Tre Bicchieri 2024: the best wines from Lazio. Excellent results, but not from the Doc and Docg.

Between drought and violent late hailstorms, 2023 will be remembered by Lazio winemakers for the extreme difficulty in obtaining positive results or at least in line with those of previous years, and this not only for producers who work organically or biodynamically but in general for all winemakers.

In the new 2024 edition of the Gambero Rosso Guide, Lazio remains faithful to itself, for better or for worse. On the one hand it confirms the ability to obtain excellent results throughout the region: 4 out of 5 provinces have expressed at least a Tre Bicchieri , with the exception of Rieti (even if the Reatino area is recording growth in quality and in the number of companies), using a very significant number of vines, both native - Bellone , Biancolella , Cesanese , Grechetto - and international - from Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot , from Grenache to Syrah to Viognier .

On the other hand, it reconfirms the chronic absence of territorial identity : only two out of the eleven Tre Bicchieri have a designation of origin despite being a region that has 27 DOC and 3 DOCG .

This year three companies return to the highest recognition with the entry of a new one: Coletti Conti with its Cesanese del Piglio Superiore Hernicus and Ciolli with its Cesanese di Olevano Romano Superiore Silene . Tenuta La Pazzaglia instead achieves it with its most ambitious wine: Grechetto Poggio Triale . Paolo and Noemia d'Amico 's company enters the club for the first time with the Chardonnay Calanchi di Vaiano
