vino al Centro," a pilot project promoted by Umbria Top together with the Municipality of Perugia, Confcommercio Umbria, the Umbria Chamber of Commerce, and Umbria Wine. The initiative aims to increase the presence of Umbrian wines on the wine lists of restaurants in the historic center and surrounding areas, fostering new collaborations between producers and restaurant operators.

The heart of the project will be a walk-around tasting dedicated to the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, scheduled for Monday, September 14th at the Hotel Giò in Perugia. Throughout the day, wineries and operators will be able to meet face-to-face in a business-oriented setting designed to facilitate the development of business relationships and the inclusion of new Umbrian wines on the wine lists of participating restaurants. The goal is to build a stable collaboration model that can be replicated in other parts of the region.

Through its presence at Umbria Wine and the launch of "Vino al Centro," Umbria Top confirms its role in coordinating and promoting the regional wine sector, supporting the growth of Umbrian wines both among the public and in professional restaurants and distribution channels. The initiative is part of the initiatives promoting certified Umbrian products promoted by the Umbria Top Wines Cooperative as part of the CSR Umbria 2023-2027 measure – intervention SRG10 "Promotion of Quality Products."
