The fourth edition of Regina Ribelle – Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest was a great success.

The fourth edition of REGINA RIBELLE – VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO WINE FEST concluded yesterday. The event, which the Vernaccia di San Gimignano Consortium strongly supported and conceived, was dedicated to the grape variety that symbolizes an entire production and winemaking area, the oldest denomination, and was organized in partnership with the municipal administration of San Gimignano. This edition carries with it the importance of an extraordinary double anniversary: 750 years since the first documented attestation of Vernaccia di San Gimignano and 60 years since its DOC recognition , the first in Italy in 1966.

The two-day event, Saturday, May 30th, and Sunday, May 31st, brought the historic center of San Gimignano to life, attracting approximately 850 wine lovers who had the opportunity to taste Tuscany's great white wine, the White Queen in a land of reds. 7,000 tastings were offered at the stands of participating local wineries.

The program will also include tastings with producers in the city's historic center , masterclasses organized by Assoenologi Sezione Toscana, the Salottino Ribelle hosted by Giuseppe Carrus , journalist and Gambero Rosso taster , on the topics of wine & food and wine tourism, site-specific installations by sculptor Stefano Bombardieri in collaboration with isculpture Art Gallery between Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Cisterna, and the Rocca di Montestaffoli, and entertainment for children.

Concluding the event on Sunday, for the third consecutive year, was the AIS competition for the Best Sommelier of Tuscany, which saw Patrizia Morlacchi emerge victorious.

This year too, the Italian and foreign press and industry professionals had the opportunity to taste the new vintages of Vernaccia di San Gimignano in a preview during the two days preceding the opening to the public, on May 28th and 29th .

Over 70 Italian and international journalists , hosted by the Consortium, explored the nuances of the Denomination through technical tastings and participated in organized winery tours, visiting the entire Vernaccia di San Gimignano production area and experiencing all the unique features of this unique terroir. The press days concluded with a gala dinner in San Gimignano's scenic Piazza Duomo , curated by chef Nicola Gronchi of the Michelin-starred Ristorante Romano in Viareggio (Lucca).

The 2025 vintage was presented to the trade press, a high-quality year that, despite the usual challenges of an increasingly hot summer, allowed Vernaccia di San Gimignano to express all its elegance and characteristic minerality. Vernaccia di San Gimignano once again demonstrated its extraordinary ability to adapt to its terroir. In terms of numbers, the 2025 harvest produced 3,851,717 liters of wine, a slight decrease from the previous year. A total of 147 wineries claimed the denomination in the 2025 harvest, 81 of which were members of the Consortium. The number of liters released to the market in 2025 was 3,155,293, up from 2,617,294 in 2024.
