Consortium of Barbera D'Asti and Vini del Monferrato, which as every year confirms itself among the protagonists of the Douja d'Or, the most eagerly awaited Piedmontese wine event of the year.

From 8 to 17 September Asti returns to welcome the Douja d'Or , the most anticipated wine event of the Italian autumn. The historic event - which is part of the traditional Asti September calendar and which attracts thousands of visitors from all over Italy and abroad every year - will also be widespread and itinerant this year, to tell the story of the wine excellences of the area in the squares, streets and in the most evocative historic homes of Asti. Wine is once again the undisputed protagonist: 10 days of talks, tastings, masterclasses, meetings, readings, music and entertainment to discover all its nuances and offer tourists, professionals and enthusiasts ideas for knowledge and in-depth analysis. They will be intense and eventful days, with a longer program over the two weekends and concentrated in the evenings (from 6pm) of the weekdays. Among the protagonists of the Douja d'Or, like every year, the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium for which this historic event represents a moment of celebration and celebration of the wine excellence of the area. In fact, there are over 150 labels from the Consortium present every day at the tasting stands inside Palazzo Alfieri : in the first courtyard there will be two tasting stands, one entirely dedicated to Monferrato red wines, the other to white, sweet wines and sparkling wines belonging to the 13 denominations. In the second courtyard, there will be food trucks, with pairing proposals and the historic Ristorantino, curated by the AFP Colline Astigiane hotel school, which will offer traditional Piedmontese dishes. There are also 4 Masterclasses planned, one per day from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th, starting from 7pm, during which the oenological pearls of Monferrato will be explored in depth. During the four events, participants will be able to discover the origin, the organoleptic characteristics and the best combinations between local products and some of the labels being tasted. Finally, the starred chef Marcello Trentini , through combinations of ingredients and flavours, will present new culinary creations designed to best enhance the excellence of the consortium denominations. “ For us, the Douja d'Or is an important opportunity to illustrate to the consumer the quality of our labels - explains Vitaliano Maccario, President of the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium - guiding the public personally to discover the territory and of its excellences. During the event there will be moments where the pairings between our wines and dishes designed specifically for the occasion will be at the center of attention, precisely to represent the great versatility of the Monferrato labels and their combinability both with dishes of the prestigious local gastronomy and more contemporary dishes. Our goal is to involve a transversal audience, from wine lovers to the simply curious, accompanying them to taste some of the most significant interpretations of Monferrato and telling them the history and unique characteristics contained in each glass.
