There are 12 Tre Bicchieri 2024 from Trentino: not only sparkling wines but also still wines at the top

Gambero Rosso anticipates the Three Glasses of the 2024 Guide which will be presented on 15 October

This year, 12 wines from Trentino have obtained the Tre Bicchieri, the highest recognition awarded by Gambero Rosso's Vini d'Italia guide. Without taking anything away from the liveliness, the consolidated fame and the pure goodness of the classic Trentino method, in this edition of the Guide Trentino marks a notable progress of the wines of the Dolomite tradition: still wines. Whites and reds at the top, in short, both in terms of the value of the evaluations (from the number of Tre Bicchieri to the many wines that reached the final, a true record), but above all the character, uniqueness and great adherence to the territory. The credit goes to the constant dedication of a group of winemakers, determined to focus on varieties of native grapes, as well as on vines: very valid interpretations of Nosiola first and foremost, such as the Ora di Pravis - vinified in acacia barrels, with the grapes slightly overripe as happens for Vino Santo, to arrive at a white that balances past and future, oenology with passion, imagination and curiosity. Without neglecting variations based on Marzemino - a red that is still too underrated - and the important presence of Teroldego, also offered in versions different from those of the historic Rotaliano Doc, from which the two wines awarded this year come, however, that of De Bishops and Donati's novelty. Trentino is therefore rich in absolutely distinctive wines, with excellent prices. But in addition to wines made from traditional grapes, there is no shortage of those from international vines. Pinot Noir clearly demonstrates its elegant complexity (Bellaveder's Faedi is among the best in all of Italy) just as Riesling offers grit and frankness, as demonstrated by the purely Rhenish white presented by the duo Pojer & Sandri, without forgetting San Leonardo dei marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga, the fruit of Bordeaux varieties, which is now a great classic. The bubbles between confirmations and innovations However, Trento remains at the top of the region, and under the definition – Mountain Bubbles – there is one of the most convincing sparkling wine areas in Italy. Many confirmations among the winners, and a list that underlines the excellent performance of the Rosé versions and includes some very valid new entries, such as Mas dei Chini. Kindness and determination, in short, to relaunch the Trentino wine sector and reiterate that Trento is not just classic sparkling wine. The twelve award-winning wines from Trentino :
